"So what are you planning to do?" she asked after a few seconds of them drinking their wine.
"Me?" Max leaned back. "What made you think I plan to do anything?"
"Well… are you not a vampire?"
"The blood covens owe me nothing."
"What of Aldric?" she asked.
"He would not want me to intervene," he shrugged. "He is not weak enough to fall for something so… juvenile."
"When you said that the blood covens had been creating problems between the two clans does that mean they wanted to isolate the Lycans so they could slowly control them?"
"You are indeed very smart. Tell me…" he smirked. "How should I reward you?"
"Stop that."
"Stop what?" he asked, his face almost innocent.
"Smirking like that," Eve said, irritated. "Besides. I do not need another one of your rewards." What rewards? Wasn't he just looking for a way to make her suffer in… bed?
Her reaction, however, made him chuckle. "How about you?" he asked.
