Chapter 40 — San

The cold force emerged from my hidden energy channels to spread throughout my body.

It surged into my spirit heart while bringing forth an excruciating coldness different from the previous hotness.

"Ahhh!"

I grabbed my chest as I fell on the ground, black lines running across my skin coldly—A freezing coldness akin to thousands of icy shards prickling me from the inside as they flowed across the blood vessels.

As the coldness consumed me, I felt the yang attribute and fire star bitterly fighting back.

I felt my body temperature lowering to a dangerous degree as there were no signs of heat. A vast network of frigid black lines now shone across my skin to replace the warm crimson lines.

This was similar to being submerged in a tank of liquid nitrogen.

The freezing coldness was changing the very core of my foundation.

And it was further amplified by the water star in my kidney.

My pulse grew almost non-existent as I shivered to the death uncontrollably. I couldn't stop my breathings from turning extremely shallow and rough.

So cold!

My spirit heart was pulsing slowly from the rapid invasion of the coldness, the same went for my blood flow that circulated sluggishly.

I was extremely pale with my body spreading frigid airs throughout the room.

Even my sweats seemed to form into foggy crystals.

The room was no different from a bone-chilling freezer.

At the same time, I could feel everything in my body protecting my body, but gradually losing their resistance.

I was about to die.

At first it was just painful, but it gradually became more terrifying as I slowly felt the coldness robbing my senses over my body.

As I slowly lost senses over my body, I started to become more aware about my mind that existed along with my body.

I then realized the coldness wasn't affecting my body, but it was severely affecting my mind to the point it started to show on my body.

The coldness was jealous of the warmth that took root in my heart.

It wanted to become part of me, too.

As I realized that, I started to embrace the coldness.

There was no need to feel scared.

I allowed the coldness to continue invading my whole body.

My spirit heart was adapting to coldness, its heartbeat becoming slower and faint—yet it sounded more clear and piercingly to the mind than before.

The coldness nervously transformed the spirit heart and then my entire body, covering them with a black hue.

The black crimson soul blood now surged into my brain, causing it to grow numb and painful from extreme coldness.

I painfully furrowed my brows as the pain was similar to a splitting headache.

I could feel my entire spiritual power being refined by the coldness to become more denser and purer. It increased my mental processing speed by a few notches, sharpened my senses, and improved my overall brain functions.

But the coldness soon had problems with my yang attribute.

Fortunately, the Life-Death Wheel and Elemental Stars were constantly trying to stabilize the two opposing forces.

Meanwhile, the spirit heart was still trying hard to adapt and evolve under the influence of the coldness.

After a while, the excruciating coldness started to fade away as my body returned to normal.

"Yin Attribute…."

An unblemished black fire now burned within my spirit heart just besides the white fire and fire star.

The black fire and water star were supporting each other.

I thought that cold energy was the Yin Attribute, but based on their auras, they were the same yet still different.

Maybe the Yin Attribute was just a by-product of the cold force.

I inspected the black fire that caused my spirit heart to evolve again.

The black fire was absorbing energy from the atmosphere to strengthen itself before sending out cool black lights across my blood vessels to nourish my spiritual power like life-death energy.

At the same time, it was able to improve the functions of my spirit heart, allowing its powerful heartbeat to affect the mind more effectively.

It was even possible for the enhancement of soul blood to slightly affect my spiritual power.

After the two attributes stabilized, I saw them forming into fiery lines that connected like black-white circuits.

As they rotated around each other, their opposing energies started to influence, complement, and restrict each other to form into a large black-white wheel.

Yin-Yang Wheel.

And similar to the Life-Death Wheel, the Yin-Yang Wheel was absorbing energy from the atmosphere to produce unique yin-yang energy to course my veins to nourish my body and mind.

It was also able to influence the Elemental Stars, causing them to mature even more faster, while still maintaining the delicate elemental balance.

The Fire Star was obedient to the Yang, while the Water Star supported the Yin.

The formation of the Yin-Yang Wheel even evolved the Battle Drum Ape.

Which was why I entered my spiritual consciousness to see the change of the Battle Drum Ape.

After reading various books about spirit masters, I knew it was possible to communicate with spirit souls in the spiritual consciousness.

The spirit souls would reside within it for the rest of their lives. However, I didn't plan to always lock them in such a place similar to a prison.

Although created artificially, I knew spirit souls were still special living beings that possessed their own thoughts and emotions.

I wanted to treat my spirit souls like a true family since they would accompany me for the rest of my life.

l

I entered my spiritual consciousness by simply meditating.

Once I opened my eyes again, I saw a large sea of red-green and white-black that were extremely concentrated and exceptionally pure.

I then spotted a familiar ape standing besides my spirit heart and two unique wheels.

Currently, I was similar to an eye that oversee everything, but I couldn't communicate with the ape just this alone.

That's why I started to compress my spiritual power, life-death energy, and yin-yang energy into the 'eye', causing it form into a small spiritual figure that was similar to my appearance.

I felt the size of my spiritual sea slowly shrinking.

However, I felt my control over my spiritual power improving in return.

"So it was possible to do this…" I was quite amazed by this small spiritual body composed of life-death and yin-yang energy.

It was corporeal spiritual body that possessed a certain level of strength.

I now knew that the life-death energy and yin-yang energy was able to create special substance.

I then flew toward the ape while sensing the intricate connection between our souls.

As I approached, I saw the appearance of the Battle Drum Ape had slightly changed from before.

The ape now had a black crescent moon crest on its forehead. Its flaming head was also black-white now.

The most important change was its dark golden fiery eyes now looking very clear and intelligent.

The ape looked at me curiously after sensing my presence.

"Do you know me?"

The ape nodded, but it was only able to speak in monkey language.

I then remembered something from Shi Yeng, so I tried to share my knowledge about language to the ape using our soul connection.

The ape was surprised to receive unfamiliar knowledge, but it quickly started to adapt and learn language.

It worked!

I was amazed by the ability of this newtype spirit soul.

The ape was soon able to form some awkward coherent words.

"... Master…!"

I then shook my head.

"You're not my servant. From now on, I'm your family and older brother." I communicated with the ape using our soul link.

"... Family?"

The ape tilted its head as it flaming head swirled into a question mark.

"Yes."

I nodded.

"We're family that would help each other to face any challenge in life…"

As I spoke those words, I started to feel guilty after realizing I would involve such a pure ape in my twisted life full of blood.

The ape's dark golden fiery eyes began to flare from the mention of family and challenge.

It soon started to pound its chest to produce awkward drumming sounds to fully express its happiness.

"Since you're my family, I will call you with a name now…"

I pondered for a moment.

"Name! Name! Name!" The ape pounded its chest even more excitedly.

"Your name will be Liu San. My family and little brother."

And this time, I'll protect my family.

"Liu San!"

Liu San roared and drummed loudly to proclaim that name.

His flaming head even turned into an exclamation mark.

As a result, our soul link vaguely became more solid and tighter.

I then started to look around my spiritual consciousness.

"Liu San, do you like it here?"

Liu San shook his head.

"Too lonely. All weird colours and scary sky…"

I looked at the sky that was covered by eerie dark clouds.

"Since this is inside my mind…" I flew above and closed my eyes as I pressed my palms together.

The spiritual sea turned chaotic as the colourful waters surged like angry tidal waves.

I then imagined.

The power of imagination was boundless.

The warm sun. The cool moon. The fresh air. The boundless earth. The lively trees, tenacious grasses, and miracle herbs. The ancient forest from Heaven Dou City.

My experience and comprehension.

I gradually felt my spiritual power being reduced by a lot, but the spiritual sea soon began to change.

"Let there be light."

I proclaimed solemnly under the sparkling eyes of Liu San.

And there was light.

The spirit heart rose to the heaven to become the sun(Yang/Life).

I saw the light, and it was good.

I then divided light from darkness

After the warm sun, there was the cool moon(Yin/Death).

So may this world have day and night.

"Let the waters under me form into lakes, streams, and oceans, and let the dry land appear."

My comprehension of five elements took form to create the foundation of this world of day and night.

The spiritual sea formed into colorful oceans, lakes, and streams from my comprehension of water. Then rich land appeared from my comprehension of earth.

"Now let the earth bring forth grass, herbs, and trees that yields seeds, medicine, poison, and sustenance."

Then grasses, herbs, and towering trees grew from the earth to form into an ancient forest from my comprehension of woods and experiences about poison and herbs.

The leaves swayed as fresh air blew across the ancient forest.

I then added the metal ores I knew underground.

Then fire became fiery clouds that blocked the darkness above the sky.

A small illusionary world now formed inside my spiritual consciousness. The only missing aspects were stars that filled the sky.

The creation of the illusionary world permanently reduced a significant amount of my spiritual power, but it became more solid and powerful than before.

A transformation of quality.

The creation also increased the absorption speed of my Elemental Stars. The same for Life-Death Wheel and Yin-Yang Wheel.

After the creation, it was now time for a major experiment.

Since Life-Death And Yin-Yang was able to create the special substance inside my mind…

I decided to create spiritual creatures inside this world.

And similar to process of newtype spirit souls, I sacrificed some of my spiritual power to form small spiritual creatures along with the life-death energy and yin-yang energy.

"Let this world abound with spiritual creatures, and let them walk above the earth."'

And I was able to form some tiny spiritual creatures.

However, they were only able to live simply without much intelligence.

They were not real lifeforms, but simple spiritual creatures.

But since they were blessed by many energies, it was possible for them to reproduce and multiply eventually to fill the illusionary world.

"Woww…!"

Liu San quickly started to play with the tiny spiritual creatures.

After seeing him having fun, I felt satisfied inwardly.

Liu San and tiny spiritual creatures roamed the ancient forest before encountering a small humble house which was also a clinic.

I appeared next to him, a bitter smile forming on my face.

"This is home."

I muttered gently.

"Our home."

As if sensing my heavy heart, Liu San tightly held my hand as we entered inside the small house.

I replicated it as much as possible, but it felt empty.

There was no one to welcome me home.

"..."

Liu San held my hands even more tightly and warmly.

"I need to decorate our home. I also need to create a study and library so you can learn on your own."

If I just shared them, I knew Liu San would just end up bored and unmotivated since he would lack challenge.

I waved my hand, causing a library room to appear.

A library that contained all the knowledge I've read and earned.

"Woah…!"

Liu San stared excitedly at the library full of unknown books.

Meanwhile, I went outside to create a smithy next to the house.

"This is also important."

Really.

I went to my old bedroom that haven't changed to sleep there.

After I opened my eyes again, I was back in reality.

A small figure then leaped out of my chest and floated beside me.

"I can go outside!" Liu San happily exclaimed.

Liu Su was in his human form that resembled me, but looked more like a cute wild kid that was as lively as the sun.

He has a long white-black hair and dark golden fiery eyes. His cheeks were also fluffy and chubby.

Apart from that, his clothes were doll-sized white-black loose robes.

I patted his head.

Next, I started to check the new changes I experienced.

There was the Yin-Yang Wheel born from the evolution of my spirit heart.

I noticed the yin-yang energy it produced was similar yet different from normal yin-yang, or the unique genetic yang of Battle Drum Ape.

It evolved.

To affect both my mind and body in a mysterious way.

The Yin-Yang Wheel also enhanced the natal abilities of my spirit heart.

The rage blood mist was now capable of accumulating 20 rage auras, taking a different form compared to before.

The rage mist circled around me like bloody flames.

It was cold yet hot.

The rage mist was only used for adding weight and power into my attacks in the past.

But it now passively guards my mind and body from attacks, as well as deal burn damage to bodies and cold slow to minds.

The rage mist were like curtains of yin-yang flames

"A nice upgrade…"

I thought the Demonic Arts would also show some upgrades.

As I meditated to recover, I felt someone entering the room.

And It was Shi Yeng.

"You finished absorbing?"

"Yes, it went easily."

"Of course, you've reached the standards needed to absorb a 1,587 years old purple soul ring."

Although she said that, Shi Yeng was inwardly surprised to see me successfully absorbing the newtype spirit soul. It was the first time, so she wanted to know more details about it later on.

I nodded.

"So what soul ability did you gain?"

I merely replied with deep anticipation to fight.

"I'll show you through actual battle."

Shi Yeng twistedly smile.

"That's what I like."

Our fight soon commenced.
