That night, we were allowed to rest in individual rooms. I was slightly thankful since I wasn't sure I could sleep on the 29th floor, given how many people were present there.
Of course, I turned off the stream after we were done with Selen's crafting, so right now, I am literally not doing anything.
"..."
Having nothing to do, my mind drifts off toward the scenes of my death. Why? I have no idea.
The first one was being swallowed whole, the next one was being shot by a gun, the third was getting my head eaten, and the fourth was flying out of the speeding car and slamming my head against a concrete post.
I died with quite a variety, if I say so myself.
"But now, there's something more important than my life or death."
Selen asked me, despite her extremely shy personality, to tell her about whether the weapons she made were able to damage monsters or not at the start of the next loop. Depending on the result, the fate of all of humanity might change.
"... But still, assuming that I'd die is pretty harsh." I chuckled lightly, feeling a bit nihilistic.
Of course, I have no desire to die purposefully, like by committing suicide. As much as possible, I want to stay alive and survive too.
With my mind filled with idle thoughts, I slowly drifted away into the world of dreams.
---
The next day, after a short breakfast delivered to my room, I went out with my GoBro attached to my shoulders the same as yesterday, with my phone watching over the stream's chat.
Right, I forgot to charge both my phone and GoBro last night, but thankfully, they have fast charging facilities accessible around the military base. There, I charged my phone, GoBro, and my two power banks while I was having breakfast. It barely took an hour to fully charge all four devices.
As I was walking around, heading to Selen's workshop, I noticed the military doing their drills. Some of them were practicing controlling their skills too. What surprised me is that there are almost a dozen of them using magic-like skills. Some were shooting sharp icicles, others firing wind blades, or controlling large masses of liquid, changing its shape as the user wills it.
Honestly, it was such a pretty sight that I ended up staring at them for a while. When I turned to look at my phone, the majority of the 5,000-plus viewers were probably thinking the same, seeing the chat log.
Honestly, I'm getting worried for my viewers. My usual streams last three hours, five hours max, but yesterday, it was practically the whole day. The viewers didn't decrease but rather increased halfway through, making me both thankful and sorry for them. Don't they have anything better to do?
Anyway, this midnight, the monster invasion would begin once more. This time, I don't want to just wait for monsters and only fight to defend myself, like during the last loop.
Steeling my resolve, I walked toward Major Lucas, who was the one overseeing the training, and saluted. "Major Lucas, good morning, sir!"
"Oh, Hvir. Good morning to you too. Are you off to visit Selen's workshop today too?" As soon as he turned to face me, the serious look on his face turned friendly in an instant, like magic.
"I was about to, but..." I took a deep breath, mustering all my courage, and asked. "I want to participate in the army's fight against the monsters!"
"You...?"
Major Lucas placed a hand on his chin, going "Hmm?" as he looked at me from head to toe. "How confident are you with your stamina?" He then asked without context.
"I can run a 5km marathon in 20 minutes, sir!"
Back in college, I was part of the track and field club and even managed to win a few local tournaments. Although I started to miss exercising after I got my job, I still go to the gym to run 5km on the treadmill and finish a basic exercise menu at least once a week.
"Good. Alright, you can participate, but don't expect me to go easy on you. I'll be treating you the same as any of my soldiers! Understand?"
"Sir, yes, sir!"
After that, I was told that since I had no offensive-class abilities, I could go. I mean, I have already served in the military for 2 years of compulsory military service after reaching 18, so I have no problems with marching or following commands.
Since I had no other problems, I was told to get my uniform later and to gather on the camp's grounds on or before 10 p.m. Other than that, I could spend my time freely. Although the Major said he'd treat me like any of his soldiers, isn't this too much preferential treatment?
I went to Selen's workshop right after and saw that they had already begun crafting more weapons. I kept watching, seeing how Selen's abilities were getting more and more accurate as she made more weapons.
"Right, Selen, can I have a sword for myself?" Of course, I didn't miss the chance to ask for a custom weapon.
The mass-produced ones do look nice, but if I could, I want a more unique-looking sword. One that would make me feel "This is mine!" with one glance.
"A sword?" Selen, in her work mode, asked me with a raised brow. "I can try. Here, draw the details of your sword for me."
She then passed me a notepad and a pen.
I quickly started drawing, tracing a beautiful curve, and adding a few jagged edges to add more "cool" elements to it. After I was done, I passed my magnum opus to Selen.
"Hmmm..."
Her face quickly turned iffy. Garuda, curious, peeked from over her shoulder and had her turn a look of pity on me. "Hvir... You suck at drawing."
"...!"
Hearing her say that to my face hurts! Was it that bad? I turned to check the chats since the entire process of my drawing was caught on camera. I was about to cry tears of blood just reading the last few comments.
"D*mn! My three-year-old daughter can draw better than this."
"Chuunibyou level max!"
"Hvir, this lacks practicality... But I guess it does look cool if it's made."
I quietly retrieved the note from Selen and rewrote the entire thing. This time, minimize the excess details while keeping everything simple. With the lines being all straight, there's no way it would look sh*t, right?!
"You should never hold a pen and draw again, ever."
But it still didn't pass Garuda's scrutiny. God, I want to die.
The next chapter is another death-, I mean, another fight! Let's all witness the power of Selen's weapons! (Will it even work?)
