Entitled Parents

"Glad to see you're alive mother." I tell her, a slight edge to my tone. It's hard to decide what to feel, before today I wasn't sure if she was alive or dead. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled that she's alive but for all these years, I didn't know if the sacrifice I made, breaking the Alpha's command to carry my mother to the infirmary, was worth it. I never regretted the decision, as what kind of daughter would I be if I did and without that day, I would never have met Joey, Patrick, Sarah, Zack, Rosalie, Finn and so many others that have given my life such meaning and happiness. She flinches at my tone but doesn't seem too bothered by my reaction. A guilty expression crosses over both their faces, my father seeming to now be able to change his facial expression.

"We heard you were living here now." My father explains, as if it's a valid reason for them to show back only now in my life. I let my distaste show on my face, the only way I could manage to reply.
