Xiran's POV
"Oh! Xiran," She gasped with astonishment as if she wasn't expecting something like that from me. She placed her right hand on my face.
"You are like a bunny vampire as compared to other vampires. Don't degrade yourself, you are not that bad considering what you are."
"Is that supposed to make me feel better because it sure didn't?" I scowled at her still trying to rein in all the emotions she had stirred in me. She just laughed at my expressions again. Her smile was precious, I wished she would laugh more it suited her. I wanted to kiss her so badly.
"Go to sleep now." She ruffled my hair. Her hands were soft but her grip was strong and so was her body. It was perfectly shaped and showed the countless hours she must have spent in a gym. She wasn't joking about doing karate. I wanted to see how good she was.
"Tomorrow, we will do a sparring session." Her face brightened up at my suggestion. "Thank you, get ready to get your ass kicked." She winked at me.
"Oh! really. We will see who gets their ass kicked." I raised my eyebrows at her indicating I meant business. "Don't you dare use your vampire speed and powers during the fight?"
"I wouldn't even think of doing that." I grinned making her scowl. "Yahh, yahh." She closed her eyes and soon drifted to sleep. Leaving my heart and mind turmoiled in guilt. How did I become so blind and didn't comprehend that the facade she has created is a defence mechanism to shield herself from the likes of me? No wonder she had martial arts as her hobby. She merely wanted to keep the predators away and yet here she was. What kind of struggles she must have been going through in her life to seek money like this? There were so many questions but I didn't want to trouble her. She will answer them at her own pace. My duty was to keep her safe. These thoughts gradually pushed me into the arms of sleep.
When I finally woke up she had already taken a bath and was dressed in her clothes, sitting on the chair she was brushing her golden hair.
"Hey, good morning." She smiled seeing me awake.
"Morning, beautiful." I got out of bed and made my way to the bathroom. I freshened up and changed into a black tank top and matching tight pyjamas.
I stepped out of the bathroom and she was already done with her hair, she had carefully placed them on her left shoulder as tiny droplets dripped from them and disappeared in her hoodie. She had neatly folded my shirt and placed it on my coat. I felt this urge to take her in my arms as last night flashed before my eyes. But, I had to show restraint so I took a deep breath and tried to refrain from thinking about my lips devouring her skin.
"Hungry?" I asked with a smile.
"Always," She chuckled. I picked up the phone and called Madam Marci to send us a complete breakfast and a jug of cranberry juice. As I ended the call she spoke up: "Why is this room completely opposite of your room above?"
"I guess they show the two sides of my personality. The light and the dark."
"I see, which one are you wearing today?" Curiosity emanated from her face as she probed my grey ones with her deep turquoise orbs.
"Pure white, I am gonna be an angel today." I flashed her a huge smile and tilted my head to the right to indicate I was an angel.
"Hopefully not the fallen angel." She shot me a sceptical look. "We will see," I walked toward the other spare chair and sat down with my legs spread. We sat there in silence for quite a while before she spoke again.
"How about your family? Do you have one?" My body suddenly became rigid at her question. The family was the last thing I wanted to discuss with anyone, especially her.
"Let's not sour our mood by talking about my family. I want this day to be cherishable, not irksome."
Thankfully there was a knock on the door and I heaved a sigh of relief, she wouldn't pester me about my family now that the food was here: "Come in," I ordered.
Madam Marci and one of her helpers entered with our breakfast. She slightly bowed and I acknowledged her presence with a nod. She wheeled in the food trolley and stopped it near the chairs. "Thank you, Madam Marci." Aselia thanked her for the food while the elderly lady blushed and mumbled a few quick words before leaving.
Aselia's eyes lit up seeing the food. There were sausages, hash browns, mashed eggs, bread, croissants, butter, jam, tea and juice. The aroma was tantalising as she licked her lips with her tongue.
"Dig in," I handed her a plate. Then I filled a glass with cranberry juice and placed it by her side. She had already filled her plate and was eating to her heart's content. It made me happy that she loved eating although she was so bad at cooking. How was she that bad at cooking? Girls know at least something about cooking but her knowledge on the matter was near absolute zero. I took a napkin and placed it on my lap before filling my plate.
"Aselia, how come you are so bad at cooking?" She almost choked at my direct question. Her mouth was full of sausages which she quickly tried to engulf.
"Easy," I patted her back. Once her mouth was empty she spoke: "Umm, I never really had any interest in cooking so I never learnt. Eating on the other hand is my passion."
"I can clearly see that." And my remarks made her blush. We finished our breakfast and washed our hands.
"Aselia, why don't you go and change into gym attire and meet me in the training room in two hours? I will send Frila to get you. Let's get this breakfast digested first."
"Alright, sure." She waved at me before leaving as my eyes trailed her till the door closed. Her scent prevailed for a long time after she was gone. Intoxicating me, burning me with desires, and probing holes in my heart. Why was I longing for her like that? I can't have someone like her, that dark part of me would engulf the light she holds. And my fucking family can never know about her existence. I closed my eyes so I could escape this prison of longing and desires she had caged me in. But there was no escape for me for I desired her now as I had never done anyone else.
