Growth Spurt

Feng Hei Lang gaped as she looked at Xing. "You- You're Xing, right??"

He nodded and dipped his head down. 'I'm now large enough to take you places, Mommy!'

Kang Lei was also gaping, while Kirei looked quite impressed. Kirei walked over and leapt onto Xing's back. He turned to Feng Hei Lang. "Is this your Mind Link beast?"

She nodded. "Could you keep this a secret? I doubt anyone would like to see a dragon around again..."

Kang Lei turned to her too. "You seriously weren't kidding when you said that Xing was a Night Dragon!"

She grinned. "Now you believe me?"

Both of them jumped onto Xing's back, as he started flapping his wings. 'Mommy, which direction is Celio Forest?'

Feng Hei Lang turned to Kirei. "It's in the north, right?"

He nodded. "I'll tell you when we are getting closer."

With a few flaps of Xing's wings, they started lifting off of the ground. Wind brushed past them as Kang Lei almost slipped off.

Feng Hei Lang quickly grabbed him. "Be careful." He nodded and pulled back up. "Thanks."

Kirei looked up into the sky and then down at the ground. "Hei Lang."

She turned to him. "Yeah?"

He had a serious expression. "Don't ever tell anyone else that Xing is a Night Dragon."

Feng Hei Lang tilted her head. "Sure, but why?"

Kirei watched as Xing flapped his wings, the stars on the inside of his wings showing. "If you didn't know, about a hundred years ago, the humans had a conflict with the Night Dragons. The humans thought that Night Dragons had too much authority, so in all of their power, they tried to wipe them out. They succeeded, and not a single one has been seen in a hundred years. Nowadays, a lot of high cultivation experts regret their decision to wipe out Night Dragons. They think that if there were some left now, they can tame them, and forcefully form a Mind Link with them."

She frowned. "That shouldn't happen. Xing became my Mind Link beast by will." However, a small nagging voice echoed throughout the back of her mind. 'Is it truly by will? Hasn't Xing been bound to you since the beginning when you got the system?'

Feng Hei Lang shoved those thoughts out of her head. "So what would happen if the people find Xing?"

Kang Lei cut in. "If some cultivation experts find Xing, they will most likely forcefully break your Mind Link with him and form another with him. So, you can't let anyone find him."

Kirei nodded in agreement. "That's why none of us can speak about him outside."

She grinned. "Alright, this can be a secret between us three."

Kirei stared down at the ground far below them. "It would be better to fly a little higher and out of view, but there's a chance that we might be sensed by some high cultivation experts, so we better stay down here."

Feng Hei Lang nodded and watched as the ground blurred past her, below. She could barely make the outline of a forest and a road.

Kang Lei was peering down when he almost fell down a second time. Feng Hei Lang quickly reacted and grabbed his paw with her mouth. She slowly started to pull him back up. "Can you like not keep falling off?"

He flopped back onto Xing's back, safe and sound. "Sorry! I didn't mean too."

Kirei smirked. "Of course you didn't mean to. You're just an idiot."

Kang Lei raised a paw at him. "What did you say?!"

~~~~~
Feng Hei Lang looked down and saw a large forest with tall trees that resembled pine trees approaching.
Kirei called out, "Xing, slow down. We're arriving."
Xing dived down and pulled back, flapping his wings before coming to a full stop.
All of them quickly leapt off his back and looked at the entrance to Celio Forest. Feng Hei Lang turned to Xing. "Xing, could you have a smaller form? Or the cat form that you did earlier?"
He nodded and said, 'Yes, Mommy!' With a flash, a small black cat appeared where he just stood.
Kang Lei made a surprised expression. "Ooh~ If he disguises like this, no one can find him!"
Feng Hei Lang nodded and then turned back to the entrance. Celio Forest had this dense fog covering it. It was impossible to see through it, so no one would know what's behind it."
She turned to Kang Lei and Kirei. "You ready?"
Both of them nodded and they all started walking to the entrance. Feng Hei Lang closed her eyes as she walked through the first layer of fog. That way, the moisture wouldn't get into her eyes.
She opened her eyes to see a solid white wall in front of them that looked like it was made of solidified fog. Feng Hei Lang quickly checked where they came in from, only to see that it was block off by another wall of fog.
Feng Hei Lang turned to Xing. "Do you sense anything off here?"
He shook his head. 'No, Mommy!'
Kirei spoke. "This is normal. To enter Celio Forest, you must past some trials. You have to pass them, or else you'll be killed. It's a security measure to prevent humans from entering. They're questions that every spiritual beast should know."
Kang Lei grinned. "Alright, if it's meant for spiritual beasts to past, this should be easy enough!"
Just when he said that, a wall of fog started appearing between each of them, separating them. Before they were completely separated, Kirei called out, "Just recall back the knowledge you learned when you were extremely young!"
Feng Hei Lang watched as she was still alone. 'Shit! I don't know anything about young spiritual beasts! I was originally a human! This won't end well!' She watched as the wall of fog in front of her starting changing. Then, written on it, were some strange symbols, completely unknown to her. She sighed and looked up. "Just what I needed. An unknown language."
