Chapter 23: The second test (2)

After leaving the tavern, Richie went to a clothes shop where he bought multiple bags of clothes spending about 25 gold coins.

Then, he returned to the tavern to store his new clothes. After that, he set out towards the Alchemy guild, upon arrival he once again saw thousands of people standing in front of the guild, though there were a lot less people than yesterday, mainly because they got eliminated.

Richie was relatively on time as a few minutes later Zhang wei showed up before explaining how they were going to ensure our safety and basic things you would need to know if you wanted to have a chance at survival, and also that we would have a week before having to return.

After that, Richie and all of the other participants were given a 'distress' bead, this was their way of ensuring that nobody would die, once it is infused with qi, it would send a distress signal outwards to Elder Zhang who in turn would know your whereabouts through the signal and then come to your rescue. Of course, if this were to happen, you would be disqualified.

Richie didn't really know how he would be able to 'smell' herbs, but he had an idea on how to.

- Smelling herbs, huh, you don't need to worry, based on how things are going, you won't need to 'find' any herbs- the system said to Richie.

Richie was a bit puzzled by what the system just said, but he trusted the system, although they hadn't gone through much together, he would be dead in whirlwind Valley if it weren't for the system.

- but that doesn't mean you shouldn't look for herbs- the system added

"you're not making much sense here system"

Richie said to the system

- And here I was thinking you were smart for an eleven year old- The system muttered

After explaining everything, Zhang wei told everyone to follow him into the alchemy guild.

Then he took everyone to the teleportation arrays.

" These are our teleportation arrays" Zhang wei explained to everyone whilst gesturing toward a golden circle in the ground stretching over 100 square metres.

"every guild has one of these arrays, I need all of you to get inside this golden circle before I can teleport you all to the Valley" Zhang wei told everyone.

" I will give you all a number card, you will go in groups through the array" Zhang wei continued whilst sending numbered cards to all of the participants.

Richie's card had the number 3, he would be going in the third group. Zhang wei then called everyone with a card with the number 1 up to the array, he then did some odd hand signs and chanted somthing in a seemingly old fashioned language.

Seconds later, the golden circle on the floor ascended to a height of 25 meters then descended back to the floor.

It repeated this a few times before a golden barrier formed around the circle, then it shined with a blinding light causing Richie to Close his eyes in fear of being blinded.

When he opened them once again, the people that were once in the circle were now gone.

Zhang wei then called up the people with a number to card and the same process happened once again.

For each teleportation, it would take 10 minutes for the array to gather enough energy for teleportation.

a few more minutes passed before Richie's group was called up to the array.

Once Richie entered the array, he immediately felt the the purest qi he had ever felt before, his body greedily absorbed the qi like a black hole, Richie recognized this opportunity and immediately started cultivating whilst standing up (thus is possible, you can cultivation doing whatever you like as long as there is qi to absorb.

9 minutes passed by and Richie broke through to the 6th sub realm, yet he was so immersed in cultivation that he didn't realise it, this was quite surprising as in the array, Richie didn't feel the pain of cultivating. Odd

- yep, stupid as always- the system muttered to itself.

At the ten minute mark, the array shone with a golden light, yet it wasn't blinding.

" WAIT STOP, THERE ISN'T ENOUGH QI TO STABILISE THE TELEPORTATION" Zhang wei shouted.

Yep, by absorbing the qi in a teleportation array, the array would destabilize and the teleportation would become unable to teleport people to a specific point.

Zhang wei didn't tell any of the participants about this though, the qi in the array was so pure that it was impossible for humans to absorb it, so he didn't bother telling anyone not to absorb the qi in it

Richie, however, was able to absorb the qi because of his yin-yang cultivation technique, cultivators, well human cultivators can only absorb qi with a purity of slightly higher or lower that their own, normal cultivators wouldn't have a qi purity anywhere close to the purity of the qi in the teleportation array.

But due to Richie's cultivation technique, his qi purity was about the same as the qi in the teleportation array.

After shouting that, Zhang wei immediately rushed towards the array, but it was too late to stop it, all of the group 3 participants were gone.

Yet surprisingly all of the participants except for Richie ended up in the whirlwind Valley. I wonder who could have caused that?

- Achoo- the system sneezed,

- That's odd, I'm pretty sure that in this form, I can't sneeze- the system wondered to itself.
