Chapter 3 Awakening

Awakening of martial soul and soul power is an event every person on Douluo Dalu has to go through when they reach the age of six.

This is a big event in a person's life and this might as well define their future, whether they will be able to become soul masters or not.

Though for people like Long Yuan it does not involve their survival. Long Yuan has loving parents who would look after all his needs.

There are three main types of martial souls that one can awaken they are - Beast Martial souls, Body Martial souls and Tool Martial souls. These can be inherent or inherited. Everyone awakens a martial soul but it is rare for people to awaken soul power.

Those who awaken soul power can cultivate soul power to nourish their Martial souls thus making them stronger…

'This is what this book which father gave me to read basically says.' Long Yuan thought to himself.

'Today is the day in which I will go to the Red Mountain Academy with my dad to get awakened. ' Long Yuan thought to himself while feeling a bit nervous and moreover excited.

The street in front of the Red Mountain Academy was filled to the brim with children who were excited and nervous about what martial soul they might awaken and more nervous over the fact that they might not have soul power. These children were accompanied by their parents who were just as nervous.

Having soul power is really rare, it only appears in 1 out of 1000 children.

"Dad, what kind of martial soul did you and mom awaken? Did you have soul power?" A short boy with short black hair, big round golden eyes and long eyelashes asked his father with excitement apparent on his face.

"Me and your mother did not awaken soul power, son." A tall man with black and short beard replied to his son while sighing.

"Though we did make tons of money by working hard on our restaurant business. We own most of the top restaurants in Douluo continent and also in Star Luo continent." The tall man told his son with a prideful expression on his face and smiling slightly.

"Yes yes Dad I know you are a great businessman" Long Yuan replied with a small pout on his face.

"I wonder what kind of martial soul I will awaken." Long Yuan said with a longing expression on his face. He was wearing his favourite set of white shirt with red patterns and black pants which his mother bought for him for his 6th Birthday which was a few days ago.

"Yuan'er look here, It doesn't matter what kind of martial soul you awaken. Father will always love you unconditionally." Lin Tian said with a serious expression on his face.

"Long Yuan" A teacher from the Red Mountain Academy called out the name of the next child.

"I'm here" Long Yuan replied enthusiastically with determination showing on his big round eyes. The teacher looked at him with kind eyes and soon led him through the corridor.

Long Yuan was looking around with his big round eyes taking everything in the surroundings in. He was blown away seeing all the different kinds of equipment and decorations in the Red Mountain academy which was an elementary grade comprehension academy with the ability to hold 2 thousand students.

He soon walked into the awakening chamber which was a circular building made to help 6 year olds with awakening their martial souls and on the day of awakening the academies invite soul masters from spirit pagoda to help with the process of awakening.

As soon as Long Yuan entered the awakening chamber he was blown away by all the wonderful , technological and somewhat ancient looking inscriptions on the floor, walls and even the ceiling.

Inside the awakening chamber he saw a middle aged man with long black hair and beard. Looking into his big golden eyes curiously.

Long Yuan looked at the senior calmly and greeted him with a slight bow.

The soul master looked at him intently, blown away by how collected the child appeared to be "Stand to the centre of the chamber." The soul master said.

Long Yuan stood at the centre of the awakening chamber at the soul master's order. He looked a bit nervous.

The soul master used his soul power to light up the inscriptions on the ground. Long Yuan felt a faint energy creeping up his toes which then moved to different parts of his body. He accepted the energy that the soul master gave and emitted his own energy which means that he awakened his martial soul.

Suddenly Long Yuan started to sweat profusely and felt itchy all over his body. He started scratching his body furiously to stop this itchy sensation that he was feeling but to no avail.

The soul master was flabbergasted; it wasn't normal for people to to feel such pain during the awakening ceremony; it was just supposed to be his Martial soul coming out. And that would be the end of it.

The soul master soon stood next to Long Yuan making sure that he would stop the ceremony if he was in any mortal danger.

The soul master on nearing Long Yuan noticed a spear mark on Long Yuan's forehead which was emitting white and black lines that spread to all of his limbs, Creating a network of white and black lines.

A strong energy was emitted from Long Yuan's body. It came from his lower abdomen which was the most common area for soul power to appear from. The spirit master was even more shocked now. He had to go through many cases where no soul power came from the children because it was that rare.

The soul master wondered what Martial soul gave birth to this strong soul power. The previous black and white lines disappeared along with the spear marking on his forehead making it seem as if it was all a lie.

Long Yuan seemed to be under a lot of pain as he raised his hand and on which appeared a Spear which was as long as him with a dragon near the blade of the spear. The dragon had a mixture of black and white colors. There were black and white markings and on closer inspection he could notice that it had strange ancient inscriptions on it.

"A tool martial soul ?!?! And a mutated one at that?!? The soul master exclaimed, astonished with what he was seeing.

Long Yuan slowly opened his eyes which had a faint black and white glint to them.

Suddenly for a split second the soul master felt as if there was a silhouette of an ancient dragon seemingly made of two contrasting elements of Light and Darkness behind Long Yuan. This dragon seemed to look at the soul master's soul with a piercing gaze. This feeling soon faded away though this left the soul master shocked beyond belief.
