Trendy Tower

I go to the same neighborhood again. I like it here. My session got over like an hour ago. My sense of direction took me half an hour to reach this destination. I should have gone home but I had weird cravings for yogurt ice creams. It is freezing cold and my lips are chapped. Yes! I need yogurt to fix it.

I run into the 24/7 convenience store. Amazing is the fact that I don't even know the name of the store. I don't pay much attention to my surroundings which actually puts me in danger. I have never learned my lesson. I stand out of my car and lean on the door. My Hijab (modest clothing) is flying in all directions. It's breezy and frenzy in the streets. I look up to the evening sky. The clouds are highly visible and float everywhere.

I look at a tower. I have been there a few times. The stairways are quite perplexing. It's a trendy tower. Standing in a high vertical extent reaching for the orange-tinted sky. Nothing is so fascinating but the fact that somebody is ascending the stairways. A silky white garment is all I can see from the place I'm standing. Lights are flashing and clocks ticking on the tower high above. By the garment, I can conclude it's a girl.

Nahla? It cant be her. It just can't be. Since she is wearing white she is shining by the passing moment in the night sky. But taking a better look at the tower I could figure someone is after her. Some man in a rubber suit. Like a butcher? He or whoever it is dressed in complete black. The material looks like rubber and seems like he is holding a saw. The saw and her dress are glowing on the high stairs of the tower.

I look around. Nobody seems to notice that someone up there is in danger. I can't scream but I gotta help her. My revolver is of no help now. I scan the tower for any other way of getting all the way up. She is a few levels below. When she gets to the high part of the tower. She would likely find moving wheels and hot wires. She might get hurt by flames or by falling.

I find a ladder on the tower. It's more like rusted handles which leads to the top. A typical fire exist? I search in my car. I hope I could find anything that would help. I find a set of hijabs. I wrap them tightly on my hands. I sprint to the tower and start climbing. The higher the altitude, The colder it gets. I look at her for motivation. Sometimes when you see someone suffer, it motivates you to reach out for them. I can hear her muffled screams. Goosebumps arise everywhere in my skin.

I reach to her level and grab her arm. She turns to me with a frightened look in her eyes. My heart flutters to see her this afraid. " Hey ?" I say feebly.

"Watch out" she screams. But it all goes quiet for a second. That man has hit me with the back of his saw. My head hurts and I let go of her. She grabs my hand this time and yanks me forward. She is headed in the wrong direction.

I jump and tackle her to the ground. She rubs the back of my head a few times. I feel a bit better. We stand upright. The clock is ticking. The wheels start moving and we lose our balance. We are thrown out of the building in no time. I grab the handles and dangle mid-air. I'm holding her shaking hand. "Ecstatic to meet you" I say holding it tighter. " Hey, Zyna ! I'm Nahla. Pleasure meeting you!" She says with such warmth.

"Let go of my hand and hold the handle" I yell at her. She does what I instructed her to do. My heart stops for a brief moment when she let's go of me. She holds the handle and my breath returns. She laughs which expresses so many emotions. She seems to enjoy such instances. She looks like she takes scars as keepsakes. She sounds fun.

The man trips on the wheel too. But he is thrown somewhere inside the tower. It doesn't matter until we get away from here. Both of us hastily get down I take hold of her hand and hurry to my car. For the first time in life. I get a feel of having a younger sister. I would have cared for her and loved her beyond compare. I shove her in shotgun and take my seat and power start the engine. I rev my car out of the neighborhood. I turn to look at her. The smile faded away and she looks at me with grace.

I stretch myself to reach her and pull her seatbelt and fasten it.

" You have a destination in your mind, Miss?" I ask her softly.

"Difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations" she says looking down at her hands. Her hands are clasped together. I can see her nails digging inside her skin. I take a hold of it.

"Don't be scared. I mean no harm" I tell her assuredly.

She sobs and leans on me. I could feel her tears on my Hijab. I love it when someone leans on me. I have the urge to protect her as if it is the most important task.

I drive home. None of us make any noise. I reach home and pull into the driveway. She seems to be too quiet. "Nahla?" I whisper. She seems to have fallen asleep. I don't feel like waking her up. I just watch her sleep. She looks so calm and composed. I like the look of her face when she has no creases on her forehead. When she doesn't furrow her brows. I hope to see her calm and composed when her eyes are wide open. I want her smile to be wider. I hope I can give it to her. I make it a personal wish to see her smile wider.
