3. The Debutant

"Breaking the engagement? Is this because of about—us?" Mother Cooper awkwardly asked but with the hint of anger, pain, disappointment, and guilt.

The old madam slowly shook her head thrice softly sighing.

A soft voice interrupted the scene of the adults,

The old lady sigh once again massaging her own forehead with the tips of her fingers she's having a headache of the obvious lie of the kid. Yuri's parents are no dumb to not understand their daughter's lie.

Father Cooper then carefully said, "If that's our Yuri's thought..."

"Matias!" Yuri's mother glare at her husband.

"Hear me out first. We'll be out of the country and settle there for some years to lay low. After we came back and if our Yuri still wanted to break the engagement then we'll then officially break the en—"

"Matias!"

"What?"

"You're saying nonsense!"

"What nonsense? We just talked about this."

"We didn't discuss about this!"

"About going abroad, yes we just did."

The old lady just look at the pair bantering at each other, sighing softly she look at the girl on her side pitying her more. Isn't there are two more months for the—" the dumb Father Cooper stop when he realize a thing. Still on his stoic face, he cough awkwardly not meeting his wife's deathly glare.

Grandma Matte getting a headache of this view of the couple. One month later is her grandson Evo Matte's birthday and never in Yuri's existence did she get absent from the celebration.
