Friday finally arrived and Mia wasn't even sure of what she was going to wear.
"Ugh, the scar from the accident....I'll just use make-up. I should go buy a dress and do my hair—"
'You're poor and broke remember?' a tiny voice in her head told her.
"Thanks for reminding me I'm poor." She sighed.
Just then the doorbell rang. Mia thought it was the landlord coming for his rent, so she was hoping Aunt Megan would cover for her. But just then—
"Miaa!!!" Aunt Megan yelled.
"There's a young man here to see you." She added.
"Young Man?" she thought as she hurriedly ran out.
It was indeed a young man, he looked a few years younger than her, with his thin square glasses and fine black suit.
"Good day ma'am, I'm George. Secretary to the Chairman. My boss is out of town and he has given strict instructions for the order of today—"
"The Chairman as in Noel's father?—"
"Yes Ma'am—"
"Doesn't he have a name or something—"
"Well Ma'am, if the Chairman hasn't told you his name, then perhaps we should keep it that way." He told her in a matter of factly way.
"Oh." Mia mumbled,
"Now, back to the matter at hand, the first thing he instructed was a complete makeover for you. The Chairman says if you must be seen anywhere near his son, then you should look great and presentable."
"Okay that's just harsh. I always look presentable." She fumed.
"My apologies ma'am, I was just relaying his message—"
"Can you quit calling me ma'am! I'm not a freaking old lady!" She snapped.
"Once again I apologize. Miss Anderson." George said.
"Good." She smirked.
"Hello, I'm right here, can someone explain who this Mr. Chairman person is and why he wants to give you a makeover. And who's Noel anyways." Aunt Megan chimed in.
"That's none of your business. Aunt Megan. Mr. George I'll be right back, lemme get my stuff—"
"Your phone, outfit and coat will do." George smiled.
"Okay." Mia shrugged and smiled.
"Phone, outfit and coat? Can I come too?" Aunt Megan begged.
"Nope!" She replied popping the "p."
---
First, she was taken to a spar where she had the best manicure and pedicure, her fingers and toe nails were treated like delicate things and handled with great care.
'I never knew such a place even existed.' She thought with a smile.
Next they went to a beauty salon were she was also treated like royalty, her hair was washed, dried and styled into a low pony giving her this simple but elegant vibe. She opted for natural makeup and nude lipstick, and when she finally looked in the mirror and saw herself, she couldn't believe she was really the one.
After that, they went to a boutique and George decided to wait outside while she went in. The boutique screamed "wealthy" and "classy." with clothes from the best designers in the world.
"Whoa!" Mia exclaimed as she looked around.
"My annual salary can't even get me a dress here." She mumbled to herself.
"Good day ma'am, how may I be of help for you today." A random woman said with a look of scrutiny as she walked up to her.
"....Um, I came shopping?" She smiled nervously.
The woman laughed mockingly,
"Are you a shopper or a shoplifter? Because you know I can clearly tell the difference—"
"How dare you! Who do you think you are?" Mia suddenly snapped.
The woman sneered.
"I'm the manager and you are?—"
"None of your business!" George cut in as he walked in and stood in front of both ladies, his great height towering over the both of them.
"And who do you think you are?!"
"Can't you tell?!" He smirked.
"I'm her bodyguard."
"Oh." The woman replied vaguely.
"Madam." He called as he turned to Mia.
"Are you done shopping so I proceed with the payment?" He said then tactically waved a black card in front of the manager.
The woman swallowed hard.
'This young lady here must be one of these wealthy CEO'S wife or girlfriend, I misjudged her because of her humble looks. I could lose my job for this' the woman thought.
Mia decided to play along.
"I don't think I want to shop here anymore. George, take me to the best boutique here in B-City." She smirked.
"Yes—"
"Wait!" The woman yelled.
"Look I'm really sorry for being so rude, please don't go anywhere. I…I'll give you a 20% discount off everything you buy." She said desperately.
"How about a 30?" Mia smirked, while George forced back a small smile.
"S....Sure." the woman nodded.
"Then, it's settled. George, you can leave now, I think I can handle myself." She smiled.
George nodded and walked away.
Mia finally finished shopping, in the end she bought an elegant royal blue dress, a pair of beautiful black court heels and a black suede purse encrusted with gold.
'This is way too expensive, I'm going to sell it after this.' she thought to herself.
And just as the manager promised, she gave her 30% discount off the whole thing. Even though she wasn't very pleased.
"It was nice doing business with you Manager." She smirked,
Then George came to announce,
"Ma'am, it's time to go."
"Thank you George, I'll be there soon."
George nodded and walked away. Mia turned to the woman and smiled,
"Until next time." Then she majestically walked away.
The woman stood there, looking perplexed as Mia walked away.
'Who is she?' She wondered.
Just then, Mia received a text from Mrs Pena.
"For tonight, he's yours. Make it count."
Mia chuckled in confusion,
"What is she talking about?"
