Chapter 21: The Spoils of Victory
Odin and Freya meticulously combed through the aftermath of their duel against Xii'Khan, scouring the chamber for any treasures or valuable relics that could aid them on their journey. The eerie silence of the chamber hung in the air, a stark contrast to the ferocious battle that had raged moments before.
As they began their search, the remnants of the Archon's presence seemed to linger in the chamber. Xii'Khan's Arc Core, pulsating with True Ether, was a testament to his formidable power. Odin carefully retrieved the core and stored it in his inventory.
Freya, with her scanning capabilities, identified various valuable items scattered about the chamber. The sight of a substantial horde of Glimmer, a total of 50,000, brought a knowing grin to Odin's face. This currency would prove invaluable in his journey ahead.
Among the loot, they discovered three True Ether Cells, precious artifacts infused with the essence of the Fallen's True Ether. Odin was well aware of their potential use in enhancing weaponry and armor, and he secured them with care.
Clumps of Spinmetal, a valuable resource for crafting and upgrading, were collected. These raw materials would contribute to their arsenal's growth and power. Arc Cells, a source of energy commonly used by the Fallen, were also collected.
A mysterious Ether Collector, adorned with the symbols of the House of Devils, piqued Odin's curiosity. He added it to their loot, planning to investigate its purpose later. Fallen banners, adorned with the iconic emblems of various Houses, were claimed as trophies of their victory.
Amidst the spoils, Odin discovered an engram, shimmering with purple luminescence. It was a Legendary Armor Engram, promising a powerful addition to his gear. Additionally, there were twelve blue engrams, potential sources of new weapons and equipment.
The duo continued to gather the spoils of their conquest, the sense of triumph fueling their efforts. Freya's soft voice resonated in Odin's mind, offering suggestions and organizing their findings within his inventory.
As they made their way out of the chamber, Odin couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment. The duel with Xii'Khan had tested his skills and resolve, and the rewards were a testament to his victory. Yet, he remained focused on his mission, aware that the path of a Guardian was filled with challenges.
Once outside, Freya initiated a conversation with Odin as they headed toward a designated rendezvous point. Her digital voice carried a hint of curiosity as she broached the topic.
"Odin, we have quite the haul from our battle with Xii'Khan. What are your plans for our newfound treasures?"
Odin considered their options as they walked. "First, we should head to the Tower. I'll have the Cryptarch decode the engrams we found. Then, it's off to see Banshee-44 to begin forging the Hand Cannons."
Freya nodded, her blue eye shimmering. "Sound plan. I'll guide you to the Cryptarch, and then we'll make our way to the Weaponsmith."
Arriving at the Tower, they approached Master Rahool, the Cryptarch. Odin handed over the engrams they had collected, including the Legendary Armor Engram, and watched as Rahool expertly decoded their contents.
From the Legendary Engram emerged a pair of dark brown leg armor pieces, steel-tipped boots, and armored shins. They were an excellent addition to Odin's gear, providing enhanced protection and resilience.
In addition to the armor, Rahool also decrypted the blue engrams, revealing a variety of weapons and gear. Odin sifted through the results, deciding to keep a few items for potential future use and marking the rest for sale.
With his inventory cleared of the newly acquired gear, Odin and Freya made their way to the Tower's hangar, where the towering figure of Banshee-44 awaited them.
Banshee-44 acknowledged their arrival with a nod and a grunt. Odin laid out the materials, True Ether Cells, Glimmer, and the Arc Core, and conveyed his request. "I'd like you to forge two Hand Cannons for me, Banshee. Use the Omertosa as the base and frame for one of them."
Banshee-44 inspected the materials and nodded in agreement. "Sure thing, Guardian. It might take a bit of time, so check back later."
Satisfied with the arrangement, Odin and Freya left the Weaponsmith, the anticipation of their new Hand Cannons building within Odin. It was a step closer to being fully prepared for the challenges ahead.
Their next destination was the Vanguard, where Odin would report on the successful mission and claim the rewards of his victory against Xii'Khan. The weight of the spoils in his inventory was a tangible reminder of his growing strength as a Guardian.
