The First Trial (1)

This was a dry and barren highland. Gazing outwards, the surroundings were full of steep-sloped mountains which pierced into the sea of clouds. The encircling mountain range surrounded the area, turning this place into an inescapable and isolated land, where even half of the emitted light-rays were blocked.

The surroundings were all mountains, so there were basically no roads to walk on. And, all the mountain peaks were seemingly hidden within the clouds; even if one were to think of climbing to the top of one of them, it was absolutely impossible to do so.

At this moment, Jasmine spoke up within Yang Tian's mind, "Are you sure that bringing her in the trial grounds was the right decision? You should understand the fearfulness of the trial of the Dragon God…"

"I naturally do understand, and I will give you the same reason I gave to the Azure Dragon's Spirit. It is because the harder the difficulty, the better the rewards." Yang Tian calmly replied to Jasmine.

Jasmine frowned a little within the Sky Poison Pearl and spoke, "But still, would it have any use if you are killed here? Or if this woman was killed here?"

A smirk appeared on Yang Tian's face as he said, "You shouldn't have so little trust in me. Since I have dared to bring her inside the trial grounds, I naturally have the means to protect her."

Yang Tian then turned his head towards Chu Yuechan, "As I had stated before, when you step into the trial grounds, you need to hear my commands."

"A-Alright." She said with a hint of hesitation on her face. Chu Yuechan had no idea about what sort of instructions he was going to give her. She could only hope that his instructions wouldn't be too much…

"Since I had said it earlier, I would definitely stand by my words." She had a solemn look on her face while staring at Yang Tian.

"That's good… You don't need to do a whole lot. Just stay close to me and don't roam around." Yang Tian said to her rather casually. His words relaxed Chu Yuechan a lot, this was an order easy enough for her to obey.

In the skies above, the Primordial Azure Dragon's voice suddenly resounded:

"Welcome to the Dragon God's trial grounds, two young humans. In this trial, there will be a total of three stages. Where you two are now, is where the first stage will be held. In front of you, is the only entrance to where the second stage will be held. Defeat all the Stone Dragon Warriors in this place, and the entrance will naturally open… I wish you two best of luck."

The yellow light scattered, and two figures appeared before Yang Tian's eyes. Their bodies were no different from an average person, but they seemed to be carved from stone and looked unbelievably firm. Their heads looked half-human and half-dragon. They were holding onto a stone spear on the one hand and a stone shield on the other, as their pairs of expressionless eyes firmly locked onto Yang Tian.

"The 4th Level of the Spirit Profound Realm? Is it because the Dragon God's Spirit knows that I have killed the female flood dragon or just because of the number of legacies on me?" Yang Tian let out a sigh.

He opened the Evil Soul and went off to fight against the Two Stone Warriors. Both were hit by Yang Tian's "Flaring Star Crushes the World" fist attack.

Both the Stone Dragon Warriors were destroyed.

Moments later, four Stone Dragon Warriors appeared.

These four had also appeared in front of him.

But this time, Yang Tian used the 2nd Stage of the Star God's Broken Shadow and destroyed the Three Stone Dragon Warriors in one go.

The fourth Stone Dragon Warrior used that opportunity to strike Yang Tian with the spear in its hand.

The spear barely grazed Yang Tian's skin before he turned around and gave it a heavy punch, which shattered its body.

He then turned towards Chu Yuechan, who was somewhat far away from him, "Come close to me now!"

Chu Yuechan was somewhat startled, it was because she saw 8 more Stone Dragon Warriors appeared in front of Yang Tian.

She thought her presence would hold him back.

The Overlord's Colossal Sword appeared in Yang Tian's hand, and he stared at the 8 newly formed Stone Dragon Warriors.

She slowly approached his body, not at all wanting to go against his words since she had promised him that she would comply with his orders earlier.

By the time she had come near Yang Tian's body, Yang Tian was finished dealing with all the Stone Dragon Warriors.

The next time, 16 Stone Dragon Warriors were created. However, this time, instead of all of them appearing in front of Yang Tian's body. Only half of them appeared in front of Yang Tian's body while the other half in front of Chu Yuechan's body.

Fortunately, Chu Yuechan and Yang Tian were standing close enough that it hardly mattered.

"Now then…Star Scorching Demon Lotus!"

He utilised the attack differently than usual this time. Instead of exploding it, he created layers of flames. He wrapped the flames around himself and Chu Yuechan, creating something similar to a lotus from above. With the two of them at the centre.

All the Stone Dragon Warriors that appeared in this layer of flame melted. All 16 Stone Dragon Warriors, except one.

This one had its arm and legs melted, but the chest region of its body remained.

Even though its chest region remained, it couldn't hurt Yang Tian.

"Well then, I guess its time to recover my profound energy." Yang Tian calmly sat on the ground and started meditating.

He had understood the trick to this trial. The next wave would appear when the previous wave was wholly destroyed. That meant, it was better to keep one of them alive, but not in a state it could hurt him and recover his profound energy. This was similar to the zombie waves in the games he had played in his previous life…
