Oli's confused reply was drowned out by the shocked cries of the other three people in the room.
Zelsh exchanged flustered glances with his old mentor. Neither could say anything more, despite their mouths hanging open.
Lord Treeda was the only person able to shout back with another question.
"It's true? Such a technique truly exists outside of legends and folktales?"
"Not the way you think it does at least."
Eeole took that moment to stretch his arms and puff out his chest. "Ahh… It always feels good to get out with my own eyes and lungs.
"Just because I'm linked to a doppelganger doesn't mean it's a perfect copy. If anything, it's nothing more than a mannequin carrying a shred of my soul and consciousness. Without crafting the doppelganger properly, it would be even weaker than Oli. It takes a lot of time and effort to create a half-decent doppelganger.
