"Did you just…"
Rayn's eyes were open wide as he stared at Elise. However, he wasn't the only one who stood there with eyes wide.
"I'm sorry. I'm still mad at you. But, I've never called anyone else dad. I used to call mom's husband, Uncle. So, I just wanted to know for once how it felt like to call someone dad. I'm sorry if it offended you."
Elise rumbled staring at the ground, not realizing that Rayn was crying. "It… didn't. You can call me dad whenever you want. Now, shall we go home? I suppose you still want your answers."
"I suppose. Let's get in the car."

Elise shifted uncomfortably in the car as it sped through the quiet streets. The tension between her and Rayn was palpable, thick like the humid night air. She glanced at him from the corner of her eye. He was staring out of the window, his expression unreadable.
