Chapter 32: The well-deserved rest of the red dragon emperor (IV)

Serafall Sitri, the Demon King Leviathan, also known as Miracle Levia-tan, a magical girl, was peering through the gap between the door of her sister's room. Her hands were tightly gripping the door as she watched her dear, cute sister smiling while playing with a boy she knew only from certain conversations. She couldn't believe that her almost stoic little sister was smiling so much in front of a boy.

She was so jealous!

Even though she had certain important jobs as a Demon King, she had been watching Sona for the past few days. She always played with that boy, every day. And Rias would also join them from time to time.

Serafall bit her lips before she couldn't hold it in anymore.

"Ahhhh! I can't take it anymore!" she screamed as she kicked the door, ripping it off and sending it flying away.

"O- Onee-chan!" Sona exclaimed in surprise at seeing her sister entering so aggressively. Jon looked at her curiously before smiling. He stood up from his chair before walking over and taking out a notebook from his magic pocket.

"You're Serafall, right? I've watched your show with Ddraig. You can consider me a fan. Could I have your autograph?"

"O- Oh…", Serafall froze, her momentum lost really fast. She stood with her arms raised as she looked at Jon's notebook.

"Sure. I can always give a… Not that!", she shouted before slamming the notebook down. "You evil dragon! I won't let you take my precious So-tan!"

"Take?", Jon asked bewildered. "Though I never had that intention? We like to play board games. She's a dear friend, who I can talk to about many things."

Jon wasn't lying. Both Rias and Sona were close friends. After the problem of immersion in imaginary numbers was solved, she has spent weeks in Japan, Kuoh. He visited Rias and Sona to chat about all sorts of things. With one he could easily talk about food and anime, while with the other he could talk about more intellectual things and desserts. Little by little, they got quite close, to the point where they told each other more personal things.

"That's true, Onee-chan! Please don't compare Jon to other lecherous men."

"Ah! Ahh! I knew it, now you're defending him! He's clearly poisoned you!" Serafall shouted while pulling on her pigtails.

Jon frowned a little. He felt offended by those words.

"Please don't say such things when you don't know me. I have no bad intentions with Sona."

"Humph!" a cute snort came from Serafall as she crossed her arms. "Then I ask you, is my little sister beautiful?"

"Onee-chan!!", Sona shouted embarrassed. Her cheeks were hot as she looked at her sister, but she also looked at Jon's back for a moment, as if waiting for the answer.

Jon nodded immediately. "Sona is one of the most beautiful girls I've ever met." He had no problem admitting that. It wasn't a bad thing, right?

The Demon King narrowed her eyes. "Ohohoho~ Good, good. Now, answer this: what's the best thing about my cute little sister?"

Tilting his head, Jon didn't take long to answer either, but he didn't know why he was being questioned like that. Wasn't it just Serafall trying to get her evil goals that she made up in her mind out of him?"

"The best thing about Sona is her intelligence and her beautiful eyes. Ah, I like them too... No, wait."

"Ha! I knew it! You were about to say her thighs, weren't you!"

"How did you know that?! No, ah, I..."

Looking at the flustered Jon, Serafall raised her head arrogantly. "Gotcha, you evil dragon. I knew you wanted to take her."

"Please don't say that kind of thing, Miss Serafall," Jon sighed. "Is it really bad that you think your sister is beautiful? I have no bad intentions."

"Sister, I think that's enough, don't you think?" Sona frowned, but inside her heart was pounding. To her, Jon was the only boy she could truly talk to at ease about many topics that interested her. Be it academic subjects, dessert recipes, chess, board games, and more. She truly enjoyed spending time with him, to the point where, for the first time in her life, she didn't care if she lost in a game of chess, and such a thing was a lot to say.

"Declare your true intentions!" Serafall declared seriously. "My sister is the most precious thing in life. I won't let you take her."

Jon moved his lips, a little dissatisfied. Her intentions weren't really bad. Just... Sona, to him it was...

"If she said it, shall we stop arguing?"

"Jon?" Sona asked surprised.

"I'll think about it," was what Leviathan said.

Sighing, Jon frowned slightly as he thought about the words he would say. He was silent for a few moments before nodding to himself. "You're also Sirzechs' friend, right? Then you should already know where I come from."

"You're an alien, from another planet."

"Huh?" Sona tilted her head.

"True."

"Ah?"

"That world, my homeland, is in what was once the medieval age here. Kingdoms, Houses and their Lords, wars, etc."

"What does that have to do with this?"

"Please wait. "I'm trying to get there..." Jon said seriously. "I was born out of wedlock by my father. That made me a bastard. And in the eyes of the vast majority, I was a child born of lust, a human being who would betray everyone, an evil that shouldn't exist. My father, the lord of Winterfell, raised me well enough. I was able to learn knowledge, sword fighting, and archery, I lacked nothing. But, even so, I still felt like I didn't quite belong there."

"That's silly."

"Isn't it? Being despised just for being born. I didn't even ask for that, but it happened," Jon shrugged.

"But then, something or someone transported me here, to Earth. In this place I could be truly free. I learned new and wonderful things, made a brother in the form of Ddraig, fought without having the need to lose my life in the form of a ranking game, and also fought in a battle where I could have died, against an unknown life form that did not belong to this world."

"SHPD, right? I heard you," Serafall frowned slightly.

"The truly important point here..." Jon said seriously. "The important point is that I will not pass up the opportunity to live doing whatever I want. I became friends with Sona because she is interesting, impressive, and wonderful. She is a good person, Miss Serafall. If Ddraig is the way I found a true brother who supports me in everything, Sona is a friendship I always wanted in my life. And also..."

"Also?" Serafall clenched her fists as she narrowed her eyes.

Jon glanced at Sona, who looked at him in surprise at hearing all the new information. She knew that Jon fought alongside Grigori in an important battle, but she didn't know that there was an alien life form involved. Nor that he was a person from another planet.

He sighed a little before looking into Serafall Leviathan's eyes.

"I like her."

At that moment, Serafall's aura exploded around her. A blue aura appeared like a flame surrounding her body as the temperature dropped and the ground froze.

"You..."

"Is it that bad?" Jon asked. "I'm not suddenly saying that I want to marry her. That kind of thing is too early to even think about it," he wasn't afraid of Serafall. The freezing wind didn't seem to hurt him as he stood in front of Sona.

"Before I came to this planet, I never imagined that I could fall in love. I thought that no one would want to have anything to do with me. And I myself thought that it would be a disgrace to father a baby because of my position in the world. It was after living like a normal person that I only just started thinking about things like tastes and types."

Looking at Sona, he smiled a little embarrassedly. "I'm sorry, this is really sudden. However, I really like you. Your dark hair is cute. Your eyes look like wells that I can sink into without fear. I like talking to you about math, history, and physics. I enjoy playing chess and cyvasse. Even that clumsy side of yours when you make baking, I find adorable."

Jon knew perfectly well that it was all sudden, that it came too fast. But could he really help it? He never had that kind of chance, and when Sona came along, he found the first woman he enjoyed doing everything with. Perhaps it was because he never had that chance that made him think that way, but even if it was, he didn't wish to pass up the opportunity. Even if he was rejected, even if he was scorned.

This was not a world where almost all marriages were decided by parents. Even if in the underworld it happened just like in a few parts of the world, it was to a lesser extent than in Planetos. Here, where love could be born in sudden ways, Jon found an opportunity he never expected.

So, wasn't it good to admit it and accept it?

Yes, even if he was rejected, as he thought would happen. Even if he was scorned, as seemed to be happening with Serafall.

And as he said earlier, it's not like he was looking to marry Sona. That kind of thing could only be thought of if the other party accepted his intentions. And probably, it would be years before such a thing. Right now, Jon just wanted to try to connect better with Sona; he hoped she would reach out her hand and say something like, "we can start small, maybe with a date."

"I'll ask you another question," Serafall declared deadly. Her eyes no longer had the usual lively light. Sona, who was staring at Jon with her mouth agape, snapped out of her thoughts when she heard her sister.

"I'll answer as honestly as possible."

"Well, well, well... at least you have guts."

"I am the Red Dragon Emperor," Jon declared proudly. "Grits is the least of my shortcomings."

"Heh, quite well said, dragon. So tell me, would you be willing to fight for her if other men suddenly appeared seeking her hand?"

"That..." Jon blinked with a strange expression. "Is that really necessary?"

"What?"

"I mean, Sona is capable of holding her own. And from what I heard, no one her age can beat her at chess, so no one could possibly engage with her," Jon said calmly, but suddenly narrowed his eyes which turned green for a moment.

"However, in case someone tries to force her... Well, I hope her family can arrange a proper burial."

 "Would you really kill them?"

"Killing is an understatement. I already said that he appreciated Sona. So seeing her happy is important, right? My brother tells me that annihilation is the best option. It's better that there's nothing left."

Serafall blinked as she began to lower her aura level. "Then what if he doesn't choose you? If he chooses another man or woman."

"In that case, there's not much she could do. It would be her decision. Even though I have a brother who likes to annihilate the enemy, I know a man who has taught me things... a little different. He says that letting go is also a form of love."

Frowning, Serafall approached Jon as her aura completely dropped back to normal. Then, she kicked his calf.

"Hiik... Hiik..."

"Onee-chan?" Sona asked as she heard sobs coming from her sister. Then, he saw her fall to her knees as she raised her head, letting out rivers of tears.

"It's not fair! So-tan, it's not fair! How can she be angry at this evil dragon?! His words are too aggressive, but also gentle... Hiik... Guaaaa! So-tan is being taken away from me!"

"Uhhh... ", Jon didn't know what to do in such a situation. He never thought that the Demon King Leviathan would start crying like that. Sona, right next to him, sighed before kneeling in front of her sister, wiping away her tears.

"Why are you always like this, sister? So exaggerated with everything. Even if I had a boyfriend, it doesn't mean I would go away..."

"But you won't be spending time with me anymore! Who will I dress up as a magical girl for funny photos?! I won't be able to see your funny expressions so often either!"

"Is that what's bothering you?!" Sona growled.

"Um… There's something that—"

"Your silence," Sona cut him off immediately. "By Lucifer, this is all so sudden that I don't even know what to think. What do you think I am?"

"Sona Sitri?"

Jon recoiled at the cold gaze as he lowered his gaze. "Ugh. I'm sorry. Honestly, I never thought I had a chance. That's why I didn't say anything."

"Humph. How long have we been friends?"

"Huh?"

"Answer the question, Jon Snow!"

"Months. And more specifically, four months if we round it up."

Sona looked to the side upon hearing the answer. "…. Other people have done it in less time…"

"Sona?"

"Why me? It could have been Rias, right? She's also quite close to you. She clearly shows it best with the kisses on the cheek she gives you whenever she sees you or when she leaves."

"It's true that Rias is beautiful, but I like you more. The peace of mind you give me is comforting," Jon's gaze softened as he looked into Sona's violet eyes. "No matter what things we do together, be it a game of chess or a chat, even just drinking tea in silence. I feel at peace around you."

"Don't say anymore!" Serafall yelled at him before squeezing Jon's right leg. "How are you able to say such soft and cute things without embarrassing yourself?!"

"Do you think I don't feel embarrassed? I'm dying inside!" Jon shouted, proving that he was telling the truth. "This is my first time making a confession! I'm simply saying what I feel and have felt all this time!"

"That makes it worse for me, you idiot! Every time you open your mouth, I feel like you're pushing my So-tan further and further away!"

Sona Sitri sighed aggressively at that moment. It was clear that being between a man who had honestly confessed to her and her boisterous sister, wasn't the best thing for her heart. However, she'd be lying if she said she didn't feel flattered and appreciated upon hearing Jon's words. She didn't hate him, and if she had to decide, then she'd say she likes him.

How many people hadn't made fun of her dream? Only her family, her friends, and her best friend Rias' family. How many people had described to her how beautiful she was? Only her family and Rias. The rest of the men who tried a commitment, only wanted her for being Leviathan's sister. She heard many, both in the Underworld and in the human world, declare that she was too cold and stoic.

Glancing sideways at Jon, who for the first time saw him blush, she smiled slightly.

"I guess after saying so much, you'd take me on a date?" She didn't lose anything by trying, right? Right? It was her first time feeling like going on a date would be a good idea.

"I will! If that's what you want, I will!"

"I'll kill you!" Serafall declared, but received a slap on her forehead. "Auchi~!"

"Do you want your little sister to be discouraged?"

"Uh... No, but..."

"It's not like anything bad is happening, Onee-chan. I'm a girl too, you know? Even though I don't show it, I've also wished for this kind of declaration and situation at some point."

"Well... If So-tan says it like that, I can't help it... But if he does something bad to you, you have to tell me! Your big sister will shine brightly at that moment!"

"Please don't shine too brightly, you might destroy a country or two," Sona sighed wearily.

"Erm... I could just shine so that doesn't happen."

"Jon, don't you imitate her!"

"Sorry, I couldn't help it."
