Chapter 50: Entrance?

"How does it work again?"

Rueben clenched his hand and unclenched it.

Shing.

"Well, like i said, the thing below actually might be detecting the movements of your muscles. I don't know how, though, too complicated even for me." Gwynne answered while shrugging her shoulder.

Rueben grunted in response and started using the gauntlet while fighting with beasts, Gwynne was on the carriage, safely protected by him. She turned to look at his clothes and knew that they were going to get dirty again. She was getting tired of washing his bloodied clothes, especially when there was no source of water or any liquid to wash it nearby.

"It's able to detect the muscle, huh? That's one way to hurt yourself." He uttered softly while using the knife in the gauntlet to brutally dig into the hide of a beast.

He turned around to grab the fur of a beast near its neck and pulled it towards him, rather, towards the knife that the gauntlet had already bore.

It stabbed through its skull, Rueben pulled his arm away and found that it was stuck. His eyes narrowed before he took out the dagger from his waist and stabbed the neck of the beast 3 times.

The beast died with a pitiful groan.

With his arm stuck in the skull of the beast, another beast saw this as a chance to pounce on him only for Rueben to pull away his arm from the head and bent down to dodge the pounce.

He then rushed in and tackled the beast, making it fall face flat on the floor. Rueben swiftly stabbed its neck, near its nape, and killed it.

Rueben took off the dagger and wiped the blood with his pants sheated it. He unclenched his fist and watched as the knife went back to its resting place.

He stared for a moment before turning to Gwynne and said, "This weapon is not for frontal combat. Like just now, the blade might get stuck, and that would be fatal for inexperienced Hunters."

Gwynne nodded her head in agreement. She also told him her thoughts, "And unsheating it without cleaning off the stain would be a major issue in the future, so after each use you must clean it."

Rueben tore open the chest of a beast and took out a heart. He then squeezed the heart and blood filled out from its orifices. He drank the blood and healed some injuries.

Soon, he wiped the blood on his face with his sleeve and turned to Gwynne, who had already packed some books away and turned to him.

"Another pair of knives for you to use, you chipped those two already."

He stared at the knives for a moment, his eyes glistened before turning to her and commented, "You sound like a nagging woman."

"What did you say, you motherfucker?" She let out a growl and took a stance, ready to pounce on him and wrestle.

Rueben softly shook his head and shrugged.

Feeling played, she gritted her teeth and pouted. "Damn bastard, even a single thank you would've made me felt better. Fucktard."

Just as she cursed, behind her she heard him saying, "Thank you." Softly.

It was so soft that she felt that she misheard. She turned to look at him as he disassembled the gauntlet and took out a clean cloth to start wiping the blood off it.

She stared at his back for a moment before muttering, "Probably the wind."

The flag of the Crimson Moon was placed up in a pole, the cold wind blew on it as the clouds started crying.

A paladin looked at the scene infront of him and turned to his sword, stained with the blood of those who he killed. He the turned around and saw countless men and women in black robes lying down as their other body parts strewn across the entire place.

The palading gulped and knelt down, he stabbed the sword on the ground and gripped his hands, clenching his wrist and gritting his teeth.

Was this justice? Was all these truly for justice as the Holy Pontiff had said?

He still remembered dismembering the hands of a woman begging for her child to atleast be left alone. And yet, one of his comrades took the child from her and killed him infront of her very eyes, before she was beheaded.

Those movements, expressions of utter helplessness and despair had shook his resolve.

The resolve that he had for years of serving the Church, now shook as he watched tragedies happen right infront of his very eyes. The justice that they preach, was this it?

The rain slowly mixed with the blood flowing from the corpses as the paladin knelt down stiffly. Just as he was about to stand, a nun came behind him and patted him on the shoulders.

She smiled at him kindly as she clasped her palms together and looked at the scene infront of her. Letting out a soft sigh, she opened her mouth and spoke.

"Are you feeling pity for these heretics?"

She asked as the paladin stiffened from her question.

"Don't be, they are demonists who worship evil. Their deaths would only make the world more cleaner."

She then turned around and left the place, leaving the paladin behind as he stared at her back.

His eyes shaken, his lips pale. He stood up after a few moments and followed after her.

"Yes. They are filth that i must clean. Yes, this is a means to make the world a better place..."

He mumbled these words repeatedly, as if chanting them as he followed after the nun. Gradually, he pushed his doubts and horrors down to the deepest parts of his consciousness.

Many paladins had also experienced the doubts and concerns of the paladin, yet they pushed those down and believed. Believed that with their efforts, they could make the world a far better place.

A woman saw all this happening and she let out a smile. She clasped her 4 hands together and knelt down.

"Oh, Crimson Moon. The Crusade has begun, we shall cleanse this world and give its people salvation."

A woman walked out of the woods with a sword stabbed through her shoulder. She spat out the blood in her mouth and gripped the sword out of her shoulders.

She then took out an Ichor Siphon and stabbed it through her right thigh.

Feeling the effects of God's Blood flowing through her body, she walked towards the fortress of a city with just a scimitar in her right hand.

Thousands of crows followed after her, forming a tornado of black feathers in the skies above.

An old man was playing chess by himself when he looked up. He stayed still for a moment before sighing and stood up, "He's gone. Is this the chance that he had said?"

The old man stood up from his chair and walked inside his mansion, countless men stiffened and saluted in respect as the old man dismissed them off.

He arrived inside a room filled with all kinds of weapon and armor. In the center of the room was a white robe with red hues all over it. The old man wore the robe and let out a chilling gaze.

"Its time to start the massacre."

A storm was brewing inside Arkvem.

Rueben rolled forward to dodge an attack before stabbing the knees of a beast and sliced off its neck with a single swing. He turned around and threw a rock towards another beast and had it pouncing towards him.

Gwynne then jumped and grabbed is head before twisting it. Rueben followed with a stab into its head and she grabbed the hilt of the dagger, stabbing it inside.

The two slowly calmed themselves down as corpses of beasts scattered around them. Gwynne looked through the flesh and stabbed the Ichor Siphon to its body, sucking in blood.

Rueben stared at her, then softly clenched his fist. He then looked to his left, towards a small hole that was as dark as the abyss.

He gazes at the abyss as the darkness moved around him, the only source of light being the torch.

"Im coming."
