Alisha's heart thumped loudly in her chest as she faced the hot guy she had mistakenly taken for the COO. She swallowed hard and opened her mouth to speak, but the sudden entrance of a man interrupted her. The new arrival looked flustered, and Alisha recognized him from the elevator.
"Sir Rayyan, I didn't know you were wanting to meet--" he trailed off as he caught sight of Alisha. "Oh, you," he said, his surprise evident in his voice.
Alisha's fear quickly turned to anger as she glared at the newcomer.
Rayyan backed away slowly from Alisha and addressed the man who just interrupted.
"Mr Alex Davidson, I need you to give me every single detail about this company," Rayyan demanded, his voice firm and unwavering.
Alex swallowed hard, feeling the weight of Rayyan's words. "Yes, Mr. Rayyan. What do you need to know?"
"I need to know everything, Alex. Every single detail, every operation, every employee, every product line. I want to know what's working and what's not. And I want to know it now," Rayyan said, his tone leaving no room for argument. Alisha stood there silently, with a look of both admiration and fear.
Alex shifted uncomfortably, feeling the intensity of Rayyan's gaze. "Yes, Mr. Rayyan. I'll start putting together a report right away," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Rayyan stepped closer to Alex, his eyes locked on his. "Good. And I expect it to be thorough and accurate. I won't tolerate any mistakes or omissions," he said, his voice rising in intensity.
Alex nodded quickly, his palms sweating. "Yes, Mr. Rayyan. I'll make sure it's perfect," he replied, his voice trembling slightly. Rayyan's eyes pierced into Mark and Alisha before he turned and strode away, leaving them standing in stunned silence.
As Rayyan left, Alisha felt a wave of frustration and anger wash over her. She clenched her fists at her sides and turned to face Alex Davidson, who sat nervously in his chair. Alisha could feel her heart pounding in her chest as she glared at him, her eyes narrowed in suspicion.
Alex chuckled nervously, but Alisha could tell he was uncomfortable. He shifted in his seat and avoided her gaze. "Sorry you had to witness that," he said, his tone hesitant.
Alisha's eyes narrowed in suspicion as she glared at him. "Why did you hire me?" she demanded, her voice low and dangerous.
The Alex's face paled slightly, and he swallowed hard. "Well, I didn't," he said, his voice cracking a little. "I mean, not exactly."
Alisha could feel her anger rising as she took a step towards him. "What does that mean?" she growled.
The Alex fidgeted in his seat, his hands twisting nervously in his lap. "Okay, okay," he said, holding up his hands in surrender. "I suggested to Mrs. Lee that you might be a good fit for the job. But I never actually hired you myself."
Alisha's eyes flashed with anger as she took another step towards him. "Cut the bullshit," she spat. "Why did you want me here?"
The Alex stood up, backing away from her with his hands raised in front of him. "So you know, huh?" he said, his voice shaking a little. "Well, I think it's fate." He tried to smile at her, but it came out more like a grimace.
Alisha rolled her eyes, expressing her disbelief and frustration. "What bullshit!" she snapped. She turned on her heel and headed for the door, her shoulders stiff and her head held high. She wasn't going to waste any more of her time on this fool.
Alisha's hand was about to grip the doorknob when Alex suddenly reached out and grabbed her wrist. Her heart raced as he pulled her closer, his grip tight and unyielding. Alisha tried to pull away, but Alex's fingers dug deeper into her skin, sending a sharp jolt of pain up her arm. She looked up into his sweaty face, his red eyes glaring at her, and felt a chill run down her spine.
"Look, I'm sorry," he said, his voice shaking slightly. "I didn't mean it, but I'm sure it's all fate that we're here, you know?"
Alisha tried to speak, but her throat felt tight, and she could only manage a weak "Mr. Davidson, let go of my hand. You're hurting me."
The Alex's expression didn't change, and Alisha could see the anger and desperation in his eyes. Finally, he released her hand and looked away. "I'm sorry," he muttered.
Alisha stood there for a moment, frozen in fear and uncertainty. She wanted nothing more than to get out of that room and away from the Alex's unsettling presence. Without saying a word, she turned and hurried towards the door, her heart still racing with adrenaline. As she stepped out into the hallway, she let out a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. But the memory of the Alex's grip on her hand and the look in his eyes stayed with her, leaving her feeling shaken and uneasy.
I am sorry to keep you all waiting, it took me quite awhile to write this chapter.
