Chapter 7

It is the year 1325, and the church of light had successfully begun a new program they referred to as "Project Rebirth". This program was created for cities around the world who were financially struggling and whose citizens could barely feed themselves. The church would spend its resources to help rebuild these cities so that the dark church would find it harder to absorb them into their ranks.

A total of thirty towers were now created and the majority of them had many field agents at a variety level of strength. The main point of their new program was to prevent the dark church from expanding wider, but the second reason was for those with potential within the cities they helped, to be brought in and trained into field agents for their church.

The church of light had more than enough soldiers within their ranks and military, but what they lacked were extremely formidable individuals who could travel around to take down smaller dark churches who were trying to build their influence in different regions.

By using some of their citizens to do this, allowing the church of light to not feel the pressure of spreading out their main military forces and could hit more targets at a single time in the process. With the Lord of Darkness now in this world, the church of light could only continue holding on during this stalemate, as they continued to pray to their god for further assistance.

Just as the Lord of Darkness rewarded its loyal followers with strength, the church of light's god had done the same, even though it was unable to appear on the battlefield with them. Some of this holy power was distributed among the stronger field agents who trained within the towers, while the majority of the holy power was distributed among the army itself to its generals and commanders.

Both sides were unwilling to show weakness as they strategized both major and smaller skirmishes among their forces to attack one another. The dark church was waiting for a child born of pure darkness to appear within the world to lead their army into the final battle, while the church of light was waiting for a child born of pure light.

Many children who were taken to the towers to become field agents showed promise and a high level of purity. However, the church of light knew that only a single child could be the true leader of their army during the final battle. This is the story of that child.

-Within a small academy located right outside of the Crimson Tower-

"Damien! It is time for breakfast, so you better come down before it gets cold!" Morty shouted out to his roommate as he walked over to sit down at the table filled with fruit, bread, and milk.

Both were now twelve years old and were students in the academy. Morty was someone who was born into a well-off family. When a field agent visited his city, the field agent requested for Morty to be recruited into the academy.

His parents were absolutely thrilled since becoming a field agent in the future would allow their foundation to continue to soar into the clouds. Though Morty was only ten years old, the field agent took him directly to the academy to study and live his life, working towards the goal to become a field agent of the church of light.

"We have known each other for over two years now, yet, you think that I would still care about a cold breakfast when all I want to do is sleep in?" walking slowly into the kitchen was Damien with an extremely tired look on his face.

"It is not every day that we will be tested for the preliminaries of the entrance exam. If we are both able to pass the preliminary test, we can advance to the genius class of the academy and will be one step closer to joining the Crimson Tower as field agents!" a brightness in Morty's eyes shone as he started to daydream of becoming a well-known field agent.

"Whatever you say, Morty. Just remember, it is all fun and games until a demon appears in your bed in the middle of the night and eats you up!" showing a spooky grin on his face, Damien tried to scare Morty.

"I just do not understand it, Damien. You were brought here by a high levelled field agent since you were so young, but you do not have any dreams and aspirations when it comes to becoming a field agent and destroying the forces of evil." Morty replied as both roommates finished their breakfast before heading out to their classroom.

"Morty, I do want to become stronger, but it is not for glory or recognition. I just have this weird feeling that maybe, just maybe, becoming stronger will allow me to find out the answers to life itself and my unanswered questions." Damien finally pondering it over some time told Morty as they entered.
