She stared at the picture of the crying emoji for a while and still found it hard to believe Xander had added this, or maybe it must have been added by mistake?
Was that possible?
She shook the thought away, it couldn't possibly have been a mistake.
But yet again, Xander doesn't look like the type of person who'd apologize so readily, her gaze never shifted from the paper and she found herself smiling a bit.
She really thought he would actually let her be, he was Xander Zephyr, he could get anyone but to Anxi's delight, he actually apologized.
Out of all the random ideas she'd think Xander would use when approaching her, the fact he would apologize was never one of them, to the point he even added a crying emoji?
She tried not to chuckle on that part but it was actually cute, she really couldn't imagine him crying, she was yet to give her answer and even when she spoke to him earlier, she didn't give him her answer despite telling herself constantly on the way that she would say no to him.
She had told herself she'd refuse him but was unable to say the word, almost like her mouth was stopping her from making a decision she would regret later on and now this just makes it even more difficult for her.
She got to her feet and wanted to step out of her office when she saw Xander and Andrey heading out and stepping into the elevator, Andrey kept listing things about what the next schedule would be like but Xander was barely paying attention to the point Andrey had to call for his attention several times.
Anxi wouldn't agree that she liked seeing him so lost in the clouds, if he returns then she'll have to meet him and speak with him, she won't forgive him right away of course, he'll have to make up for it before she gives her final decision.
But unfortunately, Xander never returned and she intentionally delayed herself till it was past nine in the evening. Xander normally shows up during this particular time but he wasn't available today.
Anxi was a bit disappointed but finally decided to go home, she'll talk to him tomorrow then if that's how it's going to be.
She stepped out of the building, locking the door and finally heading back home, her main problem at this point would be getting a taxi.
The road wasn't completely empty, a few passerby were in a hurry cause it seemed a storm was about to arise soon, the sky was covered in total darkness and the clouds were starting to thicken which made Anxi quite nervous, she'd be pretty scared if the path was completely lonely.
While searching for a taxi, a car suddenly stopped right in front of her. It was actually a taxi but when the driver's face came into view, he had a nose mask on.
"Miss, are you looking for a taxi?" He politely asked while Anxi stared at him for a while before nodding her head.
"Yes, I am."
"Get in, I'll drop you at your destination, Yu City can be very difficult when it comes to getting a taxi, your luck you met me."
Anxi had to agree to that but yet again, she still found it quite strange for a taxi to actually stop in front of her, she didn't feel right about this driver and would have totally ignored him, but Judging from the storm clouds, it seems like a terrible rainstorm is approaching and it would be even more difficult to get one by then.
"Uhm okay then."
She had no choice but to get in and unbeknownst to her, the taxi driver secretly smiled behind his nose mask and he started the engine's of the car, carefully wounding his way into the street while Anxi was unprepared for what she was about to experience.
"Where do you live, miss?" The driver asked, snapping her from her dazed state.
"Uhm it's actually close to driveway Layne."
The taxi driver nodded and added speed, the clouds above rumbled and Anxi could only hope she got home before the storm actually started, her grandmother had called and she already told her she'd be late.
But to her bafflement, the taxi driver suddenly took a different route causing Anxi to stare ahead, wondering if she was the one seeing things or if he actually took her through a wrong path.
"I…. I don't think this is the right path." She said to the driver while staring out at the unfamiliar street.
"It's a different route except it's a shortcut, this route would get you straight to driveway Layne, quicker than the other route, it's surprising you don't know of this."
"A shortcut?" Anxi scratched her head and from the previous owner's memory, she doubts there's actually a shortcut that leads to driveway Layne and shook her head in disagreement.
"I don't want to follow this path, take me through the path I'm familiar with." She urged the driver who only drove faster, adding to Anxi's nervousness.
"Believe me miss, you'll get home in time if we follow this path."
"Aren't you hearing me? I don't want to follow this path, take me back!"
But the driver didn't respond and just kept going. Anxi instantly sensed trouble and she doubts if he's even a real taxi driver. She sensed something strange about him when she first saw him and it seems her suspicions were becoming true.
The path suddenly grew lonely when they came across a signboard and wrote boldly on it was…
'HUNTER STREET'
"Where are you taking me??" She immediately asked after realizing she wasn't heading home like she had expected.
"Relax, if you do not wish to lose your life then keep quiet." He threatened causing Anxi to still at the backseat, his tone suddenly turning dark out of the blue.
Adrenaline instantly rushed through her system realizing she just got herself into some kind of deep trouble.
"Who….who are you?" She asked the driver who only glanced at her through the mirror and a look of satisfaction crossed his eyes after noticing her panicked expression.
"Your worst nightmare."
Anxi swallowed hard as she registered his words, okay so she's in deep trouble now, how will she escape from here??
She silently opened her bag and searched for her phone, each time her bag made a sound, she'd close her eyes tight, afraid the driver might just spot her.
Successfully reaching her phone, she remained quiet and secretly dialed a number.
