Chapter 90: Change of Fate (Part 2)

(3rd Person: POV)

Releasing a roar the Juggernaut closed the distance to Morax and slashed at him with its claws.

Creating small wounds on his chest.

'Fuck!' Morax thought.

He was hoping his [Dragonification] would give him an edge against the Juggernaut. But it looks like he was wrong.

If he wasn't careful the creature would kill him as well.

But he wasn't going to allow that.

Taking his tail he slammed the Juggernaut into the ground.

Then without wasting another second Morax grabbed the Juggernaut in both hands and threw its ass right into the middle of Rudra famila.

Although he was determined to change some things. Saving the lives of those bastards was not on his list.

They were going to get what was coming to them.

No matter what.

After tossing the Juggernaut Morax coated his claws in vibrational energy and slammed them into the wall, creating a small cave-in that separated his group from Rudra familia and the Juggernaut.

Due to secretive training on floor 18 Morax had discovered that when he used his [Dragonification] skill he could use any of his magics without the need to chant the spell.

A super helpful part of his skill in his book.

After making sure the enemies and that murder beast were sealed up nice and tight he transformed back to normal and moved to grab Vortex Vanquisher.

He then ran over to the others.

"Lets move!" He shouted.

Morax then started running, everyone else following behind him.

While they ran the dungeon didn't spawn many monsters.

Probably due to all the damaged it sustained.

As for the monsters that did spawn Morax, Diluc, and Leonmitchelli easily dispatched them.

While Gaul and Neze brought up the rear.

As for Rogue he was clutching Kaguya like his life depended on it.

Alise doing the same with Filvis.

Thanks to the high-grade potions both of them were not knocking at deaths door.

Even so they were still in critical condition.

The group made their way all the way to the eighteenth floor without stopping.

After arriving they found a secluded spot to rest.

Once they did so Alise and the others started crying their eyes out.

While Morax and his group also came to terms with the Juggernaut.

As for Rudra familia they all ended up dead.

Except for Jura whose plan summoned the Juggernaut in the first place.

He survived by using his dead familia members bodies as cover.

So while Morax did change fate, some things remained the same.

But that is a story for the future.

(Morax: POV)

Lying in a hospital bed, bandages secured around my torso I looked at Ryuu's sleeping face.

Since she is lying in the bed with me.

After we made it took the eighteenth floor and took a slight breather we came back to the surface as fast as we possibly could.

Once we arrived we came straight to the hospital.

Where I have been recovering from my injuries for the last three days.

Apparently the wounds the Juggernaut inflicted went deeper than I thought.

Concerning Kaguya and Filvis both are doing just fine. They are alive and expected to make full recoveries.

But both have been placed in magical sleeps to help their injuries heal.

Even so I'm so glad they're both going to make it.

As Ryuu snuggled in closer to me I ran my hand through her hair.

The moment she and the others arrived at the hospital along with Astraea after they were informed of our situation, she hasn't left my side.

Rose comes by every single day.

I really am a lucky man to have them both in my life.

Hearing the door to my room open I looked to see who it was.

While Ryuu instantly opened her eyes and grabbed a dagger she had hidden under my pillow, ready for a fight.

But calmed down when she was it was Athena and Astraea.

"Morax." Athena said.

"Goddess." I retorted.

"Astraea has something she wishes to say." Athena spoke.

After she did do Astraea walked up and bowed her head to me.

"Thank you. Thank you so much. Because of your actions not all my daughter's died. I am so grateful." Astraea said over and over again.

"Lady Astraea please raise your head." I told her. "They are my precious friends, so I don't need such thanks for doing what I would've done anyway." I explained to her.

"Yes Astraea, no need to go further." Athena added.

Nodding Astraea lifted her head up. "Understood. And just know Morax your secret is safe with us." She said.

Because shortly after everything settle down Athena revealed my adepti status to Astraea and the others.

Given what they're in the dungeon we had no choice in the matter.

Even Ariane finally learned of it.

It was about time for her too anyway.

From what I heard all of them were quite shocked. But they will keep my secret.

Which I am ever so grateful for.

"I appreciate that." I said.

"It's the least we can do." Astraea spoke.

"Excuse me." Ryuu spoke up. "But now that everyone is safe, what are we going to do about Evilus moving forward?" She asked.

A cold look on her face.

Clenching her fist I can hear her grinding her teeth.

"If they didn't exist this wouldn't have happened. Morax and the others wouldn't have gotten hurt. Asta and Celty would still be alive. All of them is because of them!" Ryuu shouted, her anger boiling over.

"Ryuu, believe me I understand your anger." Athena said. "But have no worries. I've already come up with several plans to finally wipe this fifth from existence permanently." She explained.

Putting a smile on her face, but with a dead look in her eyes.

'Scary.' I thought.

I've never seen Athena this pissed off.

Evilus has royally fucked up.

I almost feel sorry for them.

Almost.

As Athena even started chuckling in a creepy manner I suddenly felt a presence that was not in the room a few minutes before.

"Show yourself, now." Athena said in a powerful voice.

A second later a cloaked figure simply appeared before our eyes.

"Apologies for this." The figure spoke.

But I instantly knew it was Fels.

"Who are you?" Ryuu asked. Pointing her dagger in Fels direction.

"Simply an assistant to Ouranus." Fels spoke.

"Why are you here?" Astraea asked.

"Due to the events your familia recently experienced in the dungeon he would like a private meeting with you both, ladies Astraea and Athena." Fels explained.

"Oh. Well then lead the way. Since there are a few things I would like to discuss with Ouranus as well." Athena spoke.

As she did so I prayed for Ouranus.

Since he's about to face off with a pissed off war goddess.

I would not want to be him right now.

"Very good." Fels said.

He, Athena, and Astraea then left the room.

Allowing me to relax once more.
