Do I Have To Be The Villain?

'Do I Have To be The Villain?' Lei, now Zhao Laohu, couldn't help but ask himself that question on numerous occasions. Cultivation and the pursuit of Martial Arts are the only ways of getting stronger in the World he was Reincarnated in. After taking over the Young Master's body, a new life begins, completely different from the previous one. Fortunately for him, the System given to him by the Goddess allows him to grow stronger and purchase powerful techniques by expending Villain Points gained by performing evil acts. Unfortunately for him, the System shackles his growth when it comes to the traditional ways of Cultivation and training. 'Enemies are coming for me because of what this Zhao Laohu did in the past. I need to grow stronger to survive but... To do this, I must rely on the System and commit evil... Which will, in turn, give birth to more enemies aiming for my neck.' Indeed, a conundrum. And that's without even counting the Hero destined to end the Villain's life. 'Tsk. Once again, I can't help but ask myself...' Do I Have To Be The Villain? Watch a master manipulator, actor, and liar do everything in his power and use everything he can as tools, whether foes or allies, for the sake of his goal.

Time For Some Sightseeing!

"Huh?"

"You heard me." Lei said, his face inches away from hers. "Ui Feng saw the two of you enter my room. You'll collect your pay, then give me 15 of those Silver Coins each. Not a bad deal, right? Five Silver Coins for doing... Not much."

"But we've been here for-"

The Young Master gently but firmly took hold of her face with his hand, squishing her cheeks.

"I'm not asking. I'm telling."

"Y-Yes... Young Master."

Seconds later, they were out of his room.

The Young Master remained on the bed.

Three minutes passed, and the women came back.

"So?"

"He... Only gave us 30."

"You're not lying, are you?"

"We would never lie to-"

"Take five each and leave the rest."

A pouch filled with Silver Coins was laid on the desk.

"Pleasure doing business with you." Lei said as he waved his hand.

They left. It was time to move.

'Guess I'll wait a bit.' He scratched his head. 'I've never been more bricked up in my life...'

About ten minutes passed, which was, unfortunately, not enough for Lei's problem to subside, and his door was knocked on.

"Come in."

Despite having been given permission, they still opened the door very slowly. They had seen the Young Master leave, accompanied by two women after all.

They sighed in relief when they found him alone. The couple of times they had interrupted Zhao... Were times they could not forget no matter how much they tried. Mostly because they really thought he would kill them.

The three Disciples stepped into the room, but they didn't take more than one step into it.

"Did you bring them?"

"Yes, Young Master." They answered in unison, before placing them on the desk to their left.

Folded dark clothes. Those worn by the Assassins they had dealt with on their way to the Jade City.

"What did you find out?" Lei asked as he pulled the blanket from below him, using it to cover his waist while they were placing the clothes on the desk.

Having the Disciples enter the room had already made his problem much less severe.

"We asked around as soon as we arrived, Young Master."

"Just like you wanted us to. Unfortunately..."

"We weren't able to find who made them or who bought them."

"If it's a Sect that sent them then-"

"Then they could have made those from within their walls." The Young Master continued the Disciple's sentence.

"Exactly, Young Master."

"Ui Feng didn't talk about it at all afterwards... Nor did anyone else." Lei said as he brought a hand to his chin.

"Lord Feng probably wanted you to enjoy your return."

"He probably didn't want you to worry about it."

"If we knew which Sect it was that sent them... Then what?" Lei asked.

"Then we would go to war for the Young Master!"

"We'll bury all your enemies!"

"Without a doubt!"

"Mm... I'm not ready for something like that... Yet." Lei muttered to himself. "Good. Thank you."

"Of course, Young Master!"

The three Disciples excused themselves and left the room.

'I could have them wear these and impersonate the Assassins. Sending them into the lion's den. Or into the tiger's, I should say. No... It wouldn't do anything. Even if I had one of them convince that Sect that I was killed... I can't do it myself, since it's possible that they'll recognize this face. Plus, my strength could be lacking for now. I need to take care of these guys.'

Lei pushed himself off the bed.

'They're not particularly smart. They're not particularly strong either. But they're extremely loyal. They helped a lot earlier. Yes, I can't start sacrificing pieces now. Not when I have so few...'

The first problem had subsided. Now, it was time to deal with the other, which was less urgent, but just as funny to Lei.

"I don't want to be rude, but could you-"

"The Young Master is amazing! I'm sure you must have a great body."

"Can you show us, Young Master?"

"Please leave..."

"Come on, Young Master. Join us in your bed. Let's-"

Open-

"Am I interrupting?"

"Older brother...!" Sun was clearly embarrassed, but not in any way more than the women were.

Lei turned towards them. They smiled and waved.

"Fuck off."

His tone left no space for arguing. They immediately ran out.

"I-I'm sorry, older brother. I hope there was no noise coming from-"

"Shut up. It's fine. You wanted them to go, right?"

Slump-

"Yes... But they wouldn't take no for an answer."

"I see. Do you like women, Sun?"

"Ha? Why..." Sun scratched his head. "Yes but-"

"Good. Anyways, can you help with something?"

"Of course...?"

"Lend me some money."

"...!"

Through Lei's persistency and Sun's inability to say 'no', the younger brother did end up coughing up ten Silver Coins.

"Alright, goodnight."

Sun furrowed his eyebrows. His older brother wishing him goodnight? Almost too good to be true.

"Goodn-"

"Oh, tell me one thing. Who cleaned up while I was away?"

"Um..." Sun looked away. "Since you don't let the Servants come close to your room, I... Um... Tidied up a bit."

"You did a bit more than that."

"I wanted you to... Come back to a nice room."

'Even though Zhao bullied him, he still wanted his brother to come back, huh?'

Lei turned away, but just when he was about to leave.

"OH!" Sun suddenly remembered.

Five minutes later, Lei was back in his room. By following Sun's instructions, he managed to find a small chest in which Zhao stored his money.

'Well, don't mind me...' Lei thought as he stared at the numerous and various Coins.

Sun said that he had moved the chest's location because it seemed to get lighter with time, even though Zhao wasn't there!

'Ui Feng dipping into it? Well, let's make sure it doesn't happen anymore.'

Lei placed his hand on the chest.

'Into my Inventory.' He thought, and the chest disappeared. 'Wait...' The Young Master's eyes suddenly brimmed. 'This is such a life hack!'

He leaped towards the clothes that had been placed on the desk by the Disciples earlier.

"Store."

The clothes disappeared.

"Store the clothes I'm wearing now."

They disappeared off his body.

"Put the dark ones on me."

The clothes appeared around his body perfectly.

"I don't need to put clothes on myself..." Lei whispered. "What a stupid yet convenient blessing. I can't believe I'm so happy about something so dumb."

Of course, he was happy because of how useful such a thing could be.

"Alright." Lei took hold of the plain and unembellished dark robe, tightening it with his hands. "Time to go sightseeing."

Just before he exited the room,

"Replace these with those Assassin Boots I purchased."

His steps silent and swift, Lei walked out of the room, and out of the pavilion.

Time to explore some more of this Jade City!
