I wake up to the sound of music softly playing and the pitter-patter of rain on the skylight. My hand instinctively reaches out across the bed for something I'm ignorant of, finds an empty space. I bolt up, suddenly reminded of where I am and why I'm here, and heat rises through my stomach and lungs, covers my entire chest. Jai's not here, though, so it must be him downstairs, listening to music and cooking. I can smell it from up here, and my stomach has the bad taste of rumbling in hunger. I wonder what he's up to, and experience a sudden urge to see him. Just to make sure he's okay.
Jai greets me with his usual open smile, the dimple on his left cheek making an appearance. I don't even want to consider what I'd like to do to that dimple.
"Good morning," he says, gestures me to the table. "Got any rest?"
"Yeah, think I did." Truth is, I feel rested and relaxed, how weird is that? "What time is it?"
