Invasion and Betrayal

It was her father, the Emperor of the Eastern Empire of Elysia himself, Emperor Charles, on the ground bloodied as his throat had clear cut marks made by a knife.

"P-Please, please, do not do this!" Empress Mona begged for the assailant to stop whatever it was he was doing, but it was far too late now, the Emperor had fallen, and she knew that she was next. "Why?! Why must you do this, you damn monster!" She resorted now to swearing at the suspect, these would be the last of the words that would ever come out of her mouth, as she was beheaded right in front of where Amaranth was hiding.

Amaranth's sweats were cold, she wanted to scream, but she knew that she had to fulfill the promise made between her and her mother, that she must hide in this closet and live. She must live, no matter what might happen.

The suspect got nearer and nearer to the closet, she could not help but cover her mouth with both her hands, careful not to let even the slightest and lowest volumes of whimpers to come out due to her fear.

But when she saw who it was, she had finally lost it and felt like she was knee-deep in the relentless pit of emptiness and despair. The one responsible for killing her parents, both Emperor Charles and Empress Mona, was none other than the Emperor's beloved younger brother, Grand Duke Garamond, her own uncle.

"U-Uncle Garamond…why?" She felt helpless. Suddenly, loud explosions and screams were heard from the party in the hall. This caused the Grand Duke Garamond to come running out of the room as he washed his hands and threw the knife down a window.

Amaranth wanted to stay in the closet, she wanted to not move even an inch. In front of her was the battered and mauled body of her parents. The two people who meant the world to her. Now they were gone, left with nothing but empty carcasses with looks of horror on their deceased face. It was betrayal. Betrayal of the highest kind, a brotherly betrayal.

Amaranth took in what she saw for about ten minutes before some knights went inside the room. She would have ran out and made her presence known had she not noticed the armors of these knights. They were not Elysian knights at all, no, their marks and insignias as well as blue tinted armors only meant one thing – they were from the Western Kingdom of Wilhelm. "Look! This is the Emperor and the Empress, right?" One knight asked the other. "Y-You are correct, I have to inform the others of this!" He shouted.

The Eastern Empire of Elysia was about to fall. And it did not even fall with a single fight left in it, both of the highest ranking authority figures assassinated by none other than her uncle, and an imminent invasion which made the most of such a tragedy.

"W-Wait, they have a daughter, right?" The knight asked. "Find her!" They scoured the room the best they could, and they were now nearing where the closet was.
