"W-What's going on here?!"
Someone shouted. Geometrical patterns, just like a magic circle you'd see in anime, formed on the floor of the classroom.
Then, in the following instant, the space around them changed—turning into a large ground with a large circular plate with unknown symbols.
An unknown number of people appeared out of nowhere on top of the circle as the archimages finished the ritual.
"Hurraaay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
The people, the citizens, everyone was on their knees as they shouted in unison. The otherworldly heroes were their hope. For every generation, they were told the stories of heroes, of how they slew the monsters of the dark, of how they protected the empire, and of how they sacrificed their lives for the people.
Instilled in each citizen was a deep sense of respect and honour for the so-called heroes. And today was a day when they would get to see a glimpse of their heroes.
"..eh?'
One moment they were sitting at their desks, like every other day, and the next they were in a completely unknown place.
Stone buildings and a stone floor, like one, would see in a textbook about medieval Earth.
In front of them, a huge throne, with a dignified man seated on it, and people in all sorts of armour lined up on both sides of the throne.
Unable to tell what happened, no one even uttered a word. Then a beautiful girl, about the same age as them, appeared in front of them. She wore a gorgeous white dress, and 10 men clad in heavy armour followed her. They stood in formation to defend her.
The girl proceeded to step forward, elegantly bow to them, and speak.
"My utmost gratitude to you for accepting our summoning, noble heroes."
The girl raised her head and produced a captivating smile, sure to capture some of the hero's hearts.
"Pleased to meet you. I am the first princess of this empire, Ladia Brightwing. This is a different world from the one you came from—a world of noble heroes—a world we call Arc Wan. Now I shall lead you to an audience with my father—no, with his excellency the emperor.
After Ladia said all that, some of the people who got summoned finally realized they had been brought to a different world and started clamouring.
"What the hell is this?"
"Send us back, now!!"
Shouts and insults were hurled at Ladia until a girl raised her voice to quiet them down.
"Let's calm down for a second, everybody! Let us understand this situation first!"
Everyone turned silent, waiting for the girl's next words.
"If what the princess said is true, then we are really in another world. We should meet with the emperor and hear what he has to say, maybe he has a way of sending us back."
After a few seconds, however, voices of approval rose among them.
"I agree with that proposal."
"I do too."
"I agree."
Soon enough, more than half of the people were on the girl's side.
"Are we settled, everyone? Please follow me, I shall lead your way"
Ladia waited patiently with a smile on her face, then moved forward.
The knights followed and they did after them with the girl in the lead.
Amy and her friends were in the classroom, it was break time and they were talking about the new game that came out when suddenly a circle appeared below their classroom and before he knew it they were transferred to probably another world.
After Lara, the class teacher calmed down everyone they were on their way to meet the Emperor, the reason why they are here in the first place.
After a short while, they arrived in front of the emperor. They could still hear people celebrating outside.
"You shall now have an audience with His Majesty the Emperor, noble heroes. When you approach the Emperor, kindly bow your heads"
"Yes, we understand."
They all nodded after Lara's reply.
Ladia walked forward a few more steps, then bent one leg on the ground and bowed her head.
They followed suit a bit later, delayed by the lack of familiarity with such customs.
"Raise"
They complied and saw the Emperor looking over them with a very serious expression.
"I thank you for answering our summons, O heroes, I am the King of this Empire of Brightwing, Glan Arch Brightwing. I have summoned you for there is something I must request from you"
The Emperor's speech was pretty much what any king in some medieval novel would have said.
Amy guesses that his "request" too would be along the lines of please protect us from the evil forces and the like.
"Currently in this world, the human kingdoms are under threat from the leader of demon armies, the so-called demon king. Thus, my request would be for you to defeat the demon king and his forces and protect us from the demon king and their forces."
"You all will receive training, and priceless amounts of resources, then you will gain further strength through exploration and the conquest of dungeons, ultimately leading to fighting against the demon king…Will you accept our plea?"
Just as she expected.
Amy started to feel annoyed at how they were forcibly summoned when one of her classmates, Onihime, spoke.
"May I ask a question?"
"What question would that be?"
"Will we be able to return... to our world?"
After Onihime's question, all of us looked seriously in the king's direction.
"I deeply apologise, but for now, there is no way for you to get back."
"What does that mean!?"
Onihime answered immediately showing a touch of anxiety in her voice, the Emperor nodded and continued.
"As the legend in our Empire says, when the demon king is defeated a prophecy will be received, detailing how to return to one's former world. For the moment, however, we do not know what kind of method that is…"
Amy thought it was pretty suspicious.
Despite what the emperor said, there was actually no way to return… was another classic of these "different world" series. She was sure that some of her anime-loving friends would have guessed it already. Or maybe they are already excited by the notion.
Maybe because he realized it, one of her classmates started shouting.
"Enough with this bullshit! You summon us and even force us to fight?!"
"This is your world, so do something about it yourself!"
"This is none of our business!"
The protest was getting louder and louder until Anthony, the boy's class captain shouted.
"Everyone listen to me for a moment."
The place turned completely silent for a second, as everyone present turned toward him.
Amy kind of imagined what he was going to say, and frowned.
Anthony was a really good and positive-minded guy, someone who could say "yes" to any request, someone who helped everyone whether it was needed or not. That was why he was well-liked and respected by his other classmates, and the teachers valued him. He had what you call charisma.
The reason why there weren't any bullies in the class was mostly thanks to him.
He was too much of a good guy sometimes.
Amy thought of stopping Anthony from continuing but-
She didn't make it in time.
"I am thinking of fighting against the demon king for the sake of the people of this world."
Half of the class went "shit"
"If it will mean the safety of everyone, I am going to fight. If we are really heroes we should be of some help. Everyone please will you fight with me?! "
One of his close friends, Ducin, was the first to answer.
"Damn you really went ahead and said it huh. Do whatever then... I'm with you, man."
That first approval, however, triggered a few others.
"If you're going, then why not?"
"I will fight too then. It might be fun actually, will we get powers?!"
"As your teacher, I approve too!"
Not only the students but even the teacher Lara got carried away. Nothing was going to overturn it anymore.
Amy saw the Emperor smiling at them but wasn't sure if it was a genuine smile or a grin.
She didn't have the guts to go against such a mood so she kept silent.
"I am grateful for your cooperation. Now we shall confirm which Art each of you has received…Ladia, I shall leave the rest to you."
"Understood."
Ladia waited until the Emperor exit the hall, then turned towards them and spoke.
Noble heroes, we shall now check your status and Art. Art is a god-given gift to you granted during the summoning. As recorded in the ancient text, skills are also proof of being a Hero.
As Ladia talked, she led them to a place where a sword can be seen digging into some kind of stone on the ground.
"This sword will show your status. Please come one by one, place your hands on the handle of the sword and imagine the words 'Status' and it will be shown. Who shall be first?"
" I will."
"Very well, please come forward."
Anthony followed Ladia's instruction and grab the hilt of the sword. The next moment a screen appeared in front of Anthony. It was big enough for anyone to see from a distance.
