CHAPTER - XXVI
Seeing the adaptoids in the containers, ready to launch an optical beam, before the adaptoids could do anything Derek, he pulled a kunai from his inventory and imbued it with maximum fire, launching it towards the container.
BOOM
The container the adaptoids were in exploded and fell into the void, Derek knew that didn't do anything to the adaptoids, he looked at Natasha, she nodded in response to what they had discussed earlier, he handed Nat a kunai as a backup, running to where the adaptoids had fallen and jumped.
Nat looked to Monica, only to not find both her and Kamala, looking for them she saw Monica running with a chained Kamala with a power inhibitor collar around her neck being dragged by Monica to a desolate area, knowing this was a possible trap for her Natasha followed them regardless.
In fall Derek saw from afar the adaptoids standing as if nothing, he would believe that if he didn't see the soot in some parts, accelerating his fall he set his feet on fire propelling himself and taking the cryo adaptoid by surprise spinning in the air a few centimeters away from the robot putting his feet in front of it crushing the face of the adaptoid with all the synergy of the fall and his attack slamming the adaptoid against the ground leaving a trail of fire.
[ FANG OF THE FIRE DRAGON ]
BAMM!
Without wasting time the fire adaptoid launched itself against Derek, he transformed his arm into a metal cane and jumped to a height of one meter dodging the adaptoid and extended his arm transformed into a cane hitting the robot's head against the metal floor while extending the length of the arm dragging its head a few meters and then covering the arm with flames and absorbing them detaching the cane from his arm and exploding sending the adaptoid to fly by the explosion.
By the time he landed the cryo adaptoid had already risen but with a dent in the shape of a foot which was already being repaired, Derek stared at the adaptoid, the adaptoid for its part began to release more steam which began to slowly freeze the area, one of its arms began to form ice and take the shape of a sword as when Derek transforms his arm into such a weapon.
Without wasting time the adaptoid lunged at Derek and swung his arm, Derek did the same transforming his arm into a saw-toothed sword spinning at high speed and swung it, the ice and metal sword made contact before a loud sound sounded from their collision, although he defended himself from the attack, Derek began to be pushed by the superior strength of his enemy, with no other choice he activated Superhuman Strength and Pink Muscles increasing his strength exponentially.
Managing to barely counteract the strength of the adaptoid, he knew that in strength he was losing against these robots, despite being so angry with everything Monica has done, his mind is calm, the synthezoid seeing that he was pushing Derek hard began to charge his beam
Taking advantage of that Derek imbued his arm in flames at maximum power cutting the ice sword like butter and taking off balance the adaptoid to cut his head but in that his instincts warned him of the danger, with no other option he used Phantom Pace to move aside and dodge the enemy attack and at the same time use [ Flashing Steel: Smash ], while grabbing the arm of the fire adaptoid increasing the damage of the blow.
BAM!
The adaptoid was pushed back by Derek's technique a few meters almost crashing against the wall with a dent in his chest, shooting metallic web of absorbing metal to the feet and arms of the fire synthezoid to do the same with the rest of the body completely hitting it against the wall, with that he gained a limited time to solve the Cryo synthezoid.
Watching as fire adaptoid struggled trying to free himself, he looked back at the Cryo synthezoid as he controlled his metal boots changing them shape so that his bare feet touched the cold ground while what were once boots only protected important parts of the feet, Derek did that so he could use Niko style to the fullest.
"Get ready junk" Derek said digging his toes into metal floor, leaving the toe mark, Raging Fire firing at high speed, the adaptoid watched Derek, to step forward and jump, creating hundreds of ice spikes in the air to launch towards Derek.
Seeing the hundreds of ice spikes flying at high speed, Derek turned his arm back to normal covering his entire body with metallic scales, he clenched his fist and wrapped it in flames with great intensity, concentrating on the absorbing metal scales, throwing his fist in flames forward from which came out a torrent of flames taking the shape of a fist made of fire vaporizing all the ice hitting the adaptoid sending it flying.
"I'm not finished" shouted Derek stomping on the metal floor, so that the floor formed metal spikes where the robot was going to fall, but despite the damage he received from the previous attack Derek created an ice platform as a point of support and kicked him dodging the metal spikes.
Derek smiled to see that his attack was dodged shot a metal spider web which hit the target pulling the adaptoid towards him
Derek tensed his left arm muscles as much as possible using [ Ironbreaker + Iron Fist of the Fire Dragon + Fist of the Metal Dragon ], making Derek's fist and arm look more like a Dragon's, gritting his teeth he hit with all his strength and the adaptoid responded in the same way.
BOOM!
A few seconds later Derek could be seen smashed into the wall with most of his scales broken while his right arm was dripping with blood and the Adaptoid was five meters away from Derek with the right half of his body badly damaged and without an arm.
Leaving the wall Derek ran towards the adaptoid without caring about the pain, to finish it off, transforming his arm into a sword ready to cut off the robot's head his instincts screamed at him to move, but it was too late, by the time he noticed he had already hit the wall and fell to the floor spitting some blood as he felt how two of his ribs had been broken and one cracked.
Getting up with difficulty, he was surprised to see the fire adaptoid, but it wasn't because it had been released, it was because a purple energy was covering him, that energy reminded him of when Tarleton controlled the Warbot making it stronger, he didn't know how he wished he was wrong at this moment, until the Adaptoid looked at him and spoke.
"Hello Derek, I see by the look on your face you know who I am, hehe.... Let me tell you I am amazed at how strong you have become since the last time you faced an adaptoid, that you would leave one in such a state in just a few minutes shows how dangerous you are kid" Tarleton said through the adaptoid approaching the Cryo adaptoid without taking his eyes off Derek who was regulating his breathing.
"Shit what's up with that pedophile laugh, and it doesn't take a genius George to know you're doing the same thing you did with the Warbot" said Derek already standing up holding his ribs with his healthy arm.
Tarleton : "I see you like to joke around when you are cornered like Stark, you know Derek you are very interesting in every fight or battle you get stronger or adapt, your body holds many secrets and I think that is what we need to perfect the adaptoids, so I will ask you nicely, work for AIM and help us create a world with no powers and control for the human, no inhumans, no mutants, no metahumans, gods or aliens, I promise you nothing will happen to the girl and Natasha" said Tarleton trying to convince Derek.
Derek smirked "I refuse, Kamala and Nat are not so weak that I have to make a deal with the enemy, tell me seriously do you think we are a pest, I only see someone with such a deep hatred for beings with powers, inhumans, mutants and metahumans are just the next evolutionary step of the human being idiot, as you are" replied Derek.
The adaptoid burst into flames showing that Tarleton was very upset by what Derek said.
"I thought you would understand if I talked to you, but it's not like that, I gave you a chance to join something bigger than you think, but you turned it down" said Tarleton through the adaptoid still engulfed in flames kneeling down and put his arm over the other adaptoid.
Derek was surprised to see how the Cryo adaptoid in very bad shape was being absorbed by the adaptoid controlled by Tarleton as it turned into nanobots, the adaptoid started to grow to 2.5 meters in its face there was no longer what looked like one eye but two, the right half of the body was still orange between red wrapped in fire while the left is a blue and white.
"Shit" commented Derek already barely standing, (System use status recovery now), without answering him the system did as he commanded and a light enveloped Derek making all the pain in his body disappear.
With Natasha
Nat chased after Monica and Kamala, even though she knew she was being led into a trap, when she got to the area where Monica led her she was filled with fog losing sight of them, Natasha raised her guard concentrating fully.
"You know it was hard to find out that the big Black Widow had snuck into AIM, under my nose these years" Monica said but her voice was coming from all directions making Natasha unable to find her.
Monica : "But in part, me finding you out is the fault of two inhumans, don't you think it's ironic Natasha."
Nat : "Yes, why don't you come out and we talk face to face about how ironic life can be" said Natasha in mockery.
"As you wish" said Monica only to have a large shadow appear behind Nat taking her by surprise.
Nat tried to dodge but Monica's voice coming from all directions and not being able to shoot for fear of accidentally hurting Kamala with Monica's twisted personality anything was possible, she thought about it all until it was too late and she was pinned down by a metal arm.
"Whew, Monica! Nice suit" Nat complained as she was restrained and saw her target in Hulk sized exoskeleton armor exposing the wearer.
"You and those kids have caused me enough trouble, since Derek is being treated by my adaptoids, you should feel happy that I personally took care of you" commented Monica throwing Nat onto a platform.
Rolling as she fell so as not to get hurt, getting up and getting into a battle pose with her modified pistols, while seeing Kamala at her side chained still with the power inhibitor collar, Monica for her part also jumped onto the platform.

Without letting her enemy say anything Nat began to shoot at the joints and cabin of the armor being the most vulnerable parts, the armor arm was raised aiming and accumulating energy being shot at Nat who dodged in zigzag, to jump firing it's hook and lure, putting the guns away to take out the electric batons hitting the cabin and the joints of an arm and leg with force to hit with both batons at the same time cracking the cabin
When Nat landed she put herself in Karate kata with her fist backwards completely wrapped in electricity but thanks to the small improvements that Derek made the electricity accumulates more generating more force when hitting.
BAAAMM!
Monica and her armor were pushed a few steps leaving marks on the floor of the platform, Natasha smiled to see the frustration on Monica's face and then a smile formed and several portals appeared from them several drones came out and began to shoot at her
With no other option she began to dodge or pirouette taking out the guns again, for every time she aimed a drone fell or exploded, but the drones did not stop coming out of the portals and Monica shooting energy beams at her.
Natasha knew she would soon run out of bullets and would have no choice but to approach the drones to destroy them giving her freedom for Monica to attack her, remembering the kunai in her waist the one Derek gave her she came up with a plan, already with a plan Nat started to run around or zigzag shooting at the drones in her path making Monica focus totally on her and shoot at her again
By putting away the pistol in her left hand and holding the kunai with that hand she cut the energy shots thanks to the enhanced and trained reflexes, the more attacks she cut the kunai started to gain more brightness until it started to vibrate showing it was reaching its limit, she threw it where Monica was grazing the armor by a few centimeters.
"You missed" smiled Monica slyly.
"I'm no Hawkeye, but at this distance I would never miss" replied Nat
"Seriously, your actions don't match your words" replied Monica.
"Who said I was aiming at you No Girl!" said Nat, Monica looked to where Kamala should be only to be greeted by a giant fist sending her flying.
"You crazy bitch, I'll charge you for using me as a punching bag for your adaptoids" shouted Kamala back in yellow energy noticing how the wounds on her body were healing, if anyone looked where Kamala was imprisoned they would see a necklace with a clean cut from the kunai Nat had thrown and some destroyed chains.
"Damn it!" roared Monica from the armor running towards Nat and Kamala who started to grow to the height of the armor and run towards it while Nat was shooting at the drones but on the way she noticed that some drones started to shoot at each other then she heard Lucy's voice.
Lucy: "I already took care of the target, you don't have to worry about more enemies appearing."
Natasha smiled at Lucy's words and resumed what she was doing, when Kamala and Monica collided they tried to push each other and seconds later they grabbed each other's hands and struggled.
Kamala even though she was weak and unconsciously using her powers to heal her injuries began to gain ground against the giant armor and began to bend the metal arms
Monica activated the thrusters on the back and arms of the armor matching Kamala's strength but it only lasted a few seconds and they exploded courtesy of Nat and his guns, but before she could take action the place shook causing Kamala and Monica to separate and Nat to lose his balance.
As they stood up getting ready for the next thing a holographic screen appeared in front of them showing an area with fire and ice with Derek and a 2.5 meter Adaptoid crushing it with his foot showing who is stronger.
Tarleton: "Monica I'll take over, it looks like our target is stronger than we thought, I'll make sure to take him in the best condition."
Tarleton said exerting more force causing him to use more force and the metal wall behind him began to sag, until suddenly Derek smiled for them to clearly see how the muscles in his arms flexed and relaxed demonstrating incredible muscle control allowing him to release more force than normal freeing himself and pushing him five steps back to the adaptoid.
Tarleton: "We were right Monica the body of this inhuman has what we need for the adaptoids to be perfect."
That was the last thing Tarleton said before the holographic display disappeared.
"Well I think it's time to leave the games Natasha, I have to go pick up my trophy, but first I'll take care of you guys" Monica said making both Kamala and Nat frown, "Beam the adaptoids here subject 399" but seconds passed and nothing happened.
"Why isn't it responding" she said to herself to then hear Nat
Natasha : "Don't even try, the teleporter is out of service"
Monica was angry to hear that but sending an order for the adaptoids to come even though it would take a few minutes and as if the world was spitting in her face a screen showing there was an error appeared "No, damn it, what have you done" ran Monica against Natasha only to be stopped by a furious Kamala, lifting her a few meters without letting go stretching her arms and smashing her against the floor with all the force she could muster.
With Derek
After pushing the Tarleton controlled adaptoid fusion I look at the pop up notification.
TING
[ Due to a specific action a new ability has been created ]
*MUSCLE CONTROL: Lvl 1.
*Allows you to control your muscles to the point where each muscle fiber seems independent of each other, allowing you to release more force than you should have.
Derek was happy for the ability he gained by using Indestructible to the maximum along with mana, stopping smiling he launched himself against Tarleton at maximum speed activating Muscular Control with Flashing Steel: Smash, Derek's fist was about to connect with the Adaptoid's head but a wall of Ice got in the way fragmenting it, without destroying it despite the combination he used.
"Wonderful, you never cease to amaze me Derek, you will contribute a lot to create the perfect Adaptoid" said Tarleton with crooked joy, Derek was sure that if he saw this guy's face he would see a grim smile.
Derek just raised his guard and took a few steps away from there, concentrating on his Superhuman Senses, noticing the presence of syntezoids and seconds later they fell, there were from primitive, elite, armored, supreme, skilled, spiky Riobot, the Riobot was the first to attack with his sword, without hesitation he dodged the cut and lunged towards the robot, giving him a knee wrapped in fire shattering the head.
Then four Synthezoids of each type launched themselves against Derek who transformed his arms into swords wrapped in fire, splitting a robot with a cut, without stopping cutting the head of the other three with Flashfire creating multiple residual images confusing the robots and finishing them off.
Even with many synthezoids remaining, spears that projected energy, energy shots, laser beams, blows, robots that destroyed themselves, was what came against Derek who dodged and cut or destroyed with great agility, without him realizing it in the techniques of Niko Style appeared a 0% bar that began to increase its percentage slowly gaining more mastery in each technique and kata.
Derek's senses and instincts were coordinating perfectly with his body, dodging attacks in blind spots, all thanks to the Combat Adaptability Skill that was leveling up allowing him to skip years of combat experience.
Letting himself be carried away by pure instant he returned one arm to normal while the other one raised it still transformed into a red-hot saw-toothed sword spinning at great speed, swinging it and at that moment releasing a great energy cut that went through without any resistance to all the robots in the place except for the adaptoid that jumped at the last second dodging that attack.
(Impossible, if that had touched the adaptoid the best thing that would happen is that it would receive a great damage, the worst thing is that it would split it in two) thought Tarleton surprised to see how Derek was using his powers better and better.
Landing the adaptoid stomped on the ground with his left foot and large ice spikes came out of the ground deciding to make the first move, noticing the danger Derek stomped on the ground with force using Metal Dragon Demonic Spikes, a lot of ice and metal spikes collided causing the area to shake, without staying behind he shot out with Raging Fire
Tarleton noticing that Derek was coming for him charged the elemental optic rays to the maximum.
Derek's senses and instincts screamed danger, using thermal vision he noticed the heat and energy accumulated in the Adaptoid's head, he put his arms together and created a shield without stopping and began to inhale preparing a breath.
A large double elemental beam hit Derek's shield, concentrating on reinforcing both the shield and his scales making the energy his to feed the charge of his own attack, due to this attack a large amount of fog was generated.
Tarleton believing that he had finished with Derek
Tarleton thought he was done with Derek, he went to look for what was left of Derek's body but suddenly the adaptoid's systems were activated but it was too late when he noticed a pillar of orange energy like fire surrounded by red hot metal wanting to melt hitting him like shrapnel and sticking into the adaptoid's body creating a number of small explosions plus the damage of the laser sending him flying.
Out of the fog came Derek surrounded by fire at high speed leaving an orange trail like his flames, arriving in front of the adaptoid, concentrating all his mana in the left arm and fire in the right plus muscle control and Ironbreaker, hitting left and right the head of the adaptoid which was repaired despite the damage that each blow caused to the nanobots, despite the amount of blows launched the robot was covered with more purple energy and launched a kick with all his strength, which by centimeters almost connected if Derek does not move away from its range.
Taking advantage of that Derek transformed his arm into a sword swinging it in a slash to the head, but it was useless, the adaptoid stopped it with his hands, which were taking damage as they were melting from Derek's flames, charging an optical beam of Cryo energy firing it at Derek who reacted with his own breath, Feeling the power of the optical beam he charged more mana into his Fire Dragon Roar nullifying the two attacks and creating fog again Derek returning his arm to normal by breaking free of the grip and covering it with metallic scales hid in the fog using stealth.
Hiding in the fog he surrounded the adaptoid while gathering fire, mana and reinforcing the metal of the left hand while using Indestructible to protect the arm from his own attack.
[ FIRE DRAGON DEMOLISHING FIST ]
The adaptoid's head turned at an odd angle at the powerful blow without moving from its place, preparing another blow with Metal Dragon Fist + Muscle Control at maximum, a few millimeters away from connecting the blow in the robot's chest, the adaptoid's hand clamped it.
"Gotcha" Tarleton shouted tightening his grip hearing Derek's bones cracking as he could only grit his teeth in pain, lifting him up at high speed, swinging him from left to right against the ground hard 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 times as ice began to form on the arm being held.
On the 5th time Tarleton slammed Derek to the ground he tried to stomp on his head but using Redirection he avoided that as he transformed his arm into a metal covered sword piercing the robot's abdomen causing it to let go.
Getting up, he noticed that the arm bone was cracked with no other option he used Indestructible controlling the muscles to be able to move the arm naturally, he didn't want to use the few status recoveries he had left so he did that, looking at the elemental adaptoid he noticed that some parts of the body were losing color and the purple energy was starting to fade.
"O what a pleasant surprise" said Tarleton surprised to see Derek move his arm naturally after having fractured his arm.
"I still have many surprises you pig headed bastard" but without noticing the adaptoid was already in front of him, barely managing to get his arms on x as he sensed danger, but still he was sent flying by the force of his enemy, if anyone saw Derek's arms after removing the metal scales they would see the bruises on his now fractured arms.
Propelling himself back by his flames on his feet forming and charging metal claws with fire aimed at the face of the adaptoid but the adaptoid took his hands and without releasing him slammed him against the wall, releasing him but without giving him rest launching a storm of blows imbued with ice and fire, although the fire did not hurt him and the ice barely did anything the force of each blow did affect him, each blow cracked every bone of his skeleton, waiting for an opportunity he used Flowing Edge.
*Flowing Edge: is a defensive form of Redirection Kata that deflects the trajectory of the blow by applying force to its side. It can be used to deflect bullets by calculating the trajectory of the bullet before moving to deflect it off the bone.
Derek's arms deflected the blows, causing them to hit the wall or miss, he began to approach without Tarleton noticing, using a secret art.
[ Crimson Lotus: Fire Dragon Fist + Swimming Swallow. ]
The unpredictable blows plus Dragon Slayer's fire began to impact the Adaptoid's body creating explosions on contact all over his body, for the final touch using the same attack he used on the first Adaptoid he faced, a large amount of fire and metal began to take shape on Derek's left arm until it looked like a Dragon's arm, all Tarleton saw through the Adaptoid was an orange Light, sending him flying with a fist mark on his face with melted metal falling off of his body falling back a few feet.
"Ha..Haha..." gasped Derek as using powerful techniques one after another and having abilities in his body for so long wasted mana and energy, although they regenerated at an incredible speed the mental exhaustion and damage his body had taken was different.
The adaptoid was trying to move, but the metal kept melting and losing its color implying that the attacks had affected him, gathering all his mana and unleashing all the anger he had accumulated he roared, Derek roared like he had never roared before "ROARRRR" a great amount of fire was unleashed from Derek.
"No damn it can't fail now, come on move adaptoid you are my best creation you can't lose a second time to someone with powers you were created to counter it" shouted Tarleton from a distant base with blood pouring from his eyes, nose and ears as he wanted to force the adaptoid and himself to more.
A great amount of flames and heat built up throughout the area from Derek as the epicenter, exceeding 3000 degrees, unconsciously the flames began to take the shape of a Dragon, Derek had finally activated one of the passive effects of the Fire Dragon Slayer, a flame or fire that becomes stronger the more emotions its user releases such as anger
[SECRET ART OF THE FIRE DRAGON SLAYER: BLADE OF EXPLOCATIVE FLAMES (GUREN BAKUENJIN)]
A torrent of sword-shaped flames hit the adaptoid in a spiral formation, each time they hit it exploded and burned it ignoring its defense, by the time the attack was over only the lower part of the adaptoid remained.
Derek seeing that he had triumphed fell on one knee his whole body hurt, he had never released so much energy, for an attack of tremendous magnitude, taking out the regenerative potions from his inventory he began to drink them as if there was no tomorrow, a few minutes later he got up with difficulty, walking towards what was left of the adaptoid he made it disappear in his inventory, climbing slowly to return where he separated from Nat and Kamala, hoping that nothing bad would happen to them.
On an AIM base Tarleton could be seen in a hover chair with a blank stare with blood pouring out of his eyes nose and ears making him look feral, he screamed out of nowhere
"AAAAAAAAA! Damn you, damn you, damn you I gave you the chance to join us not only did you reject it you destroyed my best creation... AAAAAAA, I will make you regret that you beg me for forgiveness hahaha" he screamed, cursed and laughed demonstrating his mental instability as his canonical part.
