Authors note: Hi guys, I am really enthusiastic about this project, so I hope you guys enjoy it too. Also I realised original novels don't have that much interactions...so, read if you want to. Highly recommend giving it 30 chapters before dropping. I do not own the cover of the novel, if the original creator wants me to take it down I would be more than happy to do so. Please Enjoy.
Chapter 6: Student Mentor
Ren wanted to question where his remaining group members were, since the Vice-Headmistress mentioned that everyone would be in groups but he decided not to.
Not like knowing the information right now was his duty.
However, Ren was definitely disappointed with how his mentor seemed to take care of himself.
It was not something that could be helped, since he had been brought up in high-society.
As Kai led Ren through the winding corridors of the academy, they soon arrived at a laboratory that felt like a world of its own.
The door swung open to reveal a chaotic yet strangely inviting space.
The walls were lined with whiteboards, each one covered in a dizzying array of numbers, symbols, and arcane theories, all scribbled in hasty, overlapping handwriting.
Papers and scrolls were strewn across every available surface, some piled high while others were pinned haphazardly to the walls.
It was a creative jumble that seemed to pulse with the energy of ongoing experiments and unrestrained ideas.
To an outsider, it looked like the remnants of a storm—an organized chaos where inspiration had erupted in a frenzy.
Ren stepped inside, his eyes widening at the sight.
He took a few cautious steps forward, glancing at the whiteboards.
Despite having spent years studying magic and theory, he found himself unable to decipher most of what was written there.
The equations swirled with unfamiliar symbols, and the magical theories seemed to intertwine in ways he had never encountered before.
Just as he leaned closer to examine a particularly convoluted diagram, Kai's voice cut through the overwhelming confusion. "Don't touch anything," he said, his tone casual yet firm.
"Everything is…everywhere." Rem couldn't help but mutter.
Kai chuckled softly, shaking his head. "It's an organized mess. I know where everything is supposed to be," he said, deftly maneuvering around a stack of papers, pulling some out and rearranging others with practiced ease.
The atmosphere in the lab was thick with the scent of ink and parchment, and the air crackled with a sense of discovery.
Ren felt a mix of awe and uncertainty as he took in the chaotic brilliance surrounding him, realizing that he had stepped into the domain of someone who thrived on this kind of disorder.
As he watched Kai navigate through the clutter with familiarity, Ren couldn't help but wonder what secrets and knowledge lay hidden in this labyrinth of magic and numbers.
As Kai rummaged through the scattered papers and clutter, he suddenly paused, his fingers brushing against something shiny hidden beneath a tangle of scrolls.
He pulled out a bracelet, its sleek design catching the light in the lab.
The piece was elegantly crafted, shimmering with an ethereal glow that hinted at its magical properties.
With a casual flick of his wrist, Kai slipped the bracelet onto his arm, its presence seeming to enhance his already relaxed demeanor.
Without missing a beat, he reached for another bracelet that resembled his own.
He tossed it to Ren, who instinctively caught it, feeling the cool metal against his skin.
"That bracelet contains a piece of Gaia," Kai explained, his tone matter-of-fact.
"However, most of its functions are locked for you right now. For the time being, all it shows is Gaia's evaluation of you. The only people who have access to this information are the professors, me, and the Headmaster."
Ren turned the bracelet over in his hands, examining its intricate design and the faint pulse of energy emanating from it.
As Ren secured the bracelet around his wrist, a flicker of light caught his eye, and a two-dimensional image materialized in his vision, clear and crisp yet only visible to him.
It glowed faintly, revealing the following evaluations:
Life Codex: ?
Aspects: ?
Strength: Common -
Agility: Common -
Stamina: Common -
Sense: Common -
Endurance: Uncommon -
Intelligence: Rare
Aura: Unlocked (unranked)
Overall Evaluation: Student Ren seems to have trained to become a mage since a young age; however, due to his Unique Life Codex, he has switched gears and decided to use Aura. He will have to train extensively to catch up to the average physique of Aura users, which is classified as Uncommon-. Aura will also require extra boosts to be controlled effectively within the student.
...
"So," Kai called out, breaking Ren's concentration as he lounged casually atop a cluttered table, swinging his legs over the edge while lazily regarding Ren.
"You're from the Kriesten Royal Family, right? Your codex has to be something special for you to choose to become an Aura user instead of sticking with Mana."
Ren had somewhat expected this question, after all his family were monsters inside of the human domain in the realms of Magic.
"Yeah, that's right," he replied, trying to sound casual despite the weight of expectations that came with his family name.
"But I didn't really choose it because of that. I just—"
Kai cut him off with a wave of his hand. "You don't need to justify it. I get it. But it's not every day you see someone from a prestigious family like yours pivoting away from tradition. Not that it matters in the long run…
Ren had been taught inside of the Imperial Palace from his mother that it didn't matter which energy one picked, since at the higher ranks everything blended in together.
And this was coming from someone who was a Saintess.
A Saintess...something he was so far away from to the point it was not even funny.
In this world, the ranks of powers were determined, with each major rank being a clear barrier for everyone to break through, at least for the Divine Trinity.
Right now, Ren himself was inside of the Common rank of power. This was where a large majority of teens and some adults were inside off within the human domain.
Following this, is the uncommon rank, which most ordinary people would never reach, but for noblemen with proper resources and training, was the norm even before the academy.
Following this is the Rare rank, the maximum someone can reach without any types of energy helping to enhance their bodies and mind constantly.
After this is the Heroic rank.
According to his mother, reaching the Heroic rank is a huge barrier to most people for a reason I would only be able to know when I myself had reached the bottle neck.
After this is the Epic rank, something which the most noble head of the countries were at.
The second highest rank recorded inside of the Human domain is the Saint rank...where his mother stood.
She is someone who was approaching the peak of humanity's limit.
"Alright then." Kai spoke to Ren, breaking his self immersion. "Would it be a good time for us to begin our training right now?"
...
Inside of a training chamber, something people in the academy had access to were Kai and Ren.
And at the side of it, Ren was currently looking at the plothero of weapons inside of the chamber.
The various shapes and sizes of weapons didn't overwhelm him.
He just calmly looked at all the weapons, since picking one now didn't necessarily mean he was locked into something for the future.
After moments of pondering, Ren had decided to go for the Greatsword as his weapon of choice.
The greatsword was a massive, double-edged blade with a gleaming silver finish, nearly as tall as Ren himself and crafted to deliver powerful, sweeping strikes.
Its hilt was wrapped in dark leather, offering a steady grip, and the crossguard flared outward like wings, adding both balance and fierce elegance.
Kai didn't really seem to care, as he patiently waited for Ren to be done and watched as Ren reached the center of the training area.
Kai was currently staring into blank space, or at least that was how it had seemed to Ren.
"So." Kai began. "Your type of training for the next few weeks will be simple. I think I know why Gaia has paired you with just me."
"And why is that?" Ren questioned, since he was also curious as to why he had no why Gaia paired him with this...interesting senior.
Kai was clearly a mana user and didn't know much about Aura.
Ren also made the observation of Kai never mentioning him having any first years inside of his group with him.
"Because you are completely unknown to it." Kai said.
Ren was slightly shocked at this evaluation, he was unknown to something that the headmaster created?
"After all, you're from the Kriesten family, it probably expected you to choose Mana, yet you chose Aura.
It probably then assumed your Codex helped your body amplifications, yet since your statistics were so low that wasn't the case.
You didn't make any logical choices, so Gaia sent you to me to make sense of you.
Also, you need strict regimentation and someone who can provide a lot of attention to you and not a lot of mentors are as free as me." Kai explained his thoughts.
