I woke up at 6 six as per my biological clock and did my morning routine, 45 minutes of Yoga and 20 mins of meditation. Made me a good Indian breakfast. I love savoring Buttery Aloo Paranthas on my off days. Ssshhh… don't tell my manager or my dietician, they would kill me.
As they say, you can take an Indian out of India but you can't take India out of an Indian. And Though I was practically a US citizen but I had spent the first 5 years of my life in India cause my dad was still here in the US working on a huge project because of this, he was promoted as the branch head here in New York and we moved to the US permanently.
I had to drop by my family's home for our weekly Dinner Dates, Yes.. we called it dinner dates rather than plans because it sounded too ordinary and there was nothing ordinary about our family. :D
My family is my safe zone and people who would not treat me like the superstar I am or yell at me for eating whatever I see, like "Alice in wonderland". My brother has a series of videos he shot of me eating whatever I find on my way while roaming here and there in my home and named the folder "Alice in Wonderland". He thinks I didn't see it but I just let it slide. He still shoots videos of me eating.
My Mother was Just like every Indian mother out there, lovely and worried about her kids being too skinny by eating outside food or takeaways. I got my looks and my height from my mom and my personality from my dad. A perfect mix of both.
My mother is my iron lady. Someone who always pushed me to do my best in everything and my support system.
I miss her a lot but it was a wise decision to move out on my own. Because of my work schedule, early morning calls, and late-night pack ups. I realized it's affecting my family and my mother's health as well because she would be there when I leave early morning or when I come back home at 2-3 in the night.
It took me a month to convince her about me moving out and my brother also tried his best as he could see why I was doing it. Finally, she agreed and for 5 years now I have been living on my own.
I miss them a lot sometimes, even though they live just a 30 mins drive away.
