Dimension Lost

Hello there, welcome to another "rant", well i say rant, but it's more of an informational chapters at this point.

Anyways, this time we will be talking about Dimension Lost! A Sacred gear that saw many uses across the series.

So without further ado, let's dive in:

1-Base-form:

> Kiba then questions Diodora.

> ".... The activation requirement is either I or someone affiliated with us gives the signal to start, or if I was to be defeated. The ability of the barrier is to increase the power of the one in the restraint, in this case Asia, and reverse its effect."

> -Reverse?

> Hold on... Then I thought of a bad conclusion... In the match against Sitri, Asia's healing ability was reversed and….

> Kiba seems like he also realised it, and he questions him again.

> "What about the range of its effect?"

> ".....This field, and the viewing room where the observers are present at."

> Ddraig, can't you do something about this? You are also a Longinus, right?

> [No, Dimension Lost is a higher rank Longinus than the Boosted Gear. And if it reaches Balance Breaker, its near limitless. Please remember it. Longinus more powerful than the Boosted Gear exists.] --Volume 6, Life 4.

Yeah, what most people forgot is that Dimension Lost was actually the 3rd Longinus to be introduced into the series.

I honestly can't blame you guys, even I didn't realise of they even introduced this thing in the anime. But yeah, the BDSM bondage on Asia is Diodora arc was made by Dimension Lost, and this barrier was made by the Balance Breaker, it has the effect of powering up and reversing the power of the individual held in, then spreading the effect. Yeah, it can do shit like this apparently.

Anyways, to summerize: Dimension Lost, ranked 4th among all Longinus, considered a High-Tier Longinus and the ultimate barrier to Sacred gear.

It manifests in the form of a purple mist that can seal or teleport anyone it envelops somewhere else or in another dimension. It normally different but limited barriers to either block, teleport away or seal something.

Still, despite this limitations on the base form, it is an absolutely amazing Longinus as it's weilder is never really worried about either being caught, struck down or caught, unless of course they get speed blitzed, they didn't retreat in time or just didn't want to go away for some reason. We have:

> "Capture and bind, mist!"

> The mist from before began to surround First Gen and gathered.

> "By the justice of Heaven, thunder sealing the Dragon's jaw. Prostrate upon the ground."

> Thud.

> First Gen chanted the spell, then tapped his staff on the ground once, and the mist dispersed! He broke through that kind of mist just like that! --Volume 9, Life 4, part 2.

As we can see, it's used something like this in its base form. Although sadly not entirely useful against stronger opponents in its base form.

As for its range, we have something like that mentioned multiple times:

> "Dimension Lost is also extremely dangerous depending on the user. Once the mist reaches the scale of countries, it can transfer an entire country and its people into the Dimensional Gap to be destroyed." --Volume 9, Life 3, Part 4.

So, the mist can scale up to country size and them just throw the whole thing into the dimensional gap for shots and giggles.

2-Balance Breaker:

> Along with his scream, Georg's magic that was heightened to its limit burst and created countless amounts of magic circles that covered the whole sky of Urakyoto! Amaaaazinng!

> The whole sky was filled with magic circles! It's even bigger than Rossweisse-san's magic that was strengthened by Asgard's magical weapon [Mistilteinn Wand]! By the way, If I'm not mistaken, the magic and magic circles are of Norse Magic, Demonic Spells, Fallen Angel Spells, Black Magic, White Magic, Fairy Magic and the like, he surely can deal with a great variety of them! Countless numbers of those spells were being deployed! This was the true power of the Longinus user and Magician Georg!

> Georg then clapped his hands. As he did, the mist started to appear in that place. As he opened his hands slowly, there was a rectangle thing appeared from in-between his hands. That will be the basis of the pseudo-space.

> After Georg put up several protector-like things on the pseudo-space base, he raised it to the sky. When we saw the space-like three dimensional object floating up, it started to emit divine lights and then was transported using a magical circle. With this pseudo-space would spread inside the other dimension. To think that such a small thing would become as big as the Urakyoto…

> —The Balance Breaker of the High-tier Longinus [Dimension Lost], [Dimension Create] was an ability that lets its user create a barrier. The barrier that's created with that ability could be infused with various effects.

> This time, a solid feature was added to the barrier so that even Primordial Gods or Maou-class Devils couldn't escape easily. That was the protector thing that he added before. It's the numerous barriers that were also deployed around the pseudo-space. Their functions were to become a solid support for the space so that the enemies wouldn't escape, as well as not to break when we went all out inside. --Volume Shin 3, Life 3.

Now, to be fair, the Balance Breaker of Dimension Lost is absolutely bonkers in my opinion. I personally consider it more Impressive than Cao Cao's weird ass Sub Species Balance Breaker.

Anyways, as it says above: The balance breaker allows Dimension Lost to create a "Barrier" that can have any kind of effect the user want.

This "barrier" is actually more like an artificial Dimension which the user can modify its settings as he likes.

Want a Dimension without Oxygen? Sure. Want a Dimension with temperatures of the surface of Venus? Sure. Want a Dimension filled with Elemental light energy to help buff the hell out of your Light spell? Sure.

Let's go over some examples of this "barriers" of Balance Breaker:

> ".... The activation requirement is either I or someone affiliated with us gives the signal to start, or if I was to be defeated. The ability of the barrier is to increase the power of the one in the restraint, in this case Asia, and reverse its effect." --Volume 6, Life 4.

Here we have a "Barrier" A.K.A. "Dimension" that can "Power-up" and "reverse" the ability of an individual bound in it.

> Georg then says.

> "I'm sorry, Heracles. Jeanne. The black flame of Vritra over there was denser than I thought, so it took a while to dispel it into another dimension. It has been a while since I made a dimension for dispel. –Just like the legend says, it certainly had an ability with a strong curse and grasping. Damn Vritra." --Volume 12, Life -1, Part 1.

As we can see, we have a "Dimension" A.K.A. "Barrier" that can help in "Dispelling" in general. Either Spells, curses or anything really that can be "dispelled".

For this, the "Barrier" was simply focused on being "Solid" So that no being trapped in could escape easily. Of course, durability is one thing, being highjacked is another.

Now, this last point raises an interesting question: Just how durable are these so called Artificial Dimensions created by Dimension Lost? Like, as far as we know, people breaking space isn't that uncommon of an occurrence in DxD.

> Red explains it to us. Then Pink points to a certain direction.

> "Ha! A mysterious flying object found!"

> "What!? Everyone! Attack all at once! [Ruin the Extinct]!"

> "[Kankara formula]! Karama-equation!"

> "Ey. [Celsius cross Trigger]!"

> "...Torya. Attack something like that of Asmodeus….."

> "Ummm. Then I will call it Yellow-shot then."

> BAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG!! ...….A scale of explosion that I have never seen before happened up in the sky. Five people who are Maou-class attacked towards the sky at the same time. The shockwave created by it not only shakes us, but the whole mountain area around here and the air violently. The animals in the forest below us are screaming and fleeing... The sky split and it created a creepy dimensional gap that I have never seen before which was spreading. And a bright coloured particle of light surrounded this mountain. Also a phenomenon that looks like aurora was created... These rare phenomena occur continuously in front of us…..

> "It's just an evil spirit. Don't scare us like that, Pink."--Volume 8, Extra Life.

Yeah, they just cracked the fabric of the Underworld's space in that attack. Of course, it recovered soon, but still, don't mess with the Satan rangers or whatever.

Back to point, just how durable are these "Dimensions"? Fortunately, Ishibumi already gave us the answer, so we don't need to break our heads feat analysing:

> This volume was a Longinus's Balance-Breaker parade. And that's 5 of them!

> Not only does the True-Longinus's Balance-Breaker have many abilities, but the wielder is a strong guy who would be considered a "cheat" level.

> The Dimension-Lost Balance-Breaker is a very powerful and absolute barrier that can even stop Ophis temporarily!-- Volume 11, Afterword.

This is the afterword of the Volume by Ishibumi himself, so yeah, there you have it. These "barriers" can hold even fucking Ophis for a period of time. That's impressive. They are durable as all fuck.

Other than that, we have a final observation to make about Dimension Lost:

> First Gen chanted the spell, then tapped his staff on the ground once, and the mist dispersed! He broke through that kind of mist just like that!

> "Your Sacred Gear training is very weak. You should enter in a dialogue with it like that red Dragon over there."

> Ah, I am being praised. So happy! The mist user was very surprised. Of course, since he held the power of a top-tier Longinus, yet it was completely ineffective!-- Volume 9, Life 4.

This here implies that Dimension Lost in fact has a consciousness inside of it, much like Draig, Albion, Nemea's Lion, etc...

With this, we reach the end of this rant. I personally believe that Dimension Lost is one of the best utility sacred gears, it's sheer versatility and conveniences are just something else. Well then, see ya next time.
