"Here, your tip for making this awesome coffee," Alexander walked to her when she went back to the changing room to take a five-minute break.
"What kind of tip?" She asked.
"What kind of tip do you want Evangeline?" He smirked, hovering over her as she sat on one of the benches, and Evangeline smiled at him.
"Can I choose silence from your side? Like, how about you stop meddling in my business and stop treating me like I am some kind of culprit out for your family?" She asked, and he looked at her observantly before smiling.
"Okay. If that's what you want -" he left the sentence hanging.
"I definitely must not agree with it because I am hundred percent sure you are out for my family, cutey," he smirked, and Evangeline rolled her eyes.
"Jerk," she scoffed.
"Sir, I am sorry to interrupt, but the man you wanted in the room is there," his secretary said, and Alexander looked at her one last time before nodding and leaving.
As soon as Alexander left, Evangeline walked to the door before looking around and closing it.
With a deep breath, she quickly dialed a number, waiting for the person to pick up.
"To what honor did I receive -"
"I don't have time for your jokes. I couldn't go to the hospital myself," Evangeline said.
"So what do you want me to do?" The man asked, and Evangeline looked at the door before taking a deep breath.
"Do my work. I want all the information about what he is doing, what he is planning, who he is talking to, who is coming to meet him, and everything that comes along with it. So just set up the things there in his room," Evangeline said, and the man who was playing with a toothpick, nodded.
"What is in it for me? I hope you have realized that I am not working for Jordon anymore. I work solo. My payment is different and - "
"Send your bill to me. I will pay for it. But I hope you also know that I am not Jordon. One mistake, and I'll ask Jordon to render you unable to take any more tasks in the future," Evangeline said, and he hummed.
"I'll send you the bill," he said.
"Anyway, how are you holding everything? I am sure coming back to the city is taking a toll on you," he asked, and Evangeline looked at the ceiling of the changing room with a lost look.
Was it taking a toll on her? It was, but somehow Laurentius's presence was also making it bearable. Strangely.
"Surprisingly, it's not. I actually got myself a part-time job. This reminds me, can you keep looking at the acting gigs in your free time? You know my skills. I can act as a stunt double too," Evangeline said.
"Sure. We told you we are in this with you, didn't we? I mean, it does get us some good money too, but emotional support matters too, no?" He chuckled, making her smile before she ended the call.
All she needs to do now is lay low and start observing things in the entertainment industry so that she can make her next move.
After talking to the man, she walked out of the room, looking as carefree as ever.
"Evangeline, are you okay?" Mia asked, and she nodded.
"I am fine," Evangeline smiled, and Mia sighed in relief.
"How do you know the owner of the cafe? It was such a cool thing to do, no? I had never thought he would step in. For a moment, I thought something bad would happen to you. Thanks for stepping in though," Mia smiled sadly, and Evangeline held her hand.
"Mia, I am going to say it once and only once. You are not ugly. And don't let anyone tell you otherwise. No one is ugly in this world. You can be poor but not ugly. Style, beauty, class, status, everything comes with money, so never aim to be beautiful. Aim to be rich as hell," Evangeline said, and Mia chuckled at the girl.
"This surely sounds like something you would say. Anyways, let's go back to work. For now, despite our appearance, we both are broke as hell," Mia said, and Evangeline took a deep breath before nodding.
"You are right. Let's work. I need to pay some extra bills too," She gritted through her teeth.

Meanwhile, inside the car, Alexander looked at his secretary.
"What is the current situation in the market? Did you do what I told you to do?" Alexander asked.
"Yes, sir. We have already spread the news that our corporation will withdraw all the deals and stop working on any projects in the future with Nichole Corporation and all the affiliates connected to them," the secretary answered.
"And how far is the response so far?" Alexander asked.
"It's been three hours already, and it has indeed made the whole business circle chaotic. In fact, I received some calls from their managers asking us what was their fault and if they made a mistake," The secretary answered before he took out his tab to show him the increasing decrement in the shares of Nichole Cooperation.
The company was at its all-time low with a decrease of 600%
It was obvious all the affiliates and their board members were bound to go haywire with this kind of sudden decision.
"That's great. Don't answer anyone for now. Let them go crazy. How dare that insolent girl touch her -" Alexander said, realizing his slip up, and the secretary and the driver looked at him with raised brows.
They waited for Alexander to say something, but he didn't.
He didn't want to correct himself. And one of the main reasons behind it was that he was himself confused.
Was he more worried about that stupid girl who was trying to lure his brother or his brother?
Alexander clenched his hand around his armrest. A strange realization dawned in his heart.
He wanted her.
He wanted her away from his brother, and probably that was the excuse he was using from day one since he saw her in that club. But the truth was, that insolent rude witch, lured him into her traps the moment they bumped into each other at that airport.
Alexander took a deep shaky breath before sighing.
"Now I want to beat someone," he murmured casually, and the driver immediately turned the car to take him to their base.
