Authors note: Hi guys, I am really enthusiastic about this project, so I hope you guys enjoy it too. Also I realised original novels don't have that much interactions...so, read if you want to. Highly recommend giving it 30 chapters before dropping. I do not own the cover of the novel, if the original creator wants me to take it down I would be more than happy to do so. Please Enjoy.

Chapter 7: Progress

Chapter 7: Progress

What Kai said was true.

It was not like Ren had never trained his physical body, since even Mages had to have a strong body in case defensive magic did not work properly, however just like for his family members, his talent in his physique was...nonexistent.

It was deemed that he would not have any talent for Aura.

After all, Life Codex worked in mysterious ways, just because one was not activated did not mean one couldn't perceive signs of them.

If someone's Life Codex was very clearly going to be someone about Physical Augmentation, then from a young age they would be stronger than their peers.

However, Ren had never had something that pointed towards the inclination of Aura. His physical talent was considered trash, which was not surprising for his Families Codex.

However, his family didn't really worry about this glaring fact due to the intrinsic nature of the world.

One couldn't have stats that were too skewed, the world typically sought balance in a being.

And thus, if someone's mind stats were extremely high, the mana they have would passively feed their body stats to bring it to an acceptable rank.

Just like if someone's body rank was extremely high, Aura would temper the mind, eventually.

First, it would finish tempering the body.

"And you can help me with that?" Ren questioned Kai.

"Yes. Even though unlike you, I use Mana, my Life Codex gives me intelligence boosts. Gaia must have deemed my skills a need to help you advance your physique in the fastest way possible."

"So why a weapon?" Ren questioned.

Didn't it make more sense to begin body workouts first before beginning learning how to use weapons.

Kai looked straight into Ren's eyes for a moment, before Ren saw Kais eyes change. From their normal black color, Golden Gears appeared into the iris of Kai as he seemed to analyze the very essence of Ren.

However they disappeared as soon as they appeared so Ren didn't even get a good look at them.

"I need to see if you're talented in any weapon due to your Codex. Some Codex's give multiple passive boosts but the users don't know about it until much later into the path. I need to eliminate such variables.''

Ren nodded at that explanation, since it made sense to him.

"Well then. I will be observing from there." Kai said as he pointed towards a window that showed a safe viewing area.

"You're not going to be here as I begin my training?" Ren questioned.

"Nope, I have a nice comfortable seat over there." Kai mentioned nonchalantly and left without hearing Ren's reply.

'What type of mentor did I get?' Ren couldn't help but sigh a little.

As he was waiting patiently, Ren watched as a 3d construct appeared in front of him.

It was something he had seen before and was familiar with.

Training with something like this is usually how people could view techniques without the need for instructors to be there all the time.

"This construct is similar to you in all physical statistics. All it has over you is technique in using the Greatsword. Your objective is simple, mimic the movements of the construct. There is no time limit to this so you may take your time."

As Kai finished his instructions, Ren watched as the construct in front of him materialized a great sword for it to hold and took a basic stance.

With the sword in front of it, the construct which had its feet spread tensed slightly and raised the greatsword high into the air, and then swiftly brought the blade down towards the floor.

As Ren watched the entire thing, he could instinctively feel his body move.

He mimicked the posture of the construct and bent his knees slightly.

He then held the heavy great sword in his hand and raised it. He struggled slightly at its weight yet strained a little as he brought the sword down with great momentum.

'That didn't feel right.'

As if to confirm his thoughts, a voice spread into the training area, "That was off. Your posture as you swing the weapon down is different from the construct."

As Kai finished his feedback, Ren watched the holograph move again, with the same perfect movements.

This time, he made sure to follow through with his swing properly.

'Something is still wrong.' Ren couldn't help but think. He had this feeling inside of him...telling him he was wrong.

And this time, before Kai could even give him advice on where he messed up, Ren got into the swinging sword again and brought the weapon down.

Again.

Again.

And again.

It only took 3 more tries for him to be able to mimic the swing perfectly and Ren didn't get any annoying feeling, telling him that he had messed up.

Outside in the observatory sector, Kai watched the whole situation with a raised eyebrow.

"Gaia." He called out to his bracelet.

"Yes, Ranker Heavenfall?" Gaia replied almost instantly to him.

"Send this terminal the usual rate of training of an average person in the academy for learning weapon arts."

"As you wish." Gaia replied, and right after that the terminals in front of Kai lit up.

"Well...this is certainly interesting."

...

Every time he swung the great sword, something inside of Ren was able to tell him if he was moving the wrong way.

It was this sort of annoying sensation.

Right after he finished his movement, sometimes even during the movement, something would tell him that he did something wrong.

Capitalizing on this feeling, Ren corrected himself and was quickly able to learn all the basics of the greatsword within the first hour.

Overhead, side, diagonal slashing and thrusting. He was able to figure out everything down to how his wrist should move with such a large weapon in his hands.

"Move onto a different weapon. I would prefer it if you used the spear." Kai's voice came from the viewing room.

Ren didn't question him and moved to change his weapon.

As he held the spear in his hand and stood in the center of the room, Ren once again mimicked the hologram movements of the spear.

However, for some reason, this time there was no sensation.

No matter how much he tried, his instincts didn't guide him in moving his spear in a certain way this time.

However, when he switched to another bladed weapon, a Katana, he was able to master it fairly quickly.

Yet with a bow, just like the spear, he couldn't master them as quickly.

The doors to the room opened, as Kai walked back into the room with a nonchalant look.

"Well you must have realized, your codex allows you to gain an insane speed of mastery of bladed weapons but not so much for other types.

Now I have a rough idea of where to focus you on. Our main objective is for you to have a body stable enough to accept Aura." Kai explained as Ren nodded.

"So for now, we will be using a lot of this." Kai said, as he passed over a pellet to Ren.

"What is this?" Ren asked curiously.

"Have you ever heard of the term doping, my friend?"

...

Inside the student council room, Magnus was currently sorting out papers provided to him by Aiden, the student council vice president.

"It seems like an interesting batch with a lot of prospective heirs of nations." Magnus commented as he read the student reports that Gaia had made for him.

He was in charge of the entire first year curriculum.

"Yes." Aiden said, as he pulled out 4 specific files and placed them in front of Magnus.

"But I believe that these are the ones that require the most attention. Their cases are special, and 3 of them even have a decent Codex that Gaia said has the potential to be of a rank higher than 'Heroic'.'' Aiden said.

Just like human statistics, even Life Codex's were ranked into the standards of the world.

However it was hard to quantify anything past the Heroic rank.

"I assume Gaia has provided specific one-on-one tutoring for them?" Magnus questioned as he skimmed through the files.

"Yes, however I think we should pay attention to this specific boy." Aiden said as he put a file forward.

"Ren Kriesten...so another one of that bloodline.

His brother was the previous head of the student council and I was serving as the vice-president then, yet he had never mentioned him." Magnus said as he read Ren's file thoroughly.

"Yes, as you should know they are both prospective heirs so they don't have the best of relationship." Aiden commented, "But that isn't why you should take note of him. Look at who Gaia assigned as his Student Mentor."

"Kai?!" Magnus said, his voice in shock. Up till now he didn't really have a major reaction since a Kriesten being in special consideration was the norm.

However, being provided Kai...that demon, was a whole different story.

Not only did Kai skip a year in his first year, which rarely happens. He was also crowned a Ranker.

Every year, there would always be an anomaly. Someone who could fight beyond the age groups and training the academy yet still choose to not leave the academy.

People who had decided to willingly stay, each for their own special reasons.

Ren's elder brother was such an anomaly.

So was Magnus.

And the one for the current 4th year is Kai.

"Keep an eye on Ren. With Kai as his mentor he is bound to be an interesting Case."
