Chapter 35: Blizzardverns!!

*Earthland, Ishgar, Fiore*

*June 20, Year 772*

*Afternoon*

On a snowy hill lives a family of snow lynxes eating a brown adult bison. And on the foot of a hill, if you look close enough you can see a silhouette of a boy.

"After hunting these 2 adults and keeping the 3 young kittens to be raised, I should have about 34 complete sets of furs and about 23 kittens to be raised in the mage's sanctuary."

"It's a good thing that the space can partition a part of space and keep it separate from others allowing me to raise these 23 kittens."

"It's really an efficient task the fur can be sold for money, the flesh and bones can be used to feed kittens and fertilized trees and the soul can be used to make totems and puppets."

"Anyway let's get rid of them now."

The boy then waved his hands and 15 wolf head totems appeared by his side.

"Soldiers, Howling wolf Formation."

The totems then put together a formation, transforming into three 5 meters tall red wolves.

Feeling the dangerous aura from the wolves, the two adult lynxes stood up and purred fiercely with the three kittens hidden behind them.

"Hmph! Useless resistance, Kill them."

The wolves howled and turned into a red phantom and rushed at the enemy.

Feeling the strong momentum of the wolves, the lynxes each took a cub and dodged out of the way leaving a single cub behind.

Seeing them dodge the boy decided to focus on one lynx," Target the one on the right!"

The wolves then shifted their target to the one on the right and chased after it leaving one wolf to stall the other lynx.

After a few more clashes, the first one to die is the lynx on the right shortly after is the last adult lynx.

The boy then took out a knife and started removing the fur from the adult lynxes and storing it after.

If you don't already know, then this boy is John Osborne, that spent three days hunting cats in Mt. Hakobe

"Yosh that's 34 sets of fur which in total is 102,000 Jewels! Let's just wait for Sebastian at the campsite and then go back and submit the job."

After taking back all the totems leaving five to guard himself, he then put the three kittens in the space.

After returning back to the campsite, he took out a pot and started making food for dinner.

While cooking he took out a palm size piece of ice and use a magic pen to cut off a small finger size piece of ice and toss it into the pot.

A few minutes before the food was cooked, a black spot appeared on the horizon and flew towards the campsite.

The black dot landed in the middle of the campsite, but strangely enough, it did not cause any disturbance whatsoever.

"So how much did you collect this time?" John asked without looking back as he continued to stir the pot.

"Not much just about 15 cubic meters should be enough to last us for three years." Sebastian said as he adjusted his outfit.

John was immediately speechless 15 cubic meters plus the 20 cubic meters last time could last us for two decades dumbass!

Rubbing his forehead John took the pot and put it on the table.

"Come here it's time to eat, after this, we're gonna be leaving this place."

While eating, Sebastian suddenly asked, " Come with me after you are done packing up I'll show you something interesting."

After they were done eating, John started to pack the things in the campsite while thinking what could be so interesting?

After he was done packing, he got picked up by Sebastian by the neck and they flew somewhere.

After flying for a kilometer or so John hears the sound of fighting and the roars of monsters.

Landing on a nearby hill I finally knew what monsters were fighting.

Two ferocious dragon like monsters are fighting in the air, but if looked upon closely they only have two wings as forearms and two hind legs.

"Blizzardverns!!"John exclaimed with fear.

Unlike Wyverns that are green and carnivorous, Blizzardverns are colored white and a size smaller than Wyverns and on top of all of that they are herbivores.

"Why are they fighting?"

Sebastian answered with a smile," It's for mating rights"

"The one on the losing side is a couple with a female blizzardvern inside the cave, and the one that is winning is a stronger male that want to take the mate of the former."

"Tell you something, there's currently an egg inside that cave. That has just been laid last year, in the next one and a half years I'm gonna have you take on a challenge. If you pass the challenge I'll give you that egg, if not I'll just eat it."

He then turned towards John and asked with a smile.

"Are you up for the challenge?"
