Hayley’s Wrath

This battle has been the most difficult of all the ones that I have been until now. When we started Blake ordered to take advantage of the chaos produced by Spencer's ability and kill all the beasts that we can. It was a good chance, and it was easy to target the confused beasts as I froze at the moment they were on my sight, it was the easiest part of our fight, but when the effect of Spencer's ability ended I started to work on slowing down and supporting our people.

The attack of a chimera, a semi-human and a horse on fire caused a lot of loses on the right flank. The horse left after killing some people and the chimera, a winged goat, was frozen to death by me. Zak was still fighting the semi-human with my support, but he was severely injured while trying to hold the horse.

I did my best to hold the right flank with the help of some remaining humans and a lot of rats, but by that time the damage was done. The right flank was barely able to hold on, and the rats kept coming to support us, It was like that until Hope arrived.

I never thought too much about Hope's abilities. I have an idea from what Spencer said, but I never saw her really using her ability until now. Hope left the build, and shining grey feathers kept rotating around her, as soon as a beast tried to come near her it was pierced and cut by them creating a fantastic attack and defense system. I don't know how good those feathers are, but from the looks of it, they are enough to take down some beast and at least give us more time.

The right flank finally was recovering little by little, and at least it wasn't suffering a crushing defeat anymore.

I have to keep shifting my attention between the center and the flank, being next to each other the situation of the right flank affected the center profoundly. From time to time I also looked for Spencer and Gerhard and noticed them doing fine and even gaining the upper hand in the left flank after taking care of the fire-horse.

I noticed that Spencer was moving to support the center and was slowly moving nearer and nearer to the right flank to help the most damaged place.

His presence gave me the chance to go into the offensive again. Together with Zak we finally ended the semi-human leaving the right flank free of troublesome beasts for now.

I thought that things were getting better, but a tremor made me lose my balance and took me out of the zone making me fall to the ground.

The cow just moved, and just as if was a giant vacuum cleaner, it swept a whole line full of rats and enemy beasts.

I felt a shiver go through my back… is this really the power of an Alpha? Spencer and Rose defeated something like this? Should I focus and try to freeze it? But if he notices he will try to attack this place next…

I had no idea what to do. I'm scared. The cow as if it was playing with us didn't move right away. She waited, and the beasts resumed their attacks… but I resumed my attacks looking at Spence… I was worried that something might happen to him.

A new chimera appeared in the center, and I started to support Blake to take it down fast… people ran away in fear, but as if they were fearless the rats moved forward.

The fight was crueler now than how it was before. The battle continued without another interference of the cow, but that didn't last long.

Another tremor… this time I was ready and managed to maintain my balance, but I could feel my blood leave my face as I saw the direction that the Alpha mouth was pointing at.

I didn't have time to even open my mouth to yell at Hope to get out of there, it was already too late…

Hope managed to hold a few seconds before being affected by that force, I think she closed her eyes and fell unconscious because of the pressure of both forces acting on her…

By reflex, I looked at where Spencer was…

He bolted forward grabbed a bird on his way and jumped behind Hope, he was being sucked too… somehow he moved faster than his sister, he was probably was using his time abilities to catch up to Hope. They were already in the front of the cow when he hugged her and threw the bird out of the pulling force.

I don't know but whatever his plan was it failed… it was too late, they were being eaten alive.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

The scream escaped my mouth. They went into the cow's mouth, but before the buildings and the other stuff could go inside the bird exploded on the cow's face.

Something happened…

My connection with Spencer was suddenly almost disappeared, and at the same moment, Rose opened her eyes with a desperate face…

Without caring about my well-being I did my best to reach him, but I couldn't.

Rose left the bed and put on some clothes, getting ready to leave, I think she is trying to use her connection too with the same results as me.

'Rose~, calm down.'

"My connection with Spencer disappeared!! Something must have happened! What if he is dying!! The connection never disappeared before!... I-i-i need to go there!"

Rose was in a mix of shock and desperation, I could see in her mind that instead of the chaotic parallel thinking that always kept me away from her head all that was there were scenarios… and they were not happy.

She was trying to keep herself calm, but she was already thinking about the worst situation possible

'Rose my connection weakened too~, but look at me!!!! I'm still here!'

"I don't care!!! I want Spencer here!!!"

'I don't mean it like that!! I'm still alive!'

Rose froze for a couple seconds as she understood my meaning… the connections might have been lost. But Spencer was still alive. After all, if he dies, I would die too.

'Trust him… there must be a reason for the connection to be lost… but he is still alive. And going there in our state we only are going to be a liability… he told you that he is coming back…'

"Sorry, but I can't stay here knowing that he might be in danger…"

'Then send Paws there to see what is happening… he can help him if he is troubles right~?'

… a black kitten appeared from inside Rose body and left the room flying toward the east…

"Please… be okay"

The whole battlefield and even the cow suddenly felt a huge pressure fell on them.

Fear…

In all the place only four or five of the present living being were capable of handling some of the cold fear that was invading their bodies.

Blake felt it… and subconsciously turned his head toward Hayley.

She had felt on her knees, frozen tears fell on the floor creating a frosting that covered all the street around her.

Her eyes were focused on the cow as the coldness spread. Her power completely unleashed. People and beast fell unconscious, some cuddled on the floor hugging their knees or escaped… it was chaos.

The enemies started to freeze… none of them were forgiven.

When Blake saw that every beast suddenly froze, he felt shivers down his spine… was he going to be the next one?

But even in that state, Hayley had a clear objective…

The cow also felt scared…

After the explosion, the cow wanted to kill that duck, but before she could do anything to him, she felt Hayley's aura. His mouth was burnt, and the vision of one of the eyes was severed by the explosion… but the source of the threat was so clear that even without having any sense left she would be able to find her…

The cow felt cold but didn't think too much about it.

At least not until she tried to open her mouth to use her power against the new threat that came, but her jaw was completely frozen… the eyelid of the remaining eye wasn't closing either… and the cow was starting to get sleepy…

Under the surprised gaze of everyone in the battlefield even those that got to the point of cr*ping their pants the Cow's head was frozen… and the frosting kept advancing.

Hayley felt desperate…

"Why!?!?..."

Another of her tears fell on the floor.

'You should trust more in the Hero, Cryomancer.'

The words on her mind took her out of her trance-like state…

'If the Hero is still alive you might freeze him together with the cow, so you should slow down and give him a chance…'

His word made her realize… it's possible that he is still alive…

The pressure suddenly disappeared… the only thing that showed what just happened was more than half of the Cow's army completely frozen, the other half ran away… and the cow now was half frozen on the floor.
