CHAPTER 701: Letting Go

Little Skeleton, Metal Elite Zombie, Wood Elite Zombie, Earth Elite Zombie, Water Elite Zombie, and Fire Elite Zombie stood in a row. These six, who now possessed advanced intelligence and life, all looked at Han Shuo with anticipation and excitement in their eyes.

Of the six, Little Skeleton was already a godly expert cultivating in the elemental energy of death. He was already at the Mid-stage of the Lowgod Realm. Wood Elite Zombie, Fire Elite Zombie, Earth Elite Zombie, and Water Elite Zombie had also become Lowgods after encountering all kinds of random encounters. Wood Elite Zombie, who had received the energy from the Tree of Life, was even at the same Mid-stage Lowgod Realm as Little Skeleton. Except for the Metal Elite Zombie, all six of them received an astonishing increase in strength.

Elysium was saturated with elemental energies of all kinds, and was indeed suitable for their cultivation. However, the Elysium was also filled with all kinds of influences, powerhouses, and dangers. Even though the six possessed intelligence, Han Shuo still couldn't feel at ease. Besides, Han Shuo couldn't live with them, or else it would certainly not end well for Han Shuo or any of them.

Han Shuo was stuck in a state of indecision. He had no idea how to decide where they should go.

"Father, we have thought about it. We will make our way in this world on our own, alone. Don't worry, we've been in the Netherworld for a long time and know how to deal with danger. We also know some things about this material plane. Let us go, Father," Little Skeleton suggested. Of the six, he had been with Han Shuo the longest.

"How would that work? This world is nothing like the Netherworld. Experts of tremendous strength can be found all over Elysium. If you live alone, how will you deal with unexpected threats that are more dangerous than you can imagine? How can I feel safe?" Han Shuo was reluctant. He had become too attached to these six new life forms. When he thought of the dangers they might face, he wanted to keep them in the Netherworld forever.

"Father, it's only by overcoming dangers that we can grow! Calm down, Father. We all have our own special abilities. As long as we live in the right places, we can escape from any danger. Father, the Netherworld is hardly rich in the aura of death, it is not suitable for the five of us to develop. We do not want to rely on Father's power alone, we want to become stronger ourselves. After all, we have all grown up," the Earth Elite Zombie said with a puffed chest.

However, in Han Shuo's eyes, all six of them were still little children. Although Han Shuo knew that their special talents could keep them relatively safe in special environments, he still did not have the courage to let them leave his side.

""Father, we know the general conditions of this material plane. We plan to go to different dominions. Little Water will go to the Water Dominion, Little Wood will go to the Life Dominion, and so on. Since the people there are all cultivating in the same type of energy, I don't think we'll be in too much danger as long as we don't go out of line and cause trouble. Besides, it is only by coming into contact with those mighty high-level life forms that we can evolve even faster and become even stronger," Little Skeleton continued, trying to convince Han Shuo as he looked at him.

All six of them gave their own words of persuasion one after the other, as if they had planned everything back in the Netherworld. They gave their reasons and how they planned to deal with their enemies. Some words sounded childish, some were feasible. But nothing was done on impulse - they had clearly thought it through over and over again.

Han Shuo listened to the six little children's justifications with a big bitter smile on his face. He suddenly felt as if his children had all grown up and he could see their desire to make decisions for themselves. Although he felt satisfied, he also felt a much stronger sense of reluctance.

Deep down, however, Han Shuo knew that their arguments made sense. They had conquered the entire Netherworld, and there was nothing in this world that could threaten them. This was similar to the situation when Han Shuo wanted to leave the Profound Continent for Elysium. He knew that it was a very boring and painful thing to stay in a world without a well-matched opponent - especially with the knowledge that there was an even bigger Heaven out there waiting to be conquered!

After thinking about it from different angles and listening to the endless pleas of the six little guys, rationality finally prevailed over his emotions. In the end, Han Shuo reluctantly nodded and said, "Fine. You've convinced me. Going to separate dominions may indeed be best for your growth. However, you must promise me one thing."

"We promise!" the six little ones said in unison.

"No matter what or how, you must protect your own lives!" Han Shuo was serious and warned again, "Only by staying alive will you continue to grow stronger. Never forget that!"

"Understood, Father. We will stay alive!" Little Skeleton nodded and answered. The other five nodded as well.

"One more thing, we must keep in touch. Every fifty years, all seven of us will gather in Ethereal City, the capital of the Space Dominion. Regardless of the situation, each of you must be present in the city every fifty years. The clock starts ticking from today. Do you understand?"

All six immediately agreed. They were overjoyed to be allowed to roam the world on their own.

Looking at their excited faces, Han Shuo realised that his children had all grown up. They no longer wanted to be tied to a little Netherworld. There was nothing he could do about it.

Han Shuo then proceeded to explain everything he knew about the God Plane to the six little fellows to help them quickly adapt to this new world, especially in recognising the dangers around them. He explained what to look out for, which people not to trust, and any personal experiences and insights he had. Whether they understood it all or not, he gave them all his wisdom of life.

After lecturing for two months straight, having exhausted all the topics he could talk about, and seeing that the six little ones were bored out of their minds, he reluctantly came to a wasteland far from the City of Shadows and summoned the six from the Netherworld.

At the time of their farewell, Han Shuo once again reminded them, "Preserve your own lives. Make sure of that!" Even Han Shuo himself felt that he had become a wordy old man.

After listening to Han Shuo talk for two months straight, the six little guys wore sour expressions when it looked like Han Shuo was about to give another lecture. They looked at Han Shuo with pitiful eyes and begged him to stop talking.

"In short, remember every word I have said. Remember every single word. Protect yourselves well, don't cause any trouble..." After a while, Han Shuo finally stopped talking. In a somewhat sad manner, he said, "Go ahead and don't embarrass yourselves. I won't send you away!"

"Father, we will make you proud of us!" the six little ones promised. Although they were sad, it was nothing compared to the joy they felt. After saying goodbye to Han Shuo, they hurried out of his sight, as if they were afraid that Han Shuo would continue to lecture them.

After they had turned into six tiny dots and completely disappeared from his sight, Han Shuo let out a sigh. He knew that this time, after they left, they would not be more than a necromancy spell away from his side. Han Shuo was both worried and excited for them. As he sighed over the separation, he wondered what his innately gifted children would become in the future.

Han Shuo had yet to recover from this sad state of mind when he returned to the City of Shadows. At a checkpoint, Han Shuo again handed over his divine tablet and a piece of purple crystal coin. An arrogant looking divine guard who received Han Shuo's divine tablet, after examining it, had a sudden change in attitude and expression.

"Are you Bryan?" the arrogant divine guard suddenly became very polite as he asked Han Shuo.

Han Shuo nodded and asked in a rather confused manner, "What is it?" Han Shuo had not used this checkpoint the last time he and Carmelita had entered the City of Shadows. The divine guard could not have known about it.

"That... um... Miss Carmelita is looking for you. If you are that Bryan, you should look for Miss Carmelita as soon as possible," the divine guard returned Han Shuo's divine tablet with both hands. This piece of purple crystal coin was on his divine tablet. He didn't dare to take Han Shuo's money!

Han Shuo smiled bitterly after hearing these words. It was only now that he remembered the promise he had made to Carmelita, and that two months had indeed passed. It was also at this moment that Han Shuo realised just how influential Carmelita was in the City of Shadows. Even a divine guard at the entrance checkpoint would receive the information.

"Understood," Han Shuo nodded. After casually taking back his divine tablet and the purple crystal coin, he entered the city.

"Hey! Why doesn't that guy have to pay the entrance fee? He doesn't seem to be a member of the Sainte Family!" the few people lining up behind Han Shuo complained.

"Shut up! Don't tell us how to do our jobs. One more word and you will all be banned from entering the city!" the divine guard who had been so polite and kind to Han Shuo suddenly turned stern and shouted in irritation.

The few who were complaining immediately bowed their heads and shut their mouths as the divine guard scolded them.

Han Shuo's mood suddenly lightened a little as he saw the faces of those who were reprimanded and silenced. He inwardly remarked that it definitely felt pretty awesome to have special privileges.

After carrying the injured Carmelita back to the Sainte Residence earlier, the divine guards manning the front door recognised Han Shuo. Carmelita had given instructions beforehand, and a divine guard respectfully led Han Shuo all the way to the place where Carmelita was cultivating.

"You rascal, where have you been for so long? Hurry up now!" shortly after Han Shuo entered the Sainte Residence, Carmelita's voice rang out from a protruding platform at the top of a fifty metre high building.

There were defensive barriers inside the Sainte Residence. Those whose strength was below the Midgod Realm wouldn't be able to overcome the power of the barrier to get into the air. Although Han Shuo could use his demonic arts to fly to Carmelita, doing so would expose his true strength. Therefore, he walked up the stairs to the building, step by step.

"Elder Sister Kalina? You're here!" Han Shuo greeted in a friendly manner when he saw Kalina, the one-eyed plump woman. He was rather surprised that she had managed to survive and return to this place.

"Hello, Bryan. It was thanks to your rescue that my lady and I were able to escape that cave! I did not thank you properly. Now that you have come, let me do so formally!" Kalina stood as she said this. She began to perform the full formal Elysian etiquette towards Han Shuo.

""You are welcome. I did what I had to do to help. After all, we are partners!" Han Shuo said with a smile as he rushed over to Kalina, preventing her from completing the entire ceremony.

"Alright, that's enough Kalina. Go work on the things I have instructed you to do," Carmelita waved her hand, indicating to Kalina that she was dismissed. Kalina put on a smile and only left after bowing to Han Shuo.

After Kalina was gone, Carmelita said angrily, "Damn, those guys disappeared without a trace. When our men got there, all that was left was a destroyed Heaven's Gift. How annoying!"

In fact, Han Shuo had long expected this to be the end. Since Carmelita had managed to escape with Han Shuo, the location of the Heaven's Gift would surely have been revealed. The group that had infiltrated the Darkness Dominion had no choice but to flee as quickly as possible. It would be a miracle if they had stayed behind to await their fate.

"And if they did escape? You have memorised their faces. As long as you keep investigating, you will eventually discover their tracks. Then, in the future, when you become even more powerful, you could even go to the Water Dominion and the Life Dominion to finish them off. You will take that revenge!" Han Shuo comforted with a smile.

"It's always so nice to talk to you! Hmph, I will soon find out the identities of these people. When I'm healed from my injuries and I know their positions, I'll make them pay for the blood debt!" Carmelita said angrily.

You wouldn't be mad enough to go to the Dominion of Life and Water, would you? You should know that if they discover your tracks, you'll die a very quick death! Han Shuo suddenly felt that he shouldn't provoke Carmelita's hatred any further.

"Right, where have you been hiding all this time? Why haven't you come to see me for so long?" Carmelita narrowed her eyes and began to question Han Shuo.

"I learned a lot about the energy of destruction from you last time. I have spent this time digesting and understanding the new information," Han Shuo explained.

Carmelita rolled her eyes and replied, "You are obviously cultivating in the Energy of Death. What does the knowledge of the energy of destruction have to do with you? Hell, you even thought about it blindly. Your way is not right at all. How will you succeed in cultivating the energy of death?"

Han Shuo smiled and did not explain. Carmelita didn't seem too worried about Han Shuo's strength. She casually continued, "Forget it. Since you have come to visit me, I'm going to present you with a great business opportunity."

"What great business?" Han Shuo was stunned.

""Those medicinal pellets you gave me last time were a miracle! I spoke to my uncle and he was also very interested in your medicine. Many members of the Sainte family are sent on missions from their youth. Of course, some of them inevitably get injured. But if we have your medicine pellets, we can greatly improve their chances of survival. I have discussed it with my uncle, and we would like to invite you officially to work as a trump card apothecary in our House of Sainte! Carmelita said smiling.

"Not interested. I don't want to be tied to any big family, not even your House of Sainte," Han Shuo shrugged his shoulders and turned down this great opportunity that who knew how many others only dreamed of.

"Aha! I knew you would refuse!" Carmelita laughed and said, "Isn't that right? There are so many rules to follow when you join a big family clan. But there are still fools out there who want to squeeze in! Haha, my intention is to have my uncle order this kind of medicine from you while you set up a shop in the City of Shadows. Then, with my help, you can make a lot of money. As long as you have money and influence in the City of Shadows, you can start your own little family clan by accumulating contributions. Under my shield, no one will dare hurt you. You can make money and still make your own rules!" It seemed that Carmelita had planned every step for Han Shuo a long time ago. She really wanted to repay Han Shuo for saving her and Kalina's lives.

After hearing Carmelita's words, Han Shuo's eyes lit up. He was somewhat tempted. By going into the business of selling medicinal pellets, not only could he accumulate wealth, but he wouldn't risk exposing his identity or his true strength. According to Carmelita, he might even be able to start his own family clan. The prospect was indeed appealing to Han Shuo.

Han Shuo had promised Emily and the others that as soon as he gained a foothold on Elysium, he would return to bring them over. Han Shuo had many friends on the Profound Continent. After learning about the extraordinary advantage of cultivating on Elysium, Han Shuo was even more desperate to improve his friends' strength.

If Han Shuo could truly gain a foothold in the City of Shadows, accumulate wealth, power and influence, and with the protection of the Sainte family, the safety of his people would be assured. This would allow Emily and the others to move to Elysium much sooner.

Seeing Han Shuo's glittering eyes, Carmelita knew he couldn't resist. With the intention of repaying Han Shuo's favour, Carmelita struck while the iron was hot, saying, "You can be sure that with your miraculous medicinal pills, you have a bright future in the City of Shadows! When you have amassed enough wealth and contributions, I will ask my father to let you form your own family clan. Until then, you can bring your friends from your homeworld and use your wealth to recruit experts. The other four great family clans became what they are today by climbing up the ladder step by step. If they could do it, so can you!"

After listening to Carmelita's motivating and inspiring words, Han Shuo finally made up his mind. He nodded and called out, "Alright! I will work and claim a piece of the City of Shadows for myself!

Let's do it!"
