Trouble on the Second Floor

Arriving and making his step on the second floor, Alex didn't think much aside from raising his vigilance.

The second floor also only has goblins and kobolds just like the first floor. The slight difference was that the numbers of the beasts. As he was still a level 1, this will give Alex enough excelia but he also wants to attempt if he should try his luck of going down further, fighting stronger monster as his gains will multiply due to his low level.

However, it didn't took long for Alex to doubt that decision seeing hundreds of goblins and kobolds facing him.

"100...No, probably 300 or even 400."

Alex tried to count their numbers but with the numbers, he wasn't really sure but still, he was positive about it being over 300s even at a single glance.

"The dungeon really wanted to kill me."

Alex amusingly muttered. If it were him yesterday, he might back down due to insufficient preparation. According the information he got, the number shouldn't be this many as normally, the monsters were in a group of five or more but definitely lesser than ten.

"I can make it. It'll be over in a flash."

Alex tightly gripped his short sword looking at the monsters that was rushing straight towards him. Pouncing forward, Alex immediately launch the first strike targeting the nearest goblin instantly and devastated the goblin.

"I am not a knight and I have no intention to become one."

Alex murmured to himself reminding himself that he shouldn't engage the beasts in a frontal battle but do it swiftly like how an assassin would.

Throwing some knives and daggers, Alex's body turned into crimson flash as he flashes around striking the beasts he caught off guard.

The dagger and the short sword in his hand resembled lightning as it swiftly stabbed towards the backs of his unsuspecting targets.

By the time the monster's noticed something doesn't felt right, it was already too late. Alex's dagger and sword already arrived penetrating deeply into it's back.

Splurt!

Alex easily cut through the monster, he slashed again sweeping his dagger in a wide arc. The dagger seemingly carried a cold glint as it streaked through the air, slitting its throat.

In one swoop, the remaining health of the monster was depleted. It's eyes was filled in disbelief as if it had seen a ghost. Thud! It's body fell and collapsed to the floor immediately vanishing to dust.

The entire course of events had taken place a few seconds. The corner of Alex's mouth curved up but he immediately suppressed it.

"This won't do. My stamina would not last long and the dagger and the short sword are now revealing several cracks."

Decided in increasing his pace, Alex made some hand signs as he controlled the magic power inside his body.

"Fire Style: Grand Fireball!"

Spewing another orb of fire, explosion took place making the number dwindled. Hurriedly drinking a mind potion, he immediately rolled to dodge an attack from a kobold that survived his fireball and it was evident due it's burned skin.

Alex smiled coldly, then dodged another attack from the other. Even he had reduced the number, the situation is still far from one on one. Alex followed up by kicking the nearest goblin's leg, stamping on the knee joint.

Alex might have started breathing heavily but his eyes were still looking at the goblins and kobolds like a predator eyeing his prey.

"Ahhh!"

The goblin let out a miserable shriek as it reeled back, stumbled and then fell. The blood curdling scream sent chills to the heart of the other who witnessed the scene which made them momentarily stopped. Not missing the chance, Alex threw the knives and daggers in his backpack.

"Flying Raijin Slash!"

Before the goblins and kobolds could notice, all they could see was crimson flashes all over the place. Before any of them could react, all they could feel that something had stabbed, speeding towards their back, neck, head and any other vital spots.

Reappearing and materializing his body, Alex hurriedly drank another mind potion and did the same action once again turning into crimson flashes killing monster after monster before they could even react.

Repeating the process for over 5 seconds, the last kobold finally vanished leaving its magic stones laying on the ground. Because of repeatedly using [Flying Thunder God], Alex face had become pale while he was breathing heavily.

Forcefully catching his breath, Alex drunk his last mind potion without reserve.

"This is not good. I'm too reliant on this."

Alex muttered in dissatisfaction as he had no mind potion left on his backpack.

"Ahh, my money."

Alex had a pained expression thinking that the mind potion had disappeared along with his money. Speaking of money, Alex looked around and saw many loots he had to pick on the ground.

"These should be worth much for sending this group to kill me."

Alex muttered mostly talking towards the dungeon, picking the loots, Alex wondered if he should bring a supporter to save some effort but decided against it as he still doesn't trust anyone.

It took a minute for him to finish picking the magic stones and drops filling his backpack to full. Just after finishing picking up the last drop of a kobold's ear, a group of 50 kobolds and goblins appeared once again.

"Again? Does the dungeon really wanted to kill the newbie me?"

Noticing the abnormal situations, Alex took things seriously not wanting some accident to take place. Gathering his strength in his leg, he stomped the ground circling one of them. Appearing at the back, with a new dagger in hand instead of the one he used earlier, a gust of wind blew forth.

With his speed, the gentle breeze turned into a howling gale. Just as the wind began to howl, Alex abruptly sprinted foward. The dagger in his grasp resembled lightning as it strucked at the back.

The sound of Alex's rapid footstep and howling wind blended together, creating a sound that is hard for a person to distinguish. As if held by a seasoned assassin, the dagger accurately hit the back.

After dealing with a single monster, Alex closed his eyes to feel his instinct's warning. Alex dodged a strike from a stone knife of a goblin and repositioned himself behind the goblin.

Alex dashed foward, a dagger firmly held in hand, stabbed the goblin in the back in just a matter of seconds. Unlike his first attempt yesterday, the monsters today had been completely incapable of keeping up with Alex's speed.

With his assassin style, Alex greatly honed his ability to make an agile and nimble movements, unlike a warrior or a swordsman to make good use of their ability to charge forward.

In a short period of time, he had already managed to attack twice in succession. Looking at the ground, Alex saw his daggers and knives were in place.

"Good."

Without hesitation, Alex used [Flying Thunder God] again to swiftly deal with them all. In just 2 seconds, Alex stopped spamming the [Flying Thunder God] to avoid entering Mind Zero but he had already dealt more than half of them.

His complexion has become pale once again was still capable of fighting.

"For now, I guess I only need to rely on my movement speed."

Alex brandished his dagger creating a strong gust of wind as it streaked through the air damaging the kobold that was caught off guard. In a split second, Alex dashed forward, the dagger in his hand aimed for the throat.

Utilizing his superior speed and pushing it to the outmost limit, it took another 10 seconds for Alex to deal with the rest. As the last goblin vanished after falling to the ground, Alex started breathing heavily as the over exertion and fatigue started catching up to him.

Picking the drops while he still maintained his rationality, he decided to call it a day, Alex went to the guild as he could guess that the dungeon would send a greater number than before which he shouldn't face without sufficient preparations.

After exiting the dungeon, Alex could finally determine the time. At this moment, the sky is so bright and apparently the sky was so clear the no clouds could be seen.

He concluded that the time was around noon. In other words, Alex had spent almost half of his day in the first and second floor of the dungeon.

Exiting Babel, Alex attracted the attention of some adventurers nearby. There are few drop items along with many magic stones in his bag that couldn't be close due to the numbers. Even though he tried being low-key as possible, he still attracted some envious eyes while the others were malicious.

Alex ignored them as he knew they wouldn't move in a broad daylight. Well it's not like they could catch him even if they want to. Adventurers were not necessarily good people, as all of them often put their lives on the line.

Therefore, such pressure brings some changes in their characters. Alex knew that adventurers are very wary against each other. They obey the rule of the jungle. Even an initially kind person may turn evil just to survive, not to mention the already malicious people.

Some dishonest adventures even make a living for robbing the weak but all of them have awe and fear to the strong.

After some time, Alex arrived at guild headquarters. Entering the guild headquarters, Alex started looking around the reception for Rose.

Lining up, Alex greeted Rose who was on the other side of the counter.

"Good day to you Miss Rose."

Alex said with an amiable and friendly smile.
