Devil's Luck[Arc 5: Worlds Apart]

Zenkichi Hitoyoshi is a young man, destined to be chained by fate in the early story of canon. He was a man without ambition, drive, will and talent to become something great. Well, that'll soon change. For better, or for worse. .... AN: Alright, let's do this one last time, probably. Here's another Medaka Box fanfic that I hope it'll get to a hundred chapters before I drop it, or not? It depends on life really. And positive comments and reviews, I don't really care much of power stones(tho, that doesn't mean you can't...) but positive feedback on my work really inspires me more to write. Want to check out my pa-treon and be ahead of your fellow WN kin? Well here's the link: pa–treon.com/FroztDouluo *Just get rid of the dash. Edit: I just changed it to Gilgamesh because... Zenkichi basically almost resembles him at this point(I didn't planned for this happen) Schedule and the amount of chapters I'd be popping out? Tuesday and Thursday(UTC +8), 2–3 chapters a week(it's usually just 2 chapters because I'm slow at making anime related stories).

Chapter 147: Three Goddess Alliance

"Nya! Do you honestly believe that just the two of you can take me and Mister Jaguar down?!" Jaguarman warned, despite her clearly injured state, she stared at them defiantly.

Mister Jaguar, still recovering from the intense battle, growled lowly, standing protectively by her side.

Ereshkigal blankly looked at Jaguarman up and down, and said, "Yeah, I think it wouldn't be a fair fight."

"Nyahaha! That's right! It'll take at least a hundred of you guys to get the slightest chance of winning against me!" Jaguarman boasted, puffing out her chest despite her ragged appearance—completely forgetting that most of her clothes had been burned off.

Her large firm breasts bounced freely, rosy pink nipples stood at attention, perfectly formed teardrops that were borderline impossibly perky.

Both Zenkichi and Ereshkigal stared wide-eyed, the latter especially had the most reaction as she turned completely red and quickly covered her face with her hands.

"K-Kyaaaa! You pervert! Cover yourself properly!"

"Noice," Zenkichi raised a thumbs up Jaguarman blinked in confusion at Ereshkigal's reaction, glancing down at herself. Her eyes widened in realization as she finally noticed her state of undress.

"Nyahh!?" she yelped, quickly crossing her arms over her chest in a hasty attempt to cover herself. "N-no looking, nya!"

Mister Jaguar let out an amused rumble, seemingly unfazed by the situation, while Jaguarman scrambled to find something to cover herself with.

'She's an idiot,' Ereshkigal inwardly groaned.

"Well, she's certainly eccentric for a Goddess." Zenkichi said as he appeared by her side. His expression turned serious as he surveyed the aftermath of his annihilation of Sloth. "Although I'm more empowered here due to the sun and my other abilities, these two sin monsters are...weaker than Envy."

He glanced at Ereshkigal with a questioning gaze, "So how did you, in your own homefield, lose to her?"

Ereshkigal went silent for a while and sighed, "I....truthfully, she simply caught me off guard. I was busy with an important task of managing the souls that flow through the Underworld," Ereshkigal explained. "I wasn't prepared for Envy to target me directly. She exploited the situation, attacking when my attention was divided. I underestimated her willingness to strike at that exact moment."

Zenkichi listened closely, his gaze thoughtful. "So she played on your responsibilities and waited for the perfect time to strike. That's why you couldn't fight back effectively and had some of your authority stripped."

"Exactly," Ereshkigal admitted with a touch of frustration in her voice. "But it won't happen again. I've learned from that mistake, and I'm ready for whatever comes next when I've recovered enough to face her once more."

'At least, I hope I can recover....' She looked down on her hands, feeling something was off within her. But for the life of her, she couldn't figure out what it was!

Even her "other" didn't find anything off. It might've been nothing...

She glanced at him and asked, "Well? Aren't you going to tell me why you're insisting on meeting another Goddess so urgently?" Ereshkigal asked, her tone a mix of curiosity and suspicion.

Zenkichi remained silent for a moment, as if weighing his words carefully. He glanced at Jaguarman, who had finally covered herself with....a onesie?

'Where in the heck did she get that?!' Zenkichi stared at her in disbelief before shaking his head, turning his head to answer Ereshkigal's question, "I need the Three Goddess Alliance help for what's to come."

"What?" Ereshkigal narrowed her eyes, clearly confused and a bit nervous by Zenkichi's statement. "The Three Goddess Alliance? Why would you need their help? And more importantly, what exactly is coming?"

Zenkichi exhaled slowly and said, "Honestly, I'm not quite sure. When I arrived in this world, I had fully expected the information I had of this timeline to be thrown out of the window with my arrival—I think you know the butterfly effect?"

Seeing Ereshkigal nod in understanding, Zenkichi continued, "Yeah, well, it's worse than I thought—especially these Monsters. They are an anomaly that I, and possibly even the Gods and Gilgamesh, had no clue would make an appearance."

Ereshkigal nodded, "Indeed. These creatures exude an aura similar to demons, yet they are far more foul and powerful than any demon that I know of."

"They actually felt like..."

She frowned, recalling Envy. "Especially that thing.... Although I had been caught off guard by her, I am still a God. To have the power to challenge me, just what are they? You know them, don't you? More than they're simply demons or monsters, you know of their identity."

"....Somewhat. I only know that they are monsters close to the title of Beast, calamities to humanity." Zenkichi admitted, his voice heavy with the weight of his words. "And the reason for their manifestation in this world, is all due to me."

He then briefly explained that someone or something with powers beyond a God had made a "request" to send him into this universe to help Chaldea restore the proper human history.

"Something beyond a God? That's....could it be a Type? No, those things wouldn't care about messing with history. Plus, the counter force would have a more active role in this singularity." Ereshkigal murmured, seemingly deep in thought as she considered the implications of what Zenkichi had revealed.

'If something beyond a god is pulling the strings, then this is far worse than I imagined. If it's those beings.... Even I, or probably what's left of this era's pantheon, won't be able to handle them.' She stared at Zenkichi, feeling suspicious of his identity.

Just who was this man? To have the favor of such powerful beings and to be sent here on such an important mission—it wasn't normal. Even the way he carried himself, the confidence, the sheer presence he had, it all felt beyond what a mere Godling could possess.

Might he be....a Hero? Not a Heroic Spirit, but a protagonist of his own story, the cornerstone of his own legend. Was this his journey to leaving a mark in history?

"And these Monsters of Sin...are trials for you, Zenkichi?"

Zenkichi nodded, "Basically, yes. I am truly sorry for the trouble this is causing."

Ereshkigal shook her head, "Don't be, I understand the intent of your backer."

Zenkichi blinked. "You do?"

"Zenkichi, I am a God. The Goddess of the Underworld, Death and supposedly Evil by some mortals. I and any God can understand the eccentricities of higher powers."

She shrugged her shoulders, sighing, "We just can't help but abuse our powers for our own amusement."

"I...see," Zenkichi sweatdropped at Ereshkigal's bluntness.

"....Though, are you confident that you can get the Goddesses to ally with you?"

Zenkichi smiled, looking confident and determined, coupled with his good looks, Ereshkigal couldn't help but have a small red tint on her face.

"Absolutely. Plus, I only need this Goddess's help anyway."

"Huh? What do you mean by that?" She tilted her head, confused.

Zenkichi smiled at her, a knowing smile.

Ereshkigal stared.

For quite a while actually.

And her eyes widened in shocked realization.

"Wait! Do you—?"

She stopped, a familiar divine energy suddenly surged through the area, causing Ereshkigal's expression to shift.

"She's here."

Jaguarman popped her head out of the bushes, beaming. "Nya? Ah, it's Kuku! Kuku's here!"

"Kuku?" Zenkichi smirked, 'That must be Quetze-uh...Quetzolcal....? Ah, fuck. How the hell do I pronounce her name correctly?!'

Skreee!*

A giant winged serpent suddenly descended from the sky, its massive form casting a shadow over the clearing.

The serpent's scales shimmered with a multitude of colors, and its eyes glowed with an otherworldly light. It let out a piercing screech as it landed gracefully on the ground, the earth trembling beneath its weight.

From the serpent's back emerged a figure dressed in elaborate robes, her presence radiating an aura of bloodlust—especially as how she grinned down at them, showing sharp white teeth, whilst holding a macana in her hands.

Quetzalcoatl, this was the God's name before them, once regarded as the same as the god Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli, the Good God who is the embodiment of the Morning Star, as well as the Mayan god Kukulkan.

One of the supreme existences in North and Central America as well as in Aztec Mythology.

"Kuku!!" Jaguarman flew out of the bushes, dressed in...a onesie? A perfectly clean one at that. Where did she even get that?

Quetzalcoatl blinked.

Just as Jaguarman was about to hug her, she unhesitatingly smacked her away with her huge macana to the side, sending her flying into the depth of the forest.

"Nyaaaa!"

"..."

Zenkichi, Ereshkigal and Quetzalcoatl all had varying degrees of reaction.

Zenkichi was amused, Ereshkigal was stunned and Quetzalcoatl was....smiling, sweetly at that.

"My, my~ Have you two seen my subordinate? I cannot see her anywhereee! As one would expect from Jaguar, she is in perfect stealthhh!"

'What in the heck is wrong with these two?!' Ereshkigal stared at her with a hint of fear in her eyes, was this how Gods from far away lands behave with one another?

One was eccentric and the other was ferocious.

Quetzolcal opened her eyes, her beautiful emerald eyes glowing with a mischievous light.

Her grin widened as she eyes Zenkichi, who locked eyes with hers.

Taking a step forward, she jumped into the clearing, creating a small crater as she descended.

"I see, so you're the one who released that powerful blast of Sun divinity in my forest," Quetzalcoatl's voice was smooth and melodious. "Very well, so I take it as your declaration of a challenge towards me?"

"What—?" Ereshkigal cried out.

"Yes," Zenkichi responded with a calm demeanor. "Quetzolcal, I challenge you to a battle. Loser has to do anything for the winner."

"...I'll accept any and every challenges."

Quetzolcal slowly grinned, showing sharp teeth and scary eyes. "Because I find that to be fun!"
