"Sigh!"
At home, Ren was staring at the online comments and let out a long sigh.
"What's wrong?" Jada, who was playing with their baby son, heard his sigh and curiously looked over.
"I'm getting roasted by the fans again… My heart hurts! I need some comfort!" Ren pouted and made a move toward Jada, planning to dive into her arms for some much-needed comfort.
But Jada had already seen through Ren's plan. She stuck out her foot and planted it squarely on Ren's face, looking at him with disdain. "Even your son has stopped drinking from me, and you still want to? Ew!"
As Jada was about to scold Ren, she instinctively pulled her foot back. Feeling a dampness on her sole, she looked at Ren, who was licking his lips with satisfaction. Her face instantly turned bright red. "You… you…!"
Jada struggled to form her words, and seeing the look of disgust she shot at him, Ren raised his eyebrows. "What are you looking at? Never seen a perv? And it's not like this is the first time!"
Jada: "..."
She was at a loss for words.
Knowing her husband was in a shameless mood, Jada took a deep breath and glared at him warily. "So why are you so upset? You've been criticized before." She gave him another sharp look. "With that thick skin of yours, I doubt you'd feel anything, even if a fan sent you a bomb."
To be honest, Jada thought Ren deserved the criticism. After all, he had a habit of turning promising stories into sad, gut-wrenching dramas. Especially Cautious Hero's ending—people were still ranting about that one online.
"If it were my fault, I'd accept it. But this time, it wasn't even my fault!" Ren clutched his chest dramatically. "This time, it's all Felix's fault!"
"Felix?" Jada thought for a moment before remembering Ren's apprentice. Felix's series Nexus had gained popularity, though it still wasn't as widespread as Tiga. After all, Tiga appealed to all ages, while Nexus had a darker tone, which not all kids enjoyed.
"What did Felix do to make you take the blame?" Jada asked, puzzled.
"Oh, it's because of his new series, Kamen Rider Amazons. Some fans saw the trailer and title and started speculating that the story would be like Nexus, with Riders dying and getting replaced. They think I'm the one who taught Felix to write that way!" Ren grumbled. "But both Nexus and Amazons were Felix's ideas!"
Ren was genuinely frustrated. Sure, he was responsible for changes to Claire's series Your Lie in April, since he had pushed for certain modifications in the finale. But Nexus and Amazons? That was all Felix's doing!
He had even asked Felix to tone down some of the darker elements. Originally, Felix had wanted characters like Zhun and Ren to die in the plot!
After Ren explained the situation to Jada, she chuckled. "Well, that's what you get for being known as the 'master of sadness.'"
However, seeing Ren's pitiful expression, Jada's heart softened, and she started to comfort him.
...
Days passed, and finally, the premiere day of Kamen Rider Amazons arrived.
Even before the show started, Daniel was already seated on the couch, ready with chips and soda—essentials for any good watch party.
Daniel was particularly interested in this series.
The trailers had given him the impression that Amazons would be similar to Nexus—serious, deep, and with a protagonist who, like Zhun, had a tragic backstory.
So Daniel wasn't planning on missing this one.
Right from the opening sequence, Kamen Rider Amazons delivered with high-energy fight scenes and a catchy BGM that made viewers want to get up and move along to the beat.
"Wow, this is definitely Felix's style."
Daniel quickly recognized the unique atmosphere. The scene showed a special task force in action, which gave Daniel the idea that this world, like in Nexus, had advanced technology capable of fighting monsters.
"The opening feels a bit like Kuuga, but more eerie."
A dark room filled with spider webs and dust set the tone. Accompanied by creepy background music, Daniel shuddered slightly.
The camera work and transitions created a suspenseful atmosphere, and the BGM added a layer of horror.
Suddenly, a bloody hand appeared on the screen, making Daniel jump.
Thankfully, it was just a fleeting scare.
But it confirmed for Daniel that this show would be nothing like Kuuga.
In Kuuga and Tiga, there were no explicit scenes of blood or gore—they kept things light. But Amazons was different. The tone reminded him of Nexus, with the unsettling creature attack scenes.
"Target confirmed… Pest control initiated."
The enemy soon made its appearance.
Like Kuuga, the first monster was a spider creature.
However, this spider monster was far more vicious than the one from Kuuga. And unlike the police force in Kuuga, the special task force in Amazons was clearly better prepared to face such threats.
But they were still no match for the monsters.
Then Daniel's eyes widened.
He couldn't believe what he was seeing.
A police officer transformed!
Yes, he transformed!
Just like in the trailer with the scruffy man, this young officer, Haruka, transformed into a—what?
"A monster?"
Daniel was confused.
Haruka's transformed state looked more like a mole monster than a Kamen Rider…
"Could this still be a Kamen Rider?" Daniel wondered.
Given how different Amazon looked from Kuuga, this could only make sense.
Daniel recalled the scruffy man transforming into the red Amazon in the trailer and realized this could be part of the series' unique take.
After all, if the main Rider looked so unconventional, it made sense that others would too.
But…
Could there be more than one Rider in this series?
Or maybe Haruka was the predecessor of the scruffy man?
But what about the belt? Where was the iconic Kamen Rider belt?
