Ava - Jaxon at Home

Now I know what you're thinking, hot guy is in my house but, and there's always one, it's only for two days. He leaves the day after tomorrow. Anyway back to what's happening right now, Mr.Bruce Visser and his sweet daughter, Olivia.

"We must be off then,"says Mr. Bruce Visser getting up from his place on our couch and standing to shake Dad's hand.

"It's a pleasure to have finally met you and your beautiful family."

"Pleasure is ours as well, Olivia is more than welcome to pay us a visit if she ever chooses to,"my Dad says this with his arm wrapped across mom's shoulders.

"Thank you for everything Mr. and Mrs. Hartwell, so grateful for all your help and kindness, I will definitely pay a visit in good time," says Olivia.

The Vissers take their leave and I watch as both father and daughter climb into a Blue Volkswagen car, and pull out of the driveway and onto the road.

My family and I wave goodbye before they leave and our little party moves back into the kitchen to clean up and store the leftovers away into the refrigerator.

"So what do you want to do?" I ask Jaxon.

"How about a movie you up for it? In your living room?" He asks turning his brown-eyed gaze to meet my green eyes.

"Sure, what do you want to watch?"

"You pick," he replies simply.

"I'd end up picking a chick flick."

"Okay, let's do it?"

"Miss Congeniality, Sandra Bullock. You seen it?"

"Nope." He replies not watched that one.

"I'll get the pop corn ready and the drinks, you wait in the living room."

"You sure you don't need help?" He asks.

"Yeah I'm sure".

"Okay".

I head for the kitchen and fill a large bowl with pop corn and fill two long plastic cups with ice lemon tea. I enter the living room with the goodies to eat and find Jaxon has settled himself comfortably in the corner of our couch. I hand him the pop corn and his drink, which he takes a sip of. I find the DVD and put it into the player and hit start on the movie. It plays and our eyes are glued to the screen as we watch. Both of us just watch the movie in complete silence.

Cleo the cat enters the room to watch too but mostly to loaf near the window where the sunlight is streaming in. She is getting fat, I notice as the days go by and I know I'm going to have to take her to the vet soon for a check up.

Jaxon glances at me from time to time, and I return his glances with a smile and continue to watch. We eventually come to the end of the movie, and I switch of the television and DVD player. Meanwhile Jaxon takes the bowl of pop corn and the cups to the kitchen where he washes everything and places it on the dish rack.

"That was a nice movie," he comments lightly.

"It was funny right?" I ask.

"Yeah, except I thought it sad they didn't end up together."

"Agree." I reply.

"Ava...I need to ask you something."

"I'm listening." I reply a little nervous because he sounds serious all of a sudden.

"Could we date each other?" "Please". "I know it's much to ask considering you've just come out of a relationship but I'd really like to just try with you."

"That's so sweet, I don't know.....you know what I'll give you a chance." I finally say making up my mind.

"Thanks", he gently spins me around so my back is facing him and he hugs me from behind.

He feels so warm and the pressure feels so good like I'm safe and secure in his embrace. He lets go after a minute and immediately I feel his absence around me and it feels cold. I resist hugging myself, where he just hugged me.

"So, what should we do next?"

"There's a park not too far from here, you want to go for a walk? It's almost 5 o'clock.

"Let's go," he says enthusiastically.

I put on my sport shoes and we do a light jog from my house all the way to the park. It's beautiful this time of day because it's not too hot neither is it too cold to be out. The Sun is slowly going down, but there's still plenty light and the sky is so very blue.

The park has a water fountain in the center and we take a brief rest stop to catch our breath.

"This place is so relaxing, if I lived close by I'd probably be here every morning and evening."

"Yeah, it's a great place to exercise and de-stress," I say looking around and seeing children on the swings and climbing inside the playground. There's an elderly couple seated on a bench watching them. I see people out walking their dogs and some have come to the park with skateboards. A group of young boys are playing basketball in the courtyard just close by and there are two soccer teams after a ball in the field. The atmosphere is charged with so much activity going on, we jog around the park for another hour and then walk back home.

We reach home just in time to help set up dinner, Mary-Anne is cooking this time and as usual she's giggling like a lunatic with Jedidiah. I help her out the plates, utensils and cups on the table while Jaxon helps to spread the dishes on the table. Tonight we're having lamb chop with fries and coleslaw. I fill my glass with water while everyone else chooses apple juice.

"Ava you are missing your dose of sugary goodness", teases Jedidiah from his side of the table.

"No she isn't she got Jaxon beside her to make up for it," chips in Mary-Anne giggling.

"You are so right love, how could I have not noticed before," comments Jedidiah.

I notice Jaxon has a slight blush crawling up his cheeks as he tries to look everywhere else except for me.

As for me I'm praying to dear God that Jedidiah does not say anything more which makes this awkward, because that's how I feel right now.

Mom and Dad step in and chatter revolves around them as they start talking about way back when they started dating and how times have changed and what it was like when they were young. I tune all of this out only because I've heard this for the millionth time, while Jaxon drops in a comment everyone now and then out of polite curiosity. I start thinking about what I just told Jaxon, that I would give him a chance and then my thoughts go back to my ex and then Mary-Anne startles me by asking me in front of everyone.

"So are you guys officially?"

"Is that how they say together these days?" adds in Dad.

"Yeah", answers Mary-Anne to Dad's question "that's how we ask it."

Both turn to look at me and before I can say anything Jaxon chips in.

"We're just giving it a chance for now."

"Oh, don't get too serious then," says Dad trying to joke about it.

"Very funny Dad," I say.

"I'm just trying to pull your leg, my firecracker," says Dad with a playful note in his voice.

"Hmmm...." is all I say.

After we finish eat and dinner plates and dishes are all put away, we gather in the family gaming room. Where the guys, including Dad start pulling out the Carton board and the game pieces to play.

I'm too tired to stay up any later and I want to finish a little more of that romance book I started reading so I go up toy room. I take a shower and change into my pajamas, and settle myself into bed with the lamp light on and my book. I snuggle up under the thick blanket and start reading. Before I can even finish reading the first sentence mom barges into my room.

"Mom do you ever knock anymore?"

"Nope"is all she says.

"So how are things with Jaxon?"

"Things have barely begun Mom, he just asked me out today, he said wanted us to give it a try and that's what we're doing if you must know."

"Oh that's nice to hear honey, I just wanted to make sure you're alright."

"I am Momsy."

"Ok, have a good night honey don't stay up till too late."

"Ok, good night mom". I say hugging her before she goes. Yes, I know I'm twenty-four but I still love my Momsy.

"Good night sweetheart", she says kissing me on the forehead and then leaving my room. I open book and resume reading, eventhough I plan to sleep at 10 o'clock, I have a hard time putting the book down it's that good. So when I do finish the book it's 12 thirty in the night, I begin to feel drowsy but satisfied now that I've finished reading the story. I set my book aside, switch of the lamp and turn to check if Mary - Anne has come, and nope just like I predicted she's probably still out with Jedidiah. I'm too tired to think what she might be up to at this part of the night, I just fall asleep.
