CHAPTER - XXVIII

Once through the portal he saw Dante hugging his mother and people attending to inhumans, turning to his left he saw Theo with his arms outstretched controlling the portal looking at him and then smiling and saying 'Thank you', Derek nodded.

A few minutes later he arrived at the medical room of the anthill and laid Kamala down on one of the few unoccupied beds to sit next to her, as if synchronized Cassie came in agitated the moment she saw Derek and Kamala ran to Derek and hugged him.

"Hey, Cassie be careful I'm still recovering from my injuries" expressed Derek, hearing what he said she stopped hugging him and looked at him carefully seeing blood scabs on his body and bruises not to mention the suit he had created earlier was totally destroyed

Cassie : "I'm sorry, I was so happy to see you and Kamala come back I jumped without thinking" apologized Cassie.

"Don't worry, I understand you besides I promised a beautiful blonde that I would get back with Kamala no matter what" smiled Derek seeing Cassie a little blushing without looking away from him

Cassie : "Thanks for the compliment, but I can see you're worried right?".

Derek : "Sort of, I'm worried about Kamala I don't know what they did to her the time she was on AIM or how they affected her being used to capture me."

"Mmm, I don't think you have to worry about that Kamala is not only physically strong, she is mentally strong too, you know I think when she wakes up she will be stronger than ever" she said it sitting next to Derek and putting her head on Derek's shoulder.

Cassie : "Thanks for coming back Derek"

"Mmm" nodded Derek, they stayed like that while Cassie told him that the moment they came back the anthill was attacked by a small group of very well armed AIM that was destroyed with a little effort

When she finished narrating what happened a nurse arrived to check Kamala and do some tests to know how she was doing, an hour later the same nurse arrived with some IV's and connected them to Kamala's arm, wanting to know what Kamala had Cassie decided to ask.

Cassie : "How is she and what is that for, nurse?"

"Actually she is not in any danger, it's just that she unconsciously used her powers to heal wounds or damage she had previously and used her power in excess, which consumed energy and calories, leading her to a state of fatigue and lack of calories, that's what the IV's are for, if we are not wrong by tomorrow she will wake up in perfect condition" satisfied with the answer given Cassie didn't ask more and let the nurse do her job.

When the nurse finished with Kamala she approached Derek and without telling him anything she started to check him for injuries and used a scanner which showed his whole skeleton, he was surprised by the nurse's action, he decided not to say anything when he saw how she used a scanner on him, Cassie for her part just watched the actions of the nurse who at the end looked at Derek strangely.

"Amazing your body is already healing even though your skeleton shows multiple cracks they are already repairing, in a couple of hours you will be as good as new, I recommend you rest kid even though your wounds are healing your brain needs rest for all the fatigue it received, if you have any problem or feel bad let me know" warned and recommended the nurse to retire.

"Haaa" he sighed as he watched the nurse walk away, he relaxed when the nurse didn't ask for blood samples as it would be uncomfortable if they found out he has the x and inhuman gene in him.

Cassie has always been good at noticing people's expressions or knowing when they are tense "Don't you like doctors Derek" she asked him as she noticed Derek's condition.

Derek : "I wouldn't say I don't like them it's just that with this whole AIM thing I don't feel safe when someone wants to take my blood or run tests on me more so when AIM has stated they want to capture me to experiment on me"

Cassie : "When you put it that way I understand why you don't feel comfortable with that, but you don't have to worry the people here are trustworthy."

Derek nodded for what Cassie said, they talked about what happened while infiltrating AIM and Cassie told him how they destroyed some synthezoids, besides learning that Dante's powers evolved in the fight by destroying a bunch of robots to eventually pass out, looking at his face and noticing his tiredness she said still on his shoulder "Derek I think you should go rest, I'll take care of Kamala, if she wakes up I'll let you know."

"I'll take your word for it this is all wearing me out" Derek whispered in Cassie's ear causing her to smile at the action he took, she watched him leave the medical room before she could say anything.

Getting back to normal Cassie looked at Kamala not knowing what to make of what she was feeling for Derek, Kamala is in love with Derek and she was starting to have those kinds of feelings for him she wouldn't deny it she just hoped this wouldn't hurt their friendship.

WITH DEREK

He smiled at the notification that appeared knowing that he got carried away at that moment with Cassie, deciding to ignore what happened to head to his training room at the anthill, upon arriving at the training room Lucy got off his shoulder and went to the table to stand there while he watches, the first thing Derek did is pull out the metal block he uses when doing the daily missions and put his hands on it to start compressing the metal and increase its weight to 20 tons.

"With this I can now push myself harder" he said to start hooking the metal chains to his body and start jogging for half an hour, then followed with pushups, situps and squats, an hour later Derek was lying on the cold floor breathing heavily trying to regain energy and from the discomfort of his already healed bones to raise his hand and accept the daily mission rewards a status recovery and +10 status points.

He was a little surprised to see that he only got two rewards along with the increase in his status points, Derek had hoped that with what he did he would receive a special reward like when he received the infinite regeneration potion and raid.

In the end he decided not to think about it anymore to take out of his inventory the digimon egg which at the moment it was in his hands vibrated and through his connection he could feel the emotions of the egg, which were happiness that he took it out of the inventory and concern for everything that had happened in AIM the digimon knew everything that happened through the link they have.

Trying to let the digimon know that all is well he started to send mana with one hand and with the other his blood which worked when he noticed that the egg stopped vibrating.

Derek closed his eyes to start meditating while the egg absorbed his blood and mana, an hour later he opened his eyes when the digimon stopped absorbing blood and mana.

Derek sat down on the floor and if one looked at it closely one would notice that it was a little pale from the blood loss, patting the egg he bought a potion to replenish the lost blood and drank it then looked at the egg digimon to smile and put it away in the inventory.

Taking a big breath He asked the system "System what are the rewards I earn?"

[ Calculating, due to rescuing Kamala Khan, the captured Inhumans with Dante's mother and Theo's sister, plus recovering all the information of the experiments that AIM has done with the Inhumans and getting the Adaptoids created by them the rewards are as follows, 30 points are automatically assigned in all stats, +50 status points and a Grimoire of White Magic (Genesis).]

Without warning Derek's body warmed up and his brain cooled down from the increase in his stats, the difference was that this time he felt no pain only a little discomfort as he felt his body enlarge and compress again as his muscle tissue compressed and his organs strengthened as for his brain he only felt his mind was clearer as if the mist was dispersed, all that took forty minutes until his body returned to how it was before.

Once he recovered he asked the system what had happened "System, why was it different from other times when my statistics increased".

System: [ I have been in charge of adjusting and adapting your body for the constant increases and adapting your inhuman gene and x gene for your abilities and powers once you exceed 100 in each statistic you won't suffer so much pain, I would recommend you to use the Grimoire after you have rested enough if you want to save the status recoveries and potions. ]

Derek : "Haa, thanks I don't know what I would do without you buddy."

System: [ You're welcome host I'm here to serve you. ]

After all this Derek felt more mentally tired, he just got up and left the training room, seeing him get up Lucy quickly jumped on Derek's shoulder and they headed to his room

Entering the room Derek grabbed Lucy by her shoulder to put her on the bed and head to the bathroom while waving his hands in the air, at the same time his suit disappeared leaving him naked.

A few minutes later he came out with a towel wrapped around his waist with wet hair heading to the bed but all the moisture in his body began to evaporate thanks to his better control of his powers, when he got to the bed he took off the towel and threw himself on it and in seconds he fell asleep, Lucy just came closer in her spider body to snuggle next to Derek.

While Derek was asleep everyone was busy most of them helping the rescued Inhumans to the available rooms, the medical room was full of wounded Inhumans, in another part you could see Monica in a small room still locked up with her adamantium chains, outside the Ant Hill you could see the CHIMERA which landed, the doors of the ship opened and out came Tony with the armor he had created with Derek finding himself outside the Ant Hill with Bruce, Hank and Natasha.

"You took your time Tony" Bruce said as he adjusted his glasses.

Tony: "What can I say, had to take on a bunch of well armed synthezoids on the way, if it wasn't for the magical adjustments the kid made to the ship and the new thrusters on it it would take me longer or the ship would never get there."

"Alright enough of your sarcasm Stark, tell us if the ship is ready to carry all the people from the anthill?" asked Nat already irritated by the silly sarcasm in Tony's speech.

Hank despite not saying anything nodded at what Natasha said and was in no mood to play along with Tony, his daughter had taken a risk when she went AIM with Derek although she came back unharmed except for a fainted Dante that doesn't stop him from being a little angry and worried, not only that now he was furious AIM that won't be long in coming to get Monica back, he already expects Tarleton to come with everything he has and that includes his adaptoids.

"What? Not even a hello after five years..." seeing Nat's face he quickly changed the subject

"Well the ship is ninety percent repaired and we have plenty of room if we use the carrier area which is empty except for the Quinjet I'd say we can carry about three hundred people at least."

"Perfect that's more than enough, we have one hundred and ninety inhumans now and if you count the scientists and us that's two hundred and thirty total more than enough to go in the chimera" Hank said in relief.

"We should start taking people this very moment to the CHIMERA to get the night out of here before Tarleton and his adaptoids are here" suggested Bruce to which both Hank and Tony agreed.

For her part Natasha headed to the Chimera wanting to head to her room but before she could continue she was stopped by Tony "Look I know this is your way of being talk little and say what's important."

"Say it fast Tony I don't have all the time" sighing at this Tony continued

Tony: "Well we all know Derek is your protégé and we accept that, but you should sit down and talk to him about why you left him"

Natasha : "That's my problem and if I left him it was for his own good Tony we are wanted by the police by the government and by AIM" already irritated for the first time she left her facet she turned around and yelled at Tony who raised his arms in understanding.

Seeing that this could end badly Bruce came closer "Nat we know that when he told us how you met he always smiled even how you beat him up for trying to steal from you" she smiled when she heard that part

Bruce : "But he also told us that when you left him he went into depression, he hates to be alone, he was so bad that he almost died because of a group of racists"

They looked at Nat who opened her eyes in surprise at what he said, she knew that it is impossible for a group of normal humans to leave Derek (Ancient) on the verge of death, the training she gave him was more than enough, so that when he is caught off guard he can defend himself

The only explanation he has is that he tried to commit suicide, at that moment she remembered the lifeless and dull look Derek gave her the two times she met him, the first time when she saved him from some chitauri that were about to kill him after they killed his parents and when she tried to steal his wallet.

Turning around she headed back to her room "Nata..." tried to continue Bruce but Nat interrupted him "I... I missed him too, I left him because AIM was tracking me I didn't want to involve him in all that that's why I disappeared, I'll talk to him later don't worry about that I'll take care of it" she said finally getting lost from sight as she entered the CHIMERA.

"Haaa" Tony, Hank and Bruce for their part sighed and smiled as they remembered Nat's worried face and the last thing she said.

"Well it looks like the kid owes me one, hopefully this will win him points to let me be his legal guardian" Tony said as he made his way to the Ant Hill.
