"So—they are alive?" Hermione quizzed with hope in her eyes and voice. What the Queen said, brought back hope to her heart, to her life.
Shaking with eagerness to know, she prodded attentively.
"No, Hermione." Queen Elphaba conceded.
Her eyes dulled, shoulders slumped and expression downcasted. Just when she hoped that there was a chance.
"So that means…..they are…..?" She couldn't complete the words.
Receiving a positive nod from the Queen, Hermione sighed sullenly. What was she expecting? For them to be alive? Good gracious!
Putting the brooding thought behind her, Hermione asked. "How….." She hesitated for a moment before proceeding. "How did they die?" From The landing of the talk, they could tell that it was a painful question to ask. It was obvious.
Ottilia scooted uncomfortably by her side which was to her notice, as though this conversation always brought her discomfort.
