Chapter 29: Skeletons.

Richie slept for 7 hours, which was a lot of sleep for a cultivator, the previous events that had transpired really took alot from him.

It turned out that nothing had attacked his defence talisman over the time he slept, but it was always better to be safe than sorry.

Now Richie needed a place to store his dagger, his talisman and his healing paste, so who better to ask than the system.

"System do you have a way to store things"

Richie asked, he knew that unless he asked, the system probably wouldn't tell him.

- Wow, I'm surprised to asked, yes I do have a storage, you can only store 10 items though, the items also have to be under 10 cubic meters- the system responded,

the system's storage was in fact just 10 storage rings that had 10 cubic meters of space, though these 'storage rings' could only hold one item

Richie then placed the dagger he bought for 100 gold coins and also the protective talisman into the system storage.

" Well then, where do I go?" Richie asked himself as he stared intently at the thousand of holes which lined the cavern, trying to figure out which one would lead him to the exit.

In the end he didn't find anything, so he just went into a hole randomly, he made sure to be very careful whilst travelling through the passageway he chose.

After travelling for a few minutes, he entered a clearing, there were oil lamps scattered all around the place, illuminating the clearing, what he saw however, was not as comforting as the oil lams.

There were 35 skeletons standing right in front of Richie, staring at him like a predator would to a prey.

Then the front 20 of them charged towards Richie whilst the back 15 seemed to be chanting spells.

This was bad for Richie, he didn't know the skeletons strength, but he knew that if was going to survive this ordeal, he would have to deal with the skeletons at the back first, this was basic strategy.

The skeletons moved fast, but Richie was just barely faster, from this he concluded that the skeletons' strength was at about the 5th sub realm of the second realm (from now on I will be writing sub realm instead of sub stage, it feels more natural to write)

Well, guess it's time to see if my new battle technique is really that useful. Richie then used the fire missile technique according to the instructions he had previously received.

Then out of his hands, a missile made up of 25% of Richie's qi flew out of his hands (Richie , naturally can control how much qi he uses in his attacks, he used 25% of his qi to see if the skeletons at the back were really as brittle as how the are in common stories)

The missile then shot towards the centre most skeleton at the back, within milliseconds it arrived and hit its target.

*Boom* A huge blast of fire exploded in the direct centre of the 'mage skeletons' formation. All of the skeletons were instantly blown into pieces, all but the outermost two skeletons.

" Yess" Richie temporary let his guard down to witness the 13 skeletons explode into pieces, it was quite satisfying.

But just the, a skeletons' claw slashed onto his face, Richie then was shot quite far into the distance, his wound wasn't that big as the skeletons' claw was not that sharp, but the real danger was the death element contained in the wound.

Richie immediately sealed the death energy in his wound, the seal wouldn't last long, it would only last like a minute.

Too bad Richie couldn't really counterattack as solid beams of death energy came flying towards him.

" Damn it, I knew those mage skeletons were no good" Richie exclaimed, now that the mage skeletons had activated their spell, they no longer needed to charge up and could constantly fire those beams of death energy at Richie.

The worst part about this was that if Richie was ever hit, he would have to use a portion of his qi to seal the death energy away, but still this wasn't too bad, if he was only scraped and barely any death energy gets into he wound, his minor death energy immunity (chapter 26) would help him deal with it.

He immediately sent 2 fire missiles toward the 2 skeletons, these two missiles only contained around 10% of his total qi (5% each missile)

Still, this was enough to kill the two skeletons, now Richie was free from the ranged restrictions and could fight the 20 skeletons in front of him properly.

He sent a few kicks towards the skeletons and managed to kill 4 of them, he also sent two missiles, each containing 5% of his qi, towards the skeletons, because of Richie's kiting, the skeletons were all grouped up, the two missiles destroyed 11 skeletons.

For the remaining 5, Richie just punched them to death, the skeletons were really fragile, though due to him getting so close, he received two more injuries.

Well, now Richie has somthing to do with his newly created healing paste, he rubbed it over his wounds and as the paste seeped in, the wounds were healed, though the death energy was still there, for that, Richie bought a anti death energy pill for 1000 gold from the system, he swallowed it and the death energy disappeared like it was never there.

" Damn system what the hell were those skeletons?" Richie shouted at the system, he was extremely annoyed that the system didn't tell him about the skeletons on the cavern, he knew that the system could have told him but didn't.

-They were death skeletons, they carry the distinctive aura of death, each of their attacks are imbued with the death element, this is what makes them so deadly, you were lucky you only faced a few skeletons, normally they would appear in the thousands- the system said, not at all feeling angry at Richie for feeling indignant about the system not warning him about any of this stuff.

"How could I forget, it has only been a day since I bought it" Richie suddenly exclaimed.

He realised that he could have just used his defensive talisman, all of the skeletons were under the Third realm so naturally the defensive talisman would be able to block all of their attacks indefinitely.

Next time, if Richie found more 'under leveled' skeletons, he would just use his talisman, it would make life so much easier.

please tell me if you find any errors, I will try to fix them.
