Chapter-5

Kai Returned back to his home and for the first time in months, he tossed out all the trash bags from his apartment and cleaned it properly.

...

After cleaning his Apartment, Kai Opened his inventory and pulled out the Inter-dimensional space room.

He then placed it on the ground and just like before, A door appeared in front of him.

Kai immediately entered inside and noticed that all of his stuff was still there.

"Let's see... Here is the coal." Kai spoke as he clicked on the coal and summoned it.

*THUD-THUD-THUD-THUD-THUD*

As the Bags of Coal fell over the ground, Kai clicked on the iron rods and placed them on the other side of the room.

Kai picked the pair of gloves and wore them over his hands.

He then removed his t-shirt and pants in order to save them from getting all wet.

"Let's do this." Kai spoke as he picked up one bag of coal and emptied it into the Furnace.

He then picked up the match and lit up the furnace.

*Bhooop*

As soon as the furnace started burning, Kai picked up two iron rods and started burning them in the furnace.

Since the Iron rods are pretty much straight, he doesn't have to do completely melt them, Only enough to get them together.

*Zzzzzzz*

6 minutes later...

As the rods started glowing brightly red, Kai pulled them out and started hammering them with his normal hammer.

As soon as he started hammering... His passive skill got activated by itself.

<Precision Hammering>

*THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP*

After hammering both the Rods into one... Kai placed it back into the furnace and started melting it a bit.

10 minutes later...

Kai pulled it out with the crucible tongs and started hammering it down to give it a Sword's shape.

*THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP*

After continuously hitting it for about 2 hours, Kai finally achieved the shape of a sword, but not quite a blade.

"My hands feel numb. Never felt like this in the tutorial." Kai spoke with a serious expression as he opened and closed his fist many times in order to get rid of the numbness.

"Woah... My triceps look really clean." Kai spoke as he noticed that his tricep's muscles had a perfect shape and a smile appeared on his face.

"Now... Let's start the main process." Kai spoke as he started hammering the Sword once again.

*THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP*

5 Hour Later...

Kai's body is completely covered in Sweat but he is still hammering the sword with a determined expression on his face.

*THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP*

With every hit Kai would imagine about all the people that had Disappointed him in life.

'You are a fucking Disappointment to my Name.'

'Who wants a brother like you ?'

'Get the Fuck out of the house.'

'You thought, I will marry you ? Fucking hell... You are stupid.'

*THUMP*

With one last Hit, Kai finally stopped hammering and picked up the blade in his hands.

"I have tried to keep it balanced by distributing all the metal equally on both sides and once the basic form was completed, I beveled the edges, making it into a Double-edged sword.

Now comes the hard part... This was one of the part that kept holding me back in the tutorial for most of the time." Kai spoke as he placed the sword back into the furnace and went out of the Inter-dimensional space room.

He then came back with two buckets full of water.

Kai slowly poured the water into a cylindrical vessel, that was made out of a very high heat-resistant material.

'Quenching the Blade is the hardest part in creating a sword. Normally, I should do it in a oil like the modern blacksmiths... But, since water was used in ancient times, I will do the same.' Kai thought as he pulled his blade out of the furnace with the crucible tongs and noticed that it was glowing brightly red, but not melting.

"The perfect temprature..." Kai spoke as he slowly brought the glowing red blade to the quenching vessel and looked at the blade with a serious expression.

"The Thing that can't broke you, will make you stronger. Just survive this one..." Kai spoke as he immediately submerged the blade into the water.

*HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS*

Vapours and water immediately splashed out of the vessel.

Kai slowly pulled the blade out and noticed that it was completely snapped.

*Thud*

Kai immediately threw the broken blade away and punched the wall with an angry expression.

*THUD*

"FUCKKKKK...." Kai shouted loudly with an angry expression as he didn't wait another second and pulled out two more rods from his inventory.

He tossed them in the furnace and dropped two bags of coal into it.

...

8 Hours later...

*THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP*

Kai finished making another blade and this time he tried to keep it thick.

He then placed it in the furnace and waited for sometime.

After about 4 minutes... He pulled the Sword out and got ready to quench it again.

"Come on... Don't break." Kai spoke as he submerged the blade into the water once again.

*HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS*

*SNAP*

This time Kai heard the snapping sound in the vessel and a Disappointed expression appeared on his face.

He didn't bothered to pull it out and started making another sword without speaking anything.

2 days later...

*THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP*

For the last two days, Kai hasn't eaten anything and he is continuously trying to make a sword.

There are many broken blades lying near the quenching vessel and some are even sticking in the room's wall.

Kai is making the last sword as he ran out of all the metal rods.

"This should do it..." Kai spoke as he threw the double edged blade into the furnace and walked upto his phone.

He then opened an online food delivery app and ordered somethings to eat as he was really hungry.

'I don't care if this blade is going to survive or not. I am going to eat something and after that, I will take a good nap.

It's been 2 days... I am just bad at this forging thing.' Kai thought as he placed his phone down and went to the furnace.

He then pulled the blade out with the crucible tongs and walked upto the quenching vessel with a emotionless face.

Kai looked at the blade and had zero expectations to succeed.

He turned the blade upside down and submerged it into the water.

*HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS*

As the water vapours came out... Kai slowly pulled the blade out and noticed that it was completely intact.

As soon as he saw this, A huge smile appeared on his face.

"HAHAHAHA... I KNEW IT, I FUCKING KNEW IT." Kai spoke as he looked at the unbroken blade, although it was slightly bent towards one side, but it was fixable.

"Hmmm...?" Kai looked at this with a confused expression.

"Oh... It obtained a skill. The old man told me about this. When a Sword's blade is quenched and it survives... There is a 70% chance for it to retain a skill from the metal's original property.

So, That's what he was talking about. Well, whatever let's temper you." Kai spoke as he looked at the blade with a smile.

'Tempering is when a blacksmith heats up the blade to a lower temperature and gradually cools it down in order to maintain strong edges.' Kai thought as he started heating the blade slowly.

*Ting-Tong*

Suddenly, His apartment's bell rang.

"Must be the delivery guy..." Kai spoke as he placed the blade on the floor after heating it, in order to let it cooldown.

...

Kai came out of the Inter-dimensional room and recieved his food.

He then came back and without waiting another second, he opened his food and started eating it while looking at his blade like a little child.

"Hmm... Noodles from that stupid shop are tasting really good after 1 month. Did he change the recipe or something ?" Kai asked with a confused expression as he ate all of them, cleaning the bowl completely.

"Now, Let's get back to work." Kai spoke as he immediately stood up and started cutting the leather and wood in order to make the Sword's hilt.

'Making a hilt is not that hard... Just a wooden loop of perfect size and shape and some leather to make a better grip on the sword.' Kai thought as he completed the hilt in just 30 minutes.

After that he went to the blade and picked it up in his hands with a proud smile on his face.

"Now, Let's sharpen you up." Kai spoke as he immediately went to the grinder and started paddling it.

'If this sword sells for like $1000, I will get an electronic grinder and a sanding machine as well.' Kai thought as he continued to sharpen the Sword's edges.

1 Hour later...

After grinding and sanding it for one hour, the blade's edges are shining brightly and Kai is looking at it with a smile.

"Now, Where is that polish that I bought ?" Kai spoke as he looked down and picked up the polish can.

He then poured the black polish over the blade and cleaned it completely.

After sharpening and polishing the blade, Kai finally attached it's hilt and completed the sword.

As soon as this message popped up in front of him, Kai immediately clicked yes.

As soon as Kai read the notification he placed the sword into the screen.

'Hmm... Let's try bidding, I will start it from $1000 and if no one bought it, I will just place it in the other section.' Kai thought as he immediately clicked on the bidding option.

"$1000." Kai spoke.

"Hmm... How about $500 ?" Kai spoke.

"I don't have much time... Just go one hour."

...

"Yep, I am going to sleep now." Kai spoke as he immediately fainted on his bed.
