124. Getting Attached

Ben meets with the Mayor to finish his job. There are some Council officials there, so he needs to make a report directly. They finish the process fast because they need to take the Dark Mages to National Branch soon.

After the meeting, Ben & Bella go to the Mayor's residence. Elefsia has returned to her house with her parents, so they can rest now. They have lunch & a bath before going to sleep.

Ben wakes up in the evening and finds a little intruder in his bed. Elefsia is sleeping on his left because Bella sleeps on his right. It makes his face darken, but he doesn't do anything that will disturb the little girl.

'Sigh, it seems I can't get up now. Let's just improve my magic to kill time,' thinks Ben.

Ben asks AI Chip to make some simulations from the data & Ben's ideas. He focuses on improving his Sun Devil Slayer Magic because he has just learned it for a few months.

As for the Curse, he leaves it for now because he still needs to improve his emotion control first like what Morgbitt told him, especially the negative emotions.

All his Devil Slayer Magic spells are derived from his Dragon Slayer Magic spells. He doesn't have any knowledge of Sun Devil Slayer Magic, so there's no other choice. It's not a problem though because he has AI Chip to help him.

Ben works on the improvement for the whole night. The girls finally wake up in the morning and Bella is surprised to see Elefsia there. But she doesn't mind it and acts like nothing is wrong there.

"Why're you here?" asks Ben to Elefsia.

"I couldn't sleep in my home, so Papa & Mama took me here. Auntie Amanda told me to sleep with you and I really can sleep here," says Elefsia.

"Auntie Amanda? Who's she?" asks Ben confusedly.

"She is my mother's sister, this house's owner," says Elefsia.

Ben blinks his eyes, he has just learned the Mayor's name now. It makes him realize that he always called her Mayor and never asked for her name at all. Luckily he learned it from Elefsia now or he will get ashamed if he learned it from someone else.

A knock suddenly is heard from the door and Marc comes in. He tells them to have breakfast with the Mayor and Elefsia's parents. They go there and have breakfast immediately because Ben is very hungry. He doesn't eat anything last night, after all.

Elefsia sits very closely to Ben and their chairs are almost touching each other. She keeps peeking at Bella who sits on Ben's lap while eating roasted meat. Her mother & aunt are giggling while her father has a worried face.

"E-Elefsia, you need to focus on your meal so you can recover faster," says Elefsia's father, Herald.

Elefsia just nods but still doing what she did earlier. Herald's mouth's corner twitches and his wife, Vina, giggles seeing that. Ben raised an eyebrow in confusion, but he just ignore it and keep eating his food.

Amanda has told her staff to prepare a lot of food because she knows Ben has a big appetite. His appetite surprised the noble family as it is their first time seeing someone can eat so much food. They can't understand where all the food disappeared because Ben's body still looks normal.

"Do you use magic to digest all those food?" asks Herald curiously.

"No, I just eat a lot because I need a lot of energy too. You can say that my body is special and normal portion isn't enough for me," says Ben.

Ben's body is affected by his Slayer Magic, including his appetite. That's why his appetite is big since he became a Dragon Slayer. Now, he has Devil Slayer Magic too, so his appetite has grown even bigger.

After the meal, Ben wants to buy supplies for his journey again. But Vina stops him and asks him to accompany her daughter. She will ask her men to get all his supplies, so he doesn't need to do it himself.

He wants to refuse, but the little girl is holding his pants with hopeful eyes already. It gives him no choice, so he agrees and Elefsia gets very happy. Her father doesn't seem very happy though, but he says nothing after seeing his wife's glare.

They go to the garden behind the mansion and sit in a gazebo. Elefsia finally can sit on Ben's lap because Bella lays on his head. She didn't ask anything and just climbed up herself. It surprised Ben, but he just let it be, and they talk.

"How old are you, Elefsia?" asks Ben.

"Umm, 8?" says Elefsia unsurely.

"Hahaha, you should know your own age. Well, you should know all about yourself, so find it out after this, alright?" asks Ben while rubbing her head.

"Okay," replies the little girl.

"Alright, I've asked you first, now you can ask me anything," says Ben.

"Hmm, tell me the stories when you did your jobs," says Elefsia.

"Sure, but it will be long," says Ben.

Ben then tells her some stories about his Mage jobs. Of course, he filters them and tries to make the stories friendly for children. Many scenes are not meant for children because they're too scary, after all.

Bella also joins his storytelling by doing an act on the table to make the story clearer. Her act is accurate, but it looks very funny when she is the one who does it. Still, it makes Elefsia happy seeing her funny act.

It makes Ben & Bella happy seeing her happy like this. At least they can help her recover a little by doing this. They keep telling her the stories for a few hours because there are many stories that they can tell her.

Elefsia also finally learns that they are traveling around the Kingdom now. It makes her very sad when she knows that they can't stay here for too long. She doesn't want them to leave and keeps hugging Ben while holding his clothes.

Ben doesn't know what to do with it and asks for help from the adults. Elefsia's parents then have a negotiation with her. Finally, she agrees to let Ben & Bella resume their journey after staying here for 3 more days and accompany her playing.

The next day, he accompany Elefsia to play in the field as she requested. She only plays with Bella though because they play girl's games that Ben never know. Bella teaches Elefsia some games that she played with Wendy & Carla.

The 2 little girls are playing happily with Ben watching from the side. But then they start to use him as their playing object. They play with his hair by tying it with rubber bands on many spots.

Ben just let it be to make them happy and satisfied. It's already a good thing that Elefsia can smile & laugh again after what happened before. He knows she won't forget it easily, but at least she can ignore it for now.

At noon, the other children victims come there. They were called by the Mayor to come here with their parents. The adults' talk will be boring for the kids, so they come here with the Mayor's instruction.

With more kids, they can play more games together. The new games & some friends make Elefsia very happy. She doesn't have any friends who will play these kinds of games that will dirty their clothes. All of her friends are nobles or rich kids, after all.

Ben works on his magic again while supervising the kids. There's nothing he can do there, but he still needs to be productive. The kids will be fine too because there are guards who keep watching them.

They finished playing in the afternoon and everyone returns to their place. Ben's group also returns to the mansion and rest. They play many things that Elefsia wants for the next 2 days.

Then finally, it's time for Ben & Bella to resume their journey. Elefsia is very sad, but she needs to let them go because she has agreed to it. Ben rubs her head and then gives her a silver bracelet that has some colorful gems on it which are lacrima crystals.

"Wear it anytime and it will protect you when you're in danger. It will also send a signal to me so I will know when you're in danger and I will go to help you," says Ben as he pats the little girl's head.

Elefsia nods and wears it before hugging Ben & Bella. Then they bid farewell and leave the Port Town, resuming their journey.
