Evelyn Fox was on her latest case, investigating a series of unexplained disappearances in the city. It seemed like every day, someone else would go missing, and no one knew what had happened to them. Eve spent her days combing through police reports, interviewing witnesses, and following up on leads. It was slow going, but Eve was nothing if not persistent.
One early morning, Eve received a call from a woman named Sarah, who claimed to have information about the disappearances. Eve didn't know Sarah, but she was desperate for any leads, so she agreed to meet her.
When Eve arrived at the designated meeting spot, she was surprised to find Sarah waiting for her in a dimly lit alley. Eve immediately felt uneasy, but before she could turn to leave, Sarah spoke.
"I know who's behind the disappearances," Sarah said, her voice low and urgent.
Eve leaned in, her heart racing. "Who?" she asked.
Sarah hesitated. "I can't say," she finally whispered. "But I can take you to them."
Eve didn't like the sound of that, but she didn't have any other options. She followed hesitantly behind Sarah as they walked out the cafe. Sarah led Eve through the dark alleyways, and her nerves grew more and more frayed with each step. They passed by rundown buildings and flickering streetlights, until they finally arrived at an old abandoned warehouse.
