The villagers stared at the market soldier angrily. They did not notice Kyle.
"I don't think you understand what this boy has done. He stole food from master Lee's shop." they made it sound as if he took the food and ran off.
"When Master Lee asked him why he took the food, he just stood there and said nothing. So mannerless."
"He even ate to his full. Eating a total dish of about four plates."
"Six!" Master Lee corrected.
The murmur from the villagers soon filled the air.
Kyle raised his brow in amusement. 'Interesting! These people have no idea with whom they are speaking to.'
"This is the captain's order! Who dare to defile the captain of the royal guard's orders?" kyle boomed. "as I've earlier said, if you do not want to heed to it, you can just seat beside this boy in the dungeon."
Slowly, the villagers dropped their sticks and stones, and sooner than expected the large crowd dispersed
Kyle looked at the young boy who stared at him with wide eyes. 'Why is he staring at me in that manner? Is there something on my face?' He pondered instinctively touching his face.
Zagan stared at the soldier who had embroidery of the lynx clan logo on his uniform. 'Oh my! I just left the battlefield to the enemy's territory. How pathetic (he murmured to himself).'
Kyle turned to the market soldier and nodded, signaling him that they could leave now. The market soldiers escorted Zagan to the palace dungeon.
As he sat in the dungeon hopeless, Zagan wondered. 'What wrong have I done to deserve this? My problems seem to have no end. Why did I have to land in this clan of all clans?' Many questions filled his head; he felt he was going to run mad at any time.
Two guards stood at the entrance of the dungeon in their armor, helmet, and a sword by their side. A bass voice came from the entrance. "Food for the prisoner."
The Lynx clan had a low crime rate so no one was in the dungeon asides from Zagan.
The guard who brought food for Zagan was escorted by another soldier; one of who guarded the dungeon entrance.
After dropping the food, the guards began to chitchat.
"This little boy is something. How could he have eaten six plates of food and still look this unhealthy." The dungeon guard exclaimed.
"He looks lost and hungry. I wonder where he came from." The other guard pondered. He then turned to Zagan and asked, "What clan do you come from?"
At the sound of his voice, Zagan ran behind one of the pillars in the cell. And peeped from the side. Noticing his fear, the guard back out; then turned to the dungeon guard and pointed his fingers to Zagan's cell. "He doesn't seem to talk much huh?"
"I don't know its probably because he's still frightened." he guessed
"Anyway, the captain would be visiting the dungeon tomorrow to ask the boy some questions." the other guard spoke as he made his way out of the dungeon.
As he heard this, Zagan gulped and became restless. 'the captain would be coming? What if he is someone from the battlefield? What if the captain is commander Julius? I need to find a way out but how? This place is heavily guarded and.....' As he walked back and forth, he heard a different sound from the wooden floor. He took one step back and then a step forward to hear the difference in the sound.
He then bent and knocked on the wooden floor. He then used the tip of his spoon to remove the nails that held the woods together quietly.
On removing the first wood, he saw a tunnel-like space and He sighed in relief 'a way out' he thought wearing a corny smile. He kept removing the planks one after the other thankfully this hole was big enough for his body size. As he was about to crawl in, something came to his mind. 'Why would a well-built dungeon have this loophole before he could think further, heard the guards coming.
On getting to the dungeon, the guards discovered an empty cell and saw how he was able to escape. One of the guards asked the other, "Why did you put him in the training cell?"
"All the cells have been transformed into training cells because we barely have prisoners. This boy was quite smart for his age. I never knew he'd be able to figure it out." the guard panicked.
"Where does this route lead to?" The other guard asked.
In confusion, he replied"Ahh I don't know. This dungeon is used by the military and only they know where it leads to."
The other guard was irritated he immediately asked the other guard for the keys. He ran to the entrance but because of the confusion, the guard had no idea where he has kept the keys. He ran back and forth and checked his pocket but couldn't find it. Alas, he found them keyed to his belt. 'These keys must have superpowers. I checked for so long but it was right here.'
He ran back to the cell and opened it.
"Hurry! Jump in we must find the boy before anyone finds out about this."
They crawled for a long time but then got to a dead end. "What! How's this possible?"
Zagan who was behind the cell pole ran out of the cell and locked it. He then made his way out of the dungeon. Thankfully, the two guards went into the hole.
As he walked out of the dungeon, he saw the mighty castle filled with guards. 'Now what do I do?'
Just as he was running out of ideas, something crossed his mind. He ran back into the dungeon and carried two daggers and began to climb the wall.
He climbed higher and higher until he was spotted by one of the palace guards. "Hey!! Stop there!!!" He exclaimed.
He immediately entered an open window with a 'BAM' he fell in.
He fell into a storage room but the doors were unlocked making it easier for him to escape. He peeped through the door and when he didn't see any guards hence he began to run. When he got to the last room in the hallway, he pushed the door opened, realizing it was empty, he ran in and locked it.
'Whooh' he sighed inwardly with his forehead against the door. The sound of the guards approaching was heard. Scared, he slowly moved backward until he bumped into the huge bed in the center of the room.
"Where could he have gone?" the guards asked amongst themselves.
"We should probably check the storeroom properly he might be hiding in one of the barrels."
With that, they ran off. Not too long after the guards left, a cat showed up in front of Zagan startling him. He fell on the bed due to fright but his body collided with a bump on the bed. 'Oh no! There's someone in this room.' He instinctively turned and covered the person's mouth with his hands.
He stared at the little child who was around eight or nine covered in sweat and has his brows furrowed but his eyes were closed shut as if he was having a nightmare. 'Beautiful' he thought.
Feeling the temperature of the child he knew something was wrong. This child was having a fever and it's really bad. 'Oh poor thing. He looks terrible.' He spoke in his mind but then the unexpected occurred. He heard a voice in his head.
"Help!"
With widened eyes and gaped lips, he spoke in his mind again. 'Can you hear me?'
"It hurts. Help me!" the voice came again. This time more demanding. There was no one in the room so the only explanation was, this little buddy could hear him.
He was excited and an idea flew into his head. He instinctively took a pouch from his pocket and scanned through it before coming across Leah's special remedy. He put a few drops into the child's mouth and spoke in his mind again. 'You'll be alright in a few hours.'
He put the portion back into his pouch and was about to seat when he heard a key unlocking the door. He widened his eyes but before he could run, the door flung open and a woman with royal attire asked "Who are you?"
He jumped out the window and spoke in his mind,
'my name is Zagan.'
