Constance - Knowledge in the Dark

His name brought on tremors that I couldn't hold back. I curled into myself and started crying. I couldn't contain my fear and grief. My eyesight had started to blacken.

"Constance," my name sounded so far away.

"That's such a beautiful voice," I thought, "how could such a beautiful voice know my name. I'm a nobody."

The blackness had almost overtaken me, when I felt someone's hands on my cheeks, making my eyes focus.

"My Angel?" I saw a silver halo surrounding a crown of white hair, radiating behind her were wings as silver as the halo that surrounded her head. "A guardian angel, she's beautiful." That's when the darkness took me.

I could tell I was in a dream state before I opened my eyes. The brightness of my surroundings surprised me. I was next to a small lake, water reflecting the blue of the sky above me.

"Am I dead?" I asked out loud.

A soft melodic laugh came from close by, I turned to see a woman with the same tattoos sitting under a giant tree.

"No, you're not dead, you're in-between. This is a place between death and life." She replied, "I am glad you could make it, daughter."

This time I really stared her down. From the top of her head to her itty bitty toes. Her summer dress was silver, and it flowed around her like a cloud. She had white hair streaked with red and gold. Eyes that were glacier blue and I noticed that her tattoos weren't quite the same. They had all shifter species spread around her body.

She smiled politely and beckoned me closer. "I promise I won't hurt you, I am here to offer guidance."

I walked toward her and sat down on the bench beside where she stood. "You called me daughter," I said quietly.

She nodded. "I did because you are the last of my line, your warrior is the last bloodline of my fallen angel."

I stared at her, my jaw-dropping. "Did you just say Bambi is an actual angel?"

She nodded. "Her power stems from the spirit world itself, she is the spirit bridge, through her is how you maintain the ability to shift all forms. That's why you are more powerful together. If something happens to either of you before you reach full power, our lines die and chaos takes over."

"I thought it was our mates that gave me the power to shift?" Confusion was prominent on my face.

"Once you are bonded with your full harem, you will be able to wield power none have ever seen. You will control the elements except for one. Spirit will always belong to Bambi. She is the bridge."

"You didn't answer my question, is it not my mates that give me the power to shift forms?"

"No, Bambi is the reason you can choose forms, the spiritual bond that holds you together with her and your harem. This is the power that helps you shift forms. Because of her bloodline, the only spirit bridge on earth."

"What are we supposed to do?" I asked earnestly.

"You were born to rule the golden age of shifters, it will not be an easy task. But under you, there will be peace for centuries." She placed a hand on my cheek. "You must be careful, and you must prepare."

She got up from the bench and walked toward the small lake. "I'm sure we will speak again, daughter."

"Wait, what's your name? I don't know my lineage." I turned to ask but she had already disappeared into the lake.

The world around me started to disappear as I was left in darkness once more.

I heard rustling around me, but I couldn't quite open my eyes. They were heavy and I couldn't remember why I had fainted in the first place.

"She's fine Dean, I can feel her. Can't you, dear lord, if you treat me anything like this I'm gonna vomit."

"Wts he..trtn...me..." I tried to grumble, but couldn't form words cause my mouth felt like cotton.

I felt hands on my cheek as I slowly opened my eyes. I saw a pair of emerald green eyes staring back at me. I immediately felt safe, comforted, and loved. I blushed at him and tried to hide my face.

"No hiding from me princess," he said playfully as he brought my lips to meet his softly. "You had us worried."

Bambi scoffed, "I was not as worried, you are in my bed, and my room is the safest. He's just needy." She said as she winked at me playfully, but I could see it in her eyes. She was worried.

I noticed the suitcases by the door of her room and that's when I remembered why I had a panic attack. "He's going to kill us," I whispered, more to myself than to them.

Bambi came to my side instantly, "I will kill him, you can guaran-fucking-te it." Her eyes flashed purple and gold. "He will never come close to you ever again."

I nodded and reached out to her. "Let's go."
