"Spies!?"
A unexpected punch to the face from a soldier caused Liam to fall face first to the floor.
"Who gave you permission to speak, you disgusting piece of shit!"
"As I was saying my Lord, yes they are?", Ezekiel stated.
The king rose his hand up, indicating that he had heard enough from him. Turning his attention to Adira, as Liam was still laying on the floor, the king spoke to her.
"You! What is your name?"
"My name is Adira Evans, my Lord."
"Hmm, Adira Evans, what a strange name. Tell me why you came to our kingdom, Adira."
"Me and my friend over here had woken up in the grassland close by, unaware of the events leading to that. As this was the only kingdom we saw within range, we decided to come here and ask for help."
"What were your words exactly, Adira?", The king asked full of curiosity.
"We told the soldiers that we were lost and were looking for directions to go back home. We also told them that we would appreciate it if we could stay somewhere for the night. These were what we said my Lord", Adira bowed her head in respect.
King Ezra stroked his breads lightly before asking a question she was happy to answer.
"Where are you from, Adira?"
"I am from Kansas, my Lord", her answer caused Liam to widened his eyes in surprise.
"Kansas you say, I am not aware of any place named Kansas. Are you a foreigner from a different side of the world perhaps?"
Adira had forgotten about the fact that they were in a totally new world. Of course they would have no idea where Kansas was. Lucky for her however, the king had just given her a way out.
"Yes my Lord, Me and my friend are foreigners."
The king seemed to be thinking about something as he began to look at both Ezekiel and Adira.
"This was not what I have been told though", the king stated. "Where are the soldiers that spoke with these two?"
The soldiers that were at the gate that day came forward. Liam instantly rose his head looking at them in anticipation of what they would say.
"My Lord", the soldiers stood at attention.
"Tell the room what you told me when you reported to me."
"Well, they snuck into the kingdom most likely with outside help. They had come in when it was still getting dark to do who knows what, luckily we were able to find them before any damage was done. They attacked us with daggers trying to kill us, however we were stronger than they expected", one of the soldiers said opening a piece of cloth in his hand.
Within this cloth were daggers which the soldiers claimed they had used to attack them. A audible gasp could be heard from the people present in the room before leading to sounds of various people talking. The king eventually rose his hand up causing the place to be silent once again.
'What the heck is this? None of this is true. What exactly do they have against us? We just wanted help for goodness sake', Questions ran through Liam's mind.
"Now I ask you this, Adira. What happened that day?", The king gazed at her waiting for a response.
"It is as I told you, my Lord. We did no such thing!"
A look of confusion clouded the face of the king as he looked Adira eye to eye. In his mind, he believed that this was not the look of a person who was lying. Knowing that the issue at hand was more than mere words now, king Ezra signalled for the solution.
The doors to the throne room opened and three ladies could be seen coming into the room. These peculiar ladies had red veils that covered there faces. Their gowns also had this same red color and they seemed to float on the air, however the thing that stood out the most was the glowing orb that they held in their hands.
"These are natives of our kingdom, Leonar. They are called the Blood sisters and are well known for their mystical orb. This orb can perform extraordinary magic spells and even has a special ability to tell if one is lying. If the orb turns white you are telling the truth, if it tries black you are lying. Put your hand on the orb and we will put this matter to rest", the king explained.
Adira's hand was forcefully held and put on the crystal orb. On mere contact with her skin, the orb began to change colors.
"Is it true that you sneaked into our kingdom, Leonar?", One of the sisters asked.
"No it is not. We simply asked for help."
Liam felt relieved that the whole issue was about to come to an end, however that all changed when he saw a sinister smile erupt from Ezekiel's face. Looking back at the crystal, Liam discovered that it had turned black.
'We were set up!', the thought flashed through his mind.
"Hmm, so you lied to my face, Adira. As punishment for your lies, your head will be beheaded this very moment", the king Ezra declared.
A soldier came forward, removing his blade from it's scabbard ready to carry out the King's will. Adira felt like she couldn't breathe or move her body at that moment. The thought that it was all over froze her body in place. Liam however, rose up from the ground at incredible speed, tackling the soldier hard while shouting a battle cry.
"Liam! No!", Adira expressed her disapproval of his actions.
It was already to late for this though as he had already successfully taken out two soldiers in an instant. Though Liam deep down knew he would fall to their numbers eventually. This came sooner than expected as Ezekiel knocked him down from behind. The soldiers rushed him together, giving him a beating of his life time.
"She was telling....the truth....we were set up....!", Liam endured the beating he was receiving.
A burst of laughter erupted from the king causing the soldiers to stop in their tracks.
"What is your name, boy?", The king asked with an intrigued smile.
"My name is Liam Stone."
"Liam, i have not seen such feistiness in combat for awhile now. Seeing your display i have come to a conclusion. These two will be sent to the 'Colosseum' to fight for their lives. There their fates will be decided."
