Sonia replied without turning, "It's almost noon."
Victor almost spat out the tea he was drinking. He said, "Oh come on dear. Little Aria is allowed to sleep in a day or two."
Sonia turned to glare at her husband. She said, "It's because of you that this 'little Aria' has become so spoilt."
Aria tried to persuade her. She said, "Sorry mother, but I really couldn't sleep last night. And I think I might have caught a cold."
Sonia was still angry as she said, "I don't care if you could or could not sleep. Because you were so late, you're not getting any breakfast today."
She turned around and humped. Victor was about to say something to persuade his wife when Aria suddenly let out a loud sneez.
Sonia turned around to look at the girl and all her anger flew away like leaves in the wind. She rushed upto Aria and began fussing about her. Sonia put her own coat over Aria and said, "That's why I always tell you to wear more layers. See, now you caught a cold. Here, sit down. I'm going to warm up some soup for you."
She made Aria sit on a big chair and wrapped a blanket over the coat she had just made Aria wear.
Jacob was shocked to see the 180 degree change in Sonia's behaviour. As Sonia hurried into the kitchen, he caught Aria's eye and she winked at him with a grin.
It was then Jacob realised what had really happened. He thought, "My my, I need to learn this trick. Not only did she get out of scolding, she even secured herself breakfast. Now that's a genius."
After Sonia had warmed up some breakfast for Aria, the three of them sat around the dining table and Victor motioned for Jacob to join them. After the four were seated, Aria said, her mouth full, "So, what did you want to talk about?"
Victor: "Don't talk with your mouth full. it's bad manners."
Aria swallowed and again said, "So, what did you want to talk about?"
Sonia: "We have come to a decision."
Aria looked at them with confusion all over her face. Jacob thought internally, "This girl is really too good at pretending. She's acting like this even after I told her it's about the academy."
Victor: "We have decided to let you go to the academy."
Aria jumped from her seat, almost spilling the soup on herself. Luckily, she had good reflexes and caught it before exclaiming, "Really?!?! Really, really really!?!?!?!"
Sonia: "Yes, really. But we do have some conditions. Sit down first."
Aria sat down and Victor began, "Firstly, you will be going there with Jacob. We have asked him to keep you in check in the academy. Remember, even a toe out of line, and we will know about it."
Aria opened her mouth to protest but Victor put up his had to silence her.
He motioned to Sonia, who continued, "Secondly, we want you to write to us every once every two weeks and come visit once every four months."
Victor: "If these are acceptable, you may go to the academy."
Aria immediately jumped up from her chair. She said, "Of course they're acceptable. I'm going to the academy. I'm going to the academy!!!!!"
