Time to hunt

3 months had passed since the military settled in the village and begun to train them, at least that what they call it, people here called it torture, mostly the youths and those of the prime age would be chosen to go into war.

A blonde haired young man was talking to men who looked like they were in their late forties, it was Logan.

The three stayed within a room whose windows were shut close and blocked with wooden planks obstructing the moonlight from entering the house.

It was pure darkness and the only source of light was a candle light on a table in the room center.

"The people in the village have suffered enough! we will not remain under the military control, we won't take more of this, we have to fight!" One of the men spoke, he was 5'9 with short brown hair and a redshirt, he looked like he had shaven recently, his name was Aaron.

"In time, we already know the in and out of the night patrol routine, we know each of their abilities and skills , with the amount of soldiers constantly being sent off to the front lines and our numbers, we can easily over power them and head into the mountains" another man who had black hair and a blue shirt with golden symbols decorated all over it, he looked younger than the remaining two he was named Roger.

"Yes, our chances are high enough, the casualties would be insignificant compared to the success we would achieve but even with numbers, we need fighters those who are willing to clash head on with the enemy...That why Logan we need_"Aaron spoke but Logan interrupted, his voice echoed through the room as every one of this men came to a stand still

"insignificant casualties!, the people you called significant have lives as well, they are alive right now living their lives, most of them all have friends and family they cherish and you want them to throw it away all because their lives would mean nothing in your big scheme, who do you think would agree to this, why would I agree to this?"

Logan asked, his hand banged on the table with force as the light from the candle shined on his face figure forming a massive shadow behind him on the wall, his voice clearly showed rage but this men only had a smile on their faces.

One of the men chuckled, he had remained quiet throughout the conversation, his name was Marcus, three of the men here were the most influential people within the village.

Their families were the founders of the village and they were the heads, they also have control over most village affairs though they still submit to the laws which were set upon them by the kingdom police authority, the authorities didn't interfere much unless matters needed their attention.

"That righteous attitude of yours leaves me dissappointed, I am sure Adam is the reason why you behave like this, he taught you what was right from wrong, I feel bad for you, he forced his idiotic ideals on you at a young age now you don't even know how the world works...the fool hindered your precious talent with his stupid moral codes, sacrifice!, this world runs on sacrifice, sacrifice family, time, money and even our very humanity, it runs this world. and if you aren't willing to crush others and use them as stepping stones to reach your goal then you should be prepared to be used as one"

the man uttered, he was a fat bald man who had a black beard, he wore a green shirt with blue trousers, Logan was in the beginner rank, regardless of the rank name, it was a major achievement...among commoners

most nobles families used so many resources to just make their members breakthrough into Beginner rank, the minimum age that most nobles children break through into the beginner rank is 10 and the maximum is 12.

It took 1-3 years for one to enter novice rank normally, nobles families start their training in magic at the age of five and with their resources and theirs only took months till they reached the novice rank and it takes a few years for them to reach beginner rank but for Logan it was different.

Logan didn't need any special resources to enter into the beginner rank, it was rare to see any normal commoners pass the novice rank, Logan didn't break into the beginner rank like others

...

He was born that way!.

Logan wasn't a rare talent like others...no, no, no, he wasn't a rare talent, if any experienced magic professor were to know of him, they would come to one conclusion and that is

...Logan was an anomaly.

Something that wasn't supposed to exist, it took years to reach the Beginner rank , for nobles they need years to reach it but Logan didn't even need days, he didn't even need effort.

If any nobles family found him then they would immediately recruit him into their ranks, he was someone who everyone knew and respected, his influence wasn't as much as this three but it also couldn't be called inferior.

Everyone in the village could use magic but that doesn't mean they were full fledged warriors, some of their magic was quite useless in a fight, the only reason some decide to learn magic is because the jobs involving magic are numerous.

most of the fighters of the village wouldn't even listen to the three big families, they would only listen to one person, and that was Logan, they admired him, they saw him as a true leader not only because of strength but due to his charisma.

That why this men needed Logan on their side, they had tried to recruit him several times but it all ended in failure, he didn't try to exercise authority over the village neither did he ever choose to take on any position of power, he just behaved like any other villager.

so they knew they couldn't get him with money but they could get him with something else, something more precious to him than riches.

"What do you think would happen after you and Adam are sent to the battlefield, what about your grandma and those two kids, who do you think will take care of them if anything happens to you two" Marcus asked.

Logan knew why they brought this up, trying to use this to motivate him to try and escape the village and he wasn't about to fall for it.

"If it comes down to it and we have to fight in the frontlines then I will make sure we both survive, so don't even think of using that to get my support"

Marcus sighed upon hearing this, he believed that Logan thought that because he was in the beginner rank that he was untouchable.

"You behave as if war is child play, do you really think that you can decide your life and death when your enter the battlefield, that not how it works boy! in about a month time you both will be sent out of the village and who knows how long you would stay there fighting!, Logan this plan won't work without you, there are so many people here relying on the three of us to escape this place"

Marcus spoke, he was indeed saying the truth.

"This people are blinded by fear, they aren't thinking properly, they are all going to die like flies if they proceed with this!" Logan said.

People didn't only fear the recruitment into war but also the soldiers themselves, they could do as they pleased and anyone who dared speak up against any of them would be attacked by them, they would accuse those who fought back of treason and no one would speak up even fellow victims of their abuse would also support the soldiers all because of fear.

This was all in the day, while by night some of this soldiers would kidnap women and children doing god knows what with them, some would take them out of the village and sell them off for quick cash, while others would enjoy themselves for the night satisfying their disgusting fetishes and lust.

It was horrible for anybody who was here, the people couldn't take it anymore, some tried to escape by night but were quickly caught and dealt with serious punishment.

"Logan you are just making to many excuses at this point, everyone is prepared to rush out of this place regardless of the danger so Why are you still standing against the plan!" one of the men asked, it was Aaron.

"It nothing, I really just need sometimes to think about it" Logan hadn't expected to be put in this situation, if he accepted people would die but if he rejected the people here who wish to leave would still keep suffering.

"It okay Logan, we understand he weight of the decision needed to be made but if you haven't decided in a week time then you should expect our presences in your home!" Marcus spoke, his voice was intimidating, it was bold and loud similar to a mini earthquake, the buildings shook from it intensity and his explosive aura drowned the vicinity combined with the other two. they were at the 'Beginner rank' .

This was a threat!.

'This people are so shameless, in noble clans these rank is for 12yr old while this men are in their forties '

"So that how it is, you people can stoop so low to threaten a man family who isn't even involved in this, don't you people have any shame" Logan spoke with his own terrifying red aura leaving his body, it was far higher than theirs, it caused their very souls to quake from it might, their eyes widened n horror and their lips trembled trying to say something but no sound came out.

"The only reason you people are still alive after displaying such foolishness is because your reasons and goals are just, next just be careful of the ways you try to achieve these goals because if I catch any malicious intent next time even for a second, then don't expect to live for even a second more when I found out"

Logan took in a deep breath and the aura around him vanished, after seeing this, they composed themselves and managed to speak once more but this time they chose their words carefully.

"Logan my boy pardon us for uttering such nonsense, it was merely a simple Jest, you can take your leave, this meeting is already over so don't let us hold you back any longer" One of them spoke.

Logan sighed at this sight, their demeanor had totally changed, when one faced absolute strength they could only submit, his display right now was enough to keep them away from his family for the time being.

He walked out of the house and what met him outside was a kick to the abdomen, spit flew out his mouth upon impact of the deets that sunk into his stomach.

Logan was sent flying back from the power of the attack, his body quickly regained back it balance by digging his feet into the earth beneath using it slow him down.

"Who there!" Logan shouted.

"It me" A voice was heard and a familiar figure could be seen, the figure had black curly hair and his eyes seemed to flash red for a single moment but Logan took it as nothing but his imagination, the figure was Adam.

"Adam?, W-what are you doing here?" Logan stuttered.

"That kick was punishment for not listening to me when I said you should stay clear of those guys, Logan you don't need to be involved with this people, they are just taking advantage of your kind nature"

Adam spoke, his blue eyes reflected Logan confused expression off it , Logan knew something had changed about Adam, he had been denying it but now after being at the receiving end of Adam attack, he was sure of it.

"Adam, those men are trying to help the people here and I want to be a part of that, I don't want to this people to suffer like this, as long as I have the opportunity and power to help this people, I will"

Logan said as he looked into Adam sky blue eyes, Logan wouldn't back away from trying to help people, it was in his nature, when they were young Adam was a role model for Logan, he aspired to be like him and Adam was known for one thing 'Selflessness', he was always able to put others before himself, so Logan himself had copied this trait.

Adam knew this, and inwardly he was cursing his past self for being such a perfect role model at that time, he was just to righteous and Logan admired him for that so he always followed that path.

' Damn, I was just to kind for my own good that even Logan is imitating my behavior'

"Okay, I understand,. just be careful around those type of people, you never know what their hiding?" Adam warned him.

"I know Adam you don't have to tell me that, we aren't children anymore, I know exactly what I am doing" Logan said this as he walked away from Adam, he turned back still noticing Adam remaining immobile and glued to his position, his eyes widened as if he had experienced some sort of shock.

"What is it?" Logan asked but Adam didn't reply for a few seconds, he looked towards Logan, his face took back it calm expression once more.

"Nothing, I was thinking about a few things" Adam said as he walked away towards the opposite direction of Logan without saying a word but Logan decided to break the silence.

"Aren't you coming home?" Logan asked.

he was curious about what Adam intended to do this late, he had noticed strange behaviors from him, he didn't just seem ... him.

"No, I have something to do right now!" Adam replied as he walked away from Logan, he took a quick turn to his right using a building to block his figure as he departed but Logan rushed to follow him but after taking the quick turn he realized Adam had vanished.

"Um, See you later then"

Logan noticed Adam would sometime have a smile curled up on his face at the sight of suffering, this caused a chill down Logan spine anytime he saw it, to Adam the current predicament the village was in didn't faze him rather it made him overjoyed and he couldn't hold all that pleasure in, sometimes he got lost away in it and revealed his happiness in his facial expressions but none of the despair essence in the village was enough to replace her's.

He had seen her in months and she left the village and after that, his body had been itching him to find her, no pain and suffering was even a comparison to her's, he needed her and the despair essence that clouded the village fueled that urge to find her.

It was like a burning sensation that threaten to melt his bones if he didn't succeed in getting her soon, this desire was the strongest one he had felt ever since he became a Primodial demon, most times his body would normally cool down after a period of time to non exposure to despair essence but it had been months since he last saw her.

Adam knew this feeling was unnatural and all due to his Demonic instincts but he couldn't still shake it off, it was slowly creeping into his mind and making this feeling seem like something normal.

His body wasn't feeling like a stranger to him anymore, it felt him!, he stood on the top of a building rooftop! staring down at a small house, several people could be standing outside in white uniforms while some wore the kingdom soldiers uniforms.

Adam could hear the voices of three men in their forties, they were the same men Logan had just met not long ago but the distance between their former location and this one was quite far away, but with their rank, it wouldn't take any effort to cross such distances.

"Are you sure about this, what about if the plans fail" Aaron asked

"It okay, we will use the boy as a scape goat, I am sure the military didn't expect anyone of the beginner rank here and with the boy strength striking serious damage to the military here would be easy, plus the traitors we have within their ranks, success is inevitable, with the chaos ensuing when the boy decides to fight, we will sneak up on him and trap him with this artifact after showing them how efficient we our and with the damage done to their militiary personnel here, what do you think would happen " Marcus spoke with a prideful tone as he talked about his plan.

"They would put us as the rulers of the village once more so we can maintain it" Aaron replied excitedly.

"Yea but we would be ruling them while on a leash always looking over our shoulders making sure we do nothing to anger them" Roger spoke with a tone that seemed dissappointed.

"Power is power my friend, it nothing to be sad about, it just how things are, we just need to make sure not to mess up" Marcus said with a smile, they all held glass cups within their hands that contained red wine.

"To Logan Greenfield downfall and to our rise"

"Cheers!" they softly bumped their cups together but hearing this angered a specific someone, his fists were clenched so tight that his nails were penetrating his skin

"So you chose death" Adam muttered softly

Adam watched from afar, his body was shrouded in darkness, only his blood red eyes could be seen glowing.

"I decided to remain clear of fighting the military but no you fools just have to go after one of mine, no problem, I have been looking for an opportunity to enjoy myself a bit and this seems like the perfect time"

The moon light reflected off his face as a smile curled up his face, his canine teeth looked so clean and polished similar to gems that it reflected the moonlight.

"Time to hunt!"
