"So, because of this video—the GCPD has identified Harley and Joker's gang members as suspects in Gordon's kidnapping and has begun a massive search in the Old Town district?"
As Jekyll was driven to the power plant by Walker, he learned from Dinah about the intelligence GCPD received from the video, and he couldn't help but admire Talia's cunning plan.
Undoubtedly, the "Harley Quinn" in the video was clearly a disguise assumed by Talia, and her reasons for doing so were easy to guess:
On one hand, by utilizing GCPD's forces to hunt down Joker's gang members, she forced Jekyll and his team to seek help; on the other hand, this cut off their escape route—if something happened to Gordon tonight, suspicions against Jekyll and his team would be impossible to shake off.
Moreover, this video had an even more sinister purpose: with the countdown to murder already underway, if Batman didn't intervene to rescue Gordon, his symbol of justice would be severely tarnished, especially since the public was unaware of Batman's injury.
But Jekyll decided to put these thoughts aside for now—what he needed to do hadn't changed. As long as he rescued Harley and Gordon, everything would be fine.
After maneuvering through several GCPD roadblocks and inquiries, Jekyll and his team finally arrived at the abandoned power plant on the outskirts of Gotham. This place was already at the city's border, and beyond the nearby slaughter swamp was the boundary of Metropolis.
"Alright, let's get moving according to the original plan—Walker, take me up."
While Jekyll was dealing with Poison Ivy at Gotham Botanical Garden, Walker and Dinah weren't just idling around. Walker obtained detailed maps of the power plant from another "friend," and Dinah analyzed the maps to deduce Harley and Gordon's likely location.
"If it were me, I'd keep them in the boiler room. It's cramped, with no complex mechanical covers, so anyone sneaking in would be immediately detected."
With the destination settled, Jekyll had to consider the route of entry. Although he intended to go alone, he wasn't planning to throw his life away recklessly by barging in through the front door.
And this was where Walker's moth armor came in handy.
Buzz—
With the vibration of its four semi-transparent mechanical wings, Walker, resembling a giant moth, flew Jekyll up into the sky under the cover of darkness. Their landing target was the top of one of the towering cooling towers at the power plant.
"Are you sure you don't want me to accompany you inside? Not to boast, even though I'm defeated by Batman, handling a few lackeys shouldn't be a problem."
After setting Jekyll down on the metal ladder at the top of the cooling tower, Walker's voice, muffled by his insect-like mask, sounded slightly concerned.
"Forget it. I'm still thinking about making a run for it if things go south. If you tag along, I won't have the chance. You and Dinah just need to create a little disturbance at the entrance to divert their attention."
Jekyll half-jokingly replied, though he did feel somewhat nervous deep down.
Walker hesitated for a moment, then nodded. Just as he was about to take off, he suddenly slapped his forehead as if he remembered something.
"Right, I almost forgot I have a little gadget to lend you. It might come in handy."
Walker fumbled around his waist for a moment, then carefully handed a round, flat object to Jekyll, who felt a small button on top of it when he took it.
"Be careful not to press it by mistake. Once activated, it emits a special electromagnetic wave that disables electronic devices within a radius of fifty meters—press it now and I'll drop dead on the spot."
Jekyll couldn't help but shiver at the thought. what kind of little gadget is this? Isn't this a mini EMP weapon!
"Bro. Why didn't you tell me about this treasure earlier? Besides, you, who rely on electronic devices for flying, carrying something like this that could potentially backfire, isn't that a problem?"
Walker looked a bit embarrassed as he averted his gaze and cleared his throat.
"Well, this thing isn't mine. It's from a friend of mine who lent it to me when you went to find Ivy—"
Friend? Jekyll lowered his head and carefully examined the "little thing." Although it was almost pitch black now, thanks to his night vision ability, he could clearly see a bat pattern on it.
"A bat pattern? Does that mean—"
"Oh man, bro, do you have cat eyes like her? You can see in the dark like this? Anyway, it's getting late, I'll leave first, bro, you stay safe!"
Walker suddenly accelerated his speech in a panic, not giving Jekyll a chance to ask further questions, and flew away flapping his wings.
After some consideration, Jekyll decided to tuck the little thing into his pocket and then slowly began to climb down the rusty iron ladder. Once inside the cooling tower, it was pitch black, and an ordinary person would likely fall to their death if they couldn't see. However, with Jekyll's night vision ability, he could navigate this entrance route.
This is also why he believed he wouldn't be easily ambushed.
Finally, after some time, Jekyll finally saw the bottom of the cooling tower, and at the same time, he saw the faint light coming from the maintenance entrance at the bottom of the cooling tower leading to the interior of the power plant.
Stealthily, Jekyll approached the iron door, cautiously observing the situation outside through the crack.
"I heard there's an intruder at the entrance, seems to be a pretty blond chick."
"Huh, just one person? Well, I'd like to go over there too—if I can catch this chick alive, maybe I'll get to have some fun first, hehe."
"Don't be stupid, the boss gave strict orders that there must be someone watching here. But you don't need to worry, there's still a hot babe in the boiler room below, right? The boss said we can treat her as a reward when the time comes."
"I've been drooling over that one too, and also that brunette woman who was with the boss before—"
"Hey, be careful, that woman's background is unknown, even the boss respects her a lot, be careful not to trigger any trouble."
Jekyll furrowed his brows. From their conversation, it seemed Dinah had already begun the feigned attack, but Black Mask had anticipated this and stationed people here. It seemed like the diversionary strategy wasn't going smoothly.
But fortunately, Jekyll had a plan B—something Dinah had taught him. Always prepare a contingency plan for when the main plan fails.
However, contingency plans often carry greater risks, and the cost might be slightly higher—but who would bear that cost was another matter.
Observing and listening through the crack in the door, Jekyll roughly estimated the number of people outside—about 3 to 5.
In this situation, relying on invisibility to sneak past perfectly wasn't feasible. But Jekyll knew there was another way to achieve perfect stealth—
As long as no living person noticed him, then his stealth would be perfect, isn't that common sense?
